Great video Jay, I am trying to go on Ride Alongs with every station in Santa Clarita so I can make a cool compilation. It will probably help if I join the LACo.FD Explorer program. lol
Thanks for posting these awesome videos!! I grew up watching Emergency! which certainly played a part in influencing me to seek a career in public service. It’s absolutely wonderful to watch your videos to see how things are done nowadays (surprisingly very similar!). But I have a question regarding this video. My understanding is that the 2+2 tone system is no longer used in LA; it’s now all digital. So are the first two tones that I hear (first one starts quite and slowly rises, then the second one- followed by three beeps) simulated tones as part of the station’s alarm? Just wondering cuz the three beeps don’t seem loud enough to get anyone’s attention; certainly not like the old Klaxon used in the old days.
thanks for watching, i really appreciate it. these new SCU (station control unit) systems just got added to all LA County Fire Stations so they have the same two-tone with the three beeps. they still work well on getting attention. sometimes if i’m across the street from a station, i can hear the tones (the three beeps stand out the most if you’re far away). but i’ve still been able to hear it all really well if there’s music playing in the app bay or the chainsaws are going in the morning or if a shower is running so i’d like to think they still do a great job. the first of the two-tones starts quieter so that you’re not being ambushed when sleeping haha. hope that helped, thanks again for watching.
Liking the beginning with the tones in the station. Awesome ride along video, Jay!
i gotta get more ride alongs, i've been super busy lately!! thanks bud

Aren't these rigs the ones in LA that are fitted with UK-style two-tone horns?
not these ones, the older fords with the rotator light bars. these are the newer ones and just have regular airhorns now.
nice buddy
