Honestly am a huge fan of these types of camera hack videos. I fixed up my pentacon but it took me 3 days and i wanted to burn the thing so I probably couldn't ever do this haha love it though!
Those screws sure are long-winded! Very interesting and well-composed video! Great information, and perfect choice and volume for your background music. I saw a video with flipped lens photos and thought I'd give it a try, but your comment about the 2--5' "sweet spot" cooled my jets. But it was all worthwhile, though, because I found your channel! Thanks!
Thanks Walt - I’m heading out with my Brownie Hawkeye tomorrow for International Brownie Camera Days. I’ll probably put up a short video with my results next week.
Oh wow, who would have thought that flipoing a lense is even an option. Very nicely done my friend. The images are ver soft indeed and i can imagine it is a nightmare to focus.
Thanks for this video! I just got my Brownie Hawkeye today. I disassembled it, gave it a thorough cleaning, and reassembled it. Quick question... A tiny "L-shaped" piece of metal came out, and I can't find any videos or manuals online to show me where it goes. It's the same material as the spring for the shutter. Would you happen to know what it is for? I can send you a picture of it if you'd like. 🙏🏼
@@theoldcameraguy Thank you so much. Just an update, I'm more convinced the extra "part" could be a piece of unmelted solder, so I'm going to ignore it for now since the camera shutter works. I do have one last question for you since you have the video for the lens flip mod. Do you happen to know how the focusing would be affected if you flip the lens AND use the no. 13 close-up attachment? Do you think the focusing distance would be the same? Thank you for the replies. 🙏🏼

Indiequas Pentacon - that’s a serious camera! Sounds like fixing that was a lot tougher than this😄Thanks for watching!

Wow cool, I definitely need to try this!
srad Yes - I would love to see what you could do with this, especially with color stock!
@@theoldcameraguy exactly what I was thinking 😂 adding it to the list.

Violet Henning Yep, there’s no focusing on this one - You get what you get, but still fun.
Drop a link to the video you did after this one please?

Today I have ... a like to give :))!
BnW with jazz background very very NY stile.
The one with the tractor grille is top :).
Andy Andy Frogy Thanks Andy - The tractor shot was my favorite too
The results from the flipped lens look more interesting than the ones from the "light leaks" films seen in earlier videos.
cdl0 Yes, this was a fun thing to try with intriguing images. Thanks for watching
Softer images? But are they sharper? Not trolling. The focal length shortens, right?
They are not sharper

I don’t have the answer to that, but I will refer you to @TheBrownieCameraGuy on RUclips - good chance he can help you
