    I’ve been playing DA2 recently and I have to say that many of these issues have been improved by the modding community, much love to them for taking a good game up a notch!

      Oh yeah, ABSOLUTELY do mods help games out in the long run, though it is the vanilla game that sells itself to people first lol And for anyone that happens upon these comments, do you have any mods you would suggest?

    • @grimgingrin830
      @grimgingrin830 2 года назад

      Yeah I bought the game because I wanted to know the stories of the companions, mod’s came after :D I mainly play with cosmetic mods, like giving Isabela that awesome captain outfit, and character creation mods to make a more unique Hawke! To anyone interested go check out Nexus

      Lol I kind of did the default Hawke because I did like his look. Not to mention the Champion armor looks fantastic

    Here’s the thing. I love Dragon Age 2. 🥰 Perhaps I’m in the minority, but that doesn’t bother me at all. 😁 To be honest, the characters are what I love most about it. I fell in love with Hawke, Fenris and Varric. The story was worthy in my opinion. The good humour alone made it worth my time. 😂 So players claiming that the characters were not likeable or being a ‘hassle’ is ludicrous to me personally. But I’m not so biased that I couldn’t see the negatives. But of the points listed here I can’t agree with nearly any of them. 😅 Yes, combat was not ideal to say the least but it worked. The story was linear but it was Not without consequences, rather the opposite. Kirkwall doesn’t change? Not massively no, but I didn’t care much about it. 🤔 The companion armour was a shame sure, but that’s why mods were invented. 😁 But yes, the reused locations were, for me as well, the weakest point of the game! Good grief... the maps weren’t even that big, surely, they could have managed a few more! Or, was it that the consoles of the time couldn’t handle more content?? I doubt it but who knows.
    Thank you for this video. 👍 I’m always glad to find people who actually enjoyed DA2 in their own way. 😋 For myself I’ve played it five times and I’m likely to play it five more, as well as the other games while I wait for the Dreadwolf to come out!! ❤️

      Something I neglected to say in the video is how much I liked Hawke. Sure they're a reactionary character to the story, but they're also the one that gets stuff done lol
      There was definitely some fantastic storytelling in how they wrote the Templar zealots as well as the terrified mages. Their motivations all made sense as to why one side would think the other side is out to get them.
      Thank you for your comment here! Loved reading through it and seeing your experiences with the game ^^

      You fell in love with Hawke despite his rough, sarcastic, monotone and over the top personality with non consequential choices and decisions to make within the story? He's one of the weakest protagonist ever. So much more fun to be a Grey Warden and fart around in Origins and Inquisition. Dragon Age 2 has some of the most rushed material ever. You expect better of BioWare than that. Even Andromeda and Anthem are so much more fun. At least the gameplay and graphics are solid there. DA II just feels like a generic mobile game with the Dragon Age name on it and disguised as being made for consoles. It needs to be remade or forgotten about. 13 years later and it's still as old school and boring to play. You can't connect to any of these new dull companions they introduce. Same thing happens in ME3/MEA and Anthem has uninteresting characters. So BioWare is heading downhill massively unless they step it up with ME4 and DA4. I have full faith they will turn the tables around there. And if not well then too bad I guess it was a good run.

    IMO the game is ok but sandwiched between two much better games. I feel the same way about Mass Effect 2 in that I consider Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age II to be the worst games in their franchises so far. But in Mass Effect 2 I cared about the characters a lot more and the setting was more interesting to me.

    Things that annoyed me the most in DA2:
    The stupid difficulty settings.
    In Origins between normal and nightmare there is a difference of about 5 % in stats.. in DA2 its like in most modern RPGs just double the HP for Enemies but double their damage too. For me thats just lazy.
    The "light" skill system.
    I mean there are many skills tho but most of them feel weak and it feels like something is missing. Oh and the specializations are not to be unlocked anymore.
    The User Interface.
    Well its boring and not fitting... compared to Origins its crap
    In general i think Dragon Age 2 is a great game with an awesome story and many interesting characters to talk to. But its not the Dragon Age 2 i wished for. The biggest strength is the storytelling the biggest weakness the gameplay. .. for me personally..

    • @MegaMadVladMMO
      @MegaMadVladMMO  2 года назад +2

      That's a lot of interesting points there.
      I only played on Normal for the sake of the review. As for the skills, I tended to go to the ones that sounded the best and most fun to use, but the higher up in level all my characters got, the longer I took to figure out what next to get them as a lot of things would only be more bloat to the various builds. While I didn't have any issues with the UI myself, I will agree it's not the prettiest and could've been better for sure. It got the job done at least lol
      I really enjoyed the story and definitely saw it as one of the stronger points. As for the gameplay, having not played Origins since like 2010, my perspective here is just hopping into DA2 without too much context from Origins. As a standalone system, I had fun with its fast paced and, on PC, the ability to still pause and strategize your team in fights.

      @@MegaMadVladMMO yeah actually over the last three weeks i started to play origins and da2 .. I'm about to do a second run with different choices just to see what actually changes and then I'm super excited for inquisition what I haven't played yet 😁
      Oh right one thing i forgot.. i hate it how in da2 in basically every fight enemies are just respawning.. that makes it so hard to go for a strategy .. in origins you could see the one mage that need to be killed first and then there was no 2nd wave of enemies
      But yeah i still love this game.. not as much like origins but i still love it ha

      I'm used to video games doing the added waves of enemies so that part didn't bother me lol But that's what different perspectives are for lol

      @@Felix-gj8et lol Legacy took me a bit to beat because of the final boss. Before I understood that you can just hide up with the statues and take little damage from the fire, I was constantly pausing the game and telling my allies to move between each plume of fire. Mostly because that fire was STUPID damaging lol
      Once I found out the damage goes down drastically while next to the statues, I beat him in one try.
      I need to run it again because I need to take Carver with me this time to see what dialogue changes lol

    In attack of Dragon Age II this game is bad. Boring protagonist, boring companions (except for Sebastian), uninteresting and tedious main story and side quests, boring gameplay and combat, dull locations and lazy background and artwork made for each map and worst of all it feels like a generic mobile game made for PC just with the Dragon Age name on it. No tactics or strategy used like in Origins just your braindead luck hack and slash until you win and grind your way to the next chapter. Bioware’s lowest of the low. Andromeda and Anthem are so much better made games despite having flaws and inconsistency to them as well. At least they are fun to play and have amazing graphics, gameplay and combat. Dragon Age II has way too many glaring issues for a legendary franchise to have and unappealing things as well to it. I wish it was a little bit better made and thought for. Feels like an unworthy entry in the series, everything is so limited in terms of quality and quantity and the general exceptations for a good and a well made game. It’s like a wannabe Dark Souls title except it’s the shitty version of it. So far this series is 2/3 of amazing titles. Hopefully DA4 doesn’t fall into the same pit of despair as DA II did and picks up the greatness of Origins and Inquisition.
