- Today, me and Mrs British Railroader took a trip to the Essex coast to the town of Burnham on Crouch to visit Mangapps Railway Museum. I have been coming here for years, but what makes it special for me is that it actually has a piece of North American railroad rolling stock in the form of a CN caboose. If you are interested in the museum, checkout their website www.mangapps.co.uk
A very enjoyable video. That looks like a great place to visit.
Thank you. It is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours
Hmmm great video must try to get to visit this place
Tgabk you. It is a nice little place to visit
The Caboose is often in service on bank holidays. (im a volunteer driver there)
I had a ride on it a few years back, was great fun as we sat up in the cuppola
We haven't been there for a long time, we must make another visit.
@@tectorama hope you enjoyed the video
That was very cool! Awesome little excursion train and how cool that they have a restored old CP caboose ! 👍
It is a nice little place
great video, and looks a great railway, I have added it to my list of places to visit this year
Thank you so much. It is a great little place to visit and after, go into the town for fish and chips
@@thebritishrailroader fish and chips as well, perfect
lovely video Steve, beautiful background music through-out
Cheers. Not many people like the background music but I think it works in some videos
@@thebritishrailroader especially videos like this where there's not much talking
The signal box in your video was from the science museum London my husband was one of those involved in emptying the main hall and he was one of three aloud to look after and travel with Stevenson rocket on its tour of JAPAN along with other exhibits ,nice video,
Thanks for the info. I love hearing about this kind of thing. Glad you enjoyed the video
@@thebritishrailroader just a little update the signal box was taken out the museum 1997 along with rocket and many other exhibits ,most of them went to an airfield called wroughton near Swindon then on to Japan on tour for three months when rocket came back to the UK she went straight to YORK NRM the tour didn't go to plan as 1998 was the year Japan's banks were crashing so the tour didn't bring in the money that Japan was expecting,😃,
Hi Steve, That's a great video. It certainly looks like an interesting place to visit, we need to get back out to some heritage railways 🛤. Have you seen our Barrow Hill Roundhouse videos or our Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway one's. Certainly an enjoyable watch...cheers James 🙂👍
Thanks James. Not seen that video yet but will take a look. It is a lovely little museum and worth a visit if you are ever down here
@@thebritishrailroader that's another to add to my ever growing to do list, I hope you enjoy the video 😁👍
Looks like a good day out.
It was. Very quiet when we visited but if you gononbone of their steam days, they have lots of trains running, we had just an hourly shuttle
How much canadian stuff do they have ( I live in montreal canada where the caboose was built)
Only the caboose and the speeder. Also some smaller artifacts such as posters, helmets etc, but that is about it. However, for a small heritage railway, it's a lot of stuff.
@@thebritishrailroader understandable!
👍👍👍❤🤍💚
Thanks
I'm just not interested in diesels. They're like big trucks more than anything.
I understand what you mean, even though I am a diesel lover. Mangapps do run steam but on special days. It is just not economic for them to do so every weekend. On the day we were there, we almost had the place to ourselves!
@@thebritishrailroader A steam loco has just been rebuilt and it's planned to run at a mini gala day 27 October 2024. Check with Mangapps in case of change.
