Lets do a recap: 1. 2:02 helmbreaker followed by judgement cut into virgil slashes (also with an insane range, bro hit chatacabra even when its out of range) 2. 5:53 new forward attack, down slash to overhead slash (im guessing its only for red gauge) 3. 8:19 Apparently, longsword has this side slash too in focus mode. Actually living to its name as Capcom's favorite child 4. 9:11 and the icing on the cake, the star of the show: cancelled helmbreaker. And it didnt even consume the gauge! This will now be a good finisher 5. 10:40 and here we see yet again the new forward attack. Might actually be only available in level 3 gauge And that's the recap. Longsword getting and getting better at being Capcom's favorite child. I guess i have to main this weapon again in wilds 🤪
1:49 i believe thats a failed iai spirit slash counter that doesnt drain gauge level (just like in rise, in world failing iai spirit slash drained a level), because divine blessing was triggered and no blue glow. I assume it would also give a level if counter was successful like in rise (it was shown in weapon trailer, that ls glow changed from yellow to red) 2:02 2nd attack of helmbreaker (spirit release) drains 1 level, but fills up gauge 5:59 spirit attacks on red gauge do not deplete it, nor crimson slash attacks increase it, roundslash only slightly increases gauge. same with followup to roundslash - spinning crimson slash 8:14 that focus "roundslash" attack increased 2 levels of gauge (from white straight to red). perhaps it just straight up increases it to red no matter from where you start
also if you guys notice, when the character sharpening the sword ( at 7:53) , it's fill the sharpening bar each time the character sharpening it instead of waiting until the character finish the sharpening animations. That mean if you got hit by a monster while sharpening, you still have 1/3 of the sharpening process instead of have to do the sharpening again, i dont know if you could cancelled the sharpneing animations or not but it's already a great QOL feature for me.

True with the amount of jumps it was doing and how high its body/head is. Seems likes only ranged weapons could deal with it. O.k no wonder they buffed the bow. Cause they it to be a reliable ranged quick swap.

7:30 Every weapon at the preview has 2 choices, and of those choices one weapon had ballistics, and the other had quicksheath built into the weapon itself.
The ability to redirect and straight up cancel helm breaker is a game changer. HB should have always been connected to w button press so rhis is a well accepted change. We are eating good. The counter frames are easier to activate as well. With part breaker there is almost nonjeed ro use any other weapon. Looks like im taking 2 LS on my hunts lol.
I think the Focus Strike System is the reason behind why the player was able to cancel out his special sheath and re-acquire the target so smoothly. P.S. Im a long sword main that was planning on trying something new in Wilds but after seeing that game play..... I have to be honest i might be sold on the long sword again lol
Yeah I think that's why he changed weapons, just to show that the weapon's state remains even when switching. That's good news, but would have found it reasonable if the weapon reseted.
I wouldn't be too fast with the decision to not play other weapons (even though it was probalby more of a joke) because it's very likely that all the other weapons have similar mind blowing additions which just have not been shown yet.
Well sure other weapons get some cool stuff but lets be real longsword is the posterchild of Capcom at this point so its probably just gonna be super op like usual.
@@bellor123 I think this time they're trying to even out the pick rates by trying to make weapons close to equally attractive to play. LS will stay OP but but they probably amped up the other weapons to a point where they can potentially catch up a bit in popularity and it's only preference instead of lack of cool moves/good moveset options. The clash option for weapons with blocks is one of probably many attempts in trying to do so.

God all the weapons in wilds look insane. I'm an insect glaive main and it looks so good in this game (I hope the down pogo attack feels more like world and not rise, because rise's down pogo felt clunkier imo). I like to branch out and use different weapons in each game/dlc though. I'm still a relatively new mh player that started with world (and actually found your videos when fatalis came out) so I've only done charge blade, bow, glaive, and light bowgun. I'm thinking dual blades look like the one I'll play for base game wilds but i dunno, every weapon looks cracked in their own way. Definitely gonna have to do a glaive build as well though, gotta have a glaive in every game just like you with longswords lol.
Only thing I’m wondering is if Iai spirit slash will still give you an extra gauge level if you time it correctly like it did in rise/sunbreak, or will it not and just keep you at the current gauge like it did in Iceborne?

I'm on the fence with I love the CB, but I also love the fluidity of LS. I guess I'll use CB on the slow ones. And LS on the fast monsters.
The "new forward attack" is called Crimson Slash; it completely replaces the overhead slashes in red mode, seen by simply looking at the top right
also if you guys notice, when the character sharpening the sword ( at 7:53) , it's fill the sharpening bar each time the character sharpening it instead of waiting until the character finish the sharpening animations. That mean if you got hit by a monster while sharpening, you still have 1/3 of the sharpening process instead of have to do the sharpening again, i dont know if you could cancelled the sharpneing animations or not but it's already a great QOL feature for me.

Just watch the upper right corner and you can see the whole move set and combos for each move that the hunter makes

You use that combo on more aggressive multi hit attacks like Zinogre and primordial Malzeno fights
