For me this is why i like Rza better than Dre when it comes to production. He had to accommodate to the many styles in the group while still being able to bring it all together and make some of the most iconic beats/sounds in hip hop.
"If you're not a hip hop fan, I'm not going to promise to you this thing will change your world view." You'd be surprised how intensely this album transcended hip hop not only to fans of other genres, but pop culture alone. I was 16 when this shit dropped. Skaters, metal heads, even the suburban barbie white chicks were spelling out Method Man and making Kung Fu sounds. It was nothin to fuck wit.
I used to dislike rap, i would stick to metal and rock, but after listening to Wu-Tang for the first time, it definitively changed my point of view on rap
Robert Emerson I agree. I will admit, he’s an amazing rapper. I can’t deny eminem’s talent. However, I feel like he doesn’t have an album that’s truly amazing. I will accept SSLP-MMLP-TES as being considered classics but I don’t really think they are worthy of being classics personally, they are good but IMO not that good. Albums like liquid swords (my personal favorite), The Chronic, The Low End Theory, To Pimp A Butterfly, etc... as much more coherent albums.
bcauz Game Studio That's an excellent point, I would say that MMLP is most likely his best album, but when compared to something like Illmatic, Ready to die, the 36 Chambers and the albums you mentioned it just doesn't compare.
As much as I love Illmatic, I think it gets way too much credit for being the album that single handedly won New York the title of Capital Of Hip-Hop back from the West Coast. This album is what did that. I'm a huge fan of classic West Coast, but I love how this album is basically the anti G-Funk.
NeroAngelo616 i do disagree and while i do think BIG is overrated(lots of people consider him like top 3 which i personally dont) i could definitely see where that opinion comes from considering some people i know prefer RTD over illmatic
Feels like hip-hop more? Ready and 36 are dimensions more varied compared to one song Illmatic. Illmatic is remembered known for being Illmatic instead more so of its individual tracks compared to the two.

Shit man no one ever talks about “can it be all so simple”. I’ve been listening to this album front to back lately and that song really sticks out to me. The beat is so strange and sad and the story telling is very vivid. Definitely a highlight of the album imo
The beauty of Wu-Tang is that while every MC is different (like he said), they all sound similar enough to keep the flow and it doesn’t feel jarring to switch between the rappers

I still remember the day this album dropped I went down to Sam Goody and bought it. When I listened to it for the first time I was taken away by how dope it was. The sounds RZA used in his beats, the lyrics, the Martial Arts chops. Absolutely epic experience to real hip-hop heads.
I really think you should give Liquid Swords the Classics shot, its by far my favorite solo Wu-Tang effort from this era, GZA is sooo lyrical and the production on that album really takes more of a forefront, it's actually very forward-thinking I think.
this album changed hip hop for ever, Each track, each mc, each verse, not to mention the Wu Tang Logo/symbol, there has never been any other before or after the come along that comes close to The Rza Production and how hard raw true rugged pure and stealth this entire album is ... its the main reason why i got a huge Wutang W tatted on my chest and wear proudly to this very day ... Wutang isnt just hip hop , Wutang is a way of life !
Easily in my top 10 hip-hop albums and one of the most essential albums in the genre. It's just immaculate from song to song. RZA's vision and the bars on this are timeles
This album will always remind me of being 11 years old listening to Hot-97 in NY, sitting at the radio+cassette recorder with one finger on the record button and one on the play button trying to catch songs to put on tape. Only years later did I realize that half of that mixtape was Wu Tang because there were different members on each track. In my opinion, this is the greatest rap album of all time. It’s basically so recognizable, so influential, and so ingrained in the fabric of rap and music production in general that it’s become underrated.
I bought this album the day it came out and listening to it brand spanking new was such an experience. I was still a kid and just hearing the uncensored version of protect ya neck for the first time after I bought the cassette single of it was like seeing nudity in a movie for the 1st time.. I was like woww because I never really heard music with curse words before, especially not a song with such a cool beat. Listening the whole album when it came out was like seeing a very rated R movie for the first time, it was amazing
I'd choose "7th chamber" as my fav beat track and my overall fav tunes from this album are "protect ya neck" and "da mystery of chessboxin'" but obviously i love all of them in my opinion that's the best rap album in history. no doubt!!! I still have shivers going down my spine when listening this masterpiece so many years... even talking about "enter the wu-tang..." definitely #1 and nothing will change that :)
I looked up his 50 best rappers of all time and he didnt mention inspectah deck, now i see this video and he also didnt mention him im very sad bout this, hes just so god damn underrated
every single song on this album are so memorable. C.R.E.A.M has the legendary piano, Method Man (song) has a really cool vibe to it, Shame on a Ni**a is straight up funky and Protect Ya Neck has some of the best verses with nearly every member being on it.
With what you were saying about songs with multiple MCs and how you hate the songs where they all have the same style (~5:30) I'm curious what you think of Odd Future's Oldie. I thought their styles were different enough personally, but I've heard some complaints of similarities between verses/MCs.
would you please Do more of these vids & Review albums like the chronic, illmatic, ready to die, all eyes on me, reasonable doubt, doggystyle, The marshall mathers lp , Get rich or die tryin. that would be Fuckin great anyways keep doing what you're doin brah!
as a fan of both kung fu flix and hip hop music since a young one, when Wu Tang first dropped I was in heaven, me and my crew even incorporated Shaolin slang into our vernacular. 1 of the Best Hip Hop albums of all time imo
The thing about this album is when you feel it it reallly makes you hype, but if you are not really feeling it is not really anything special. But when i feel the energy i can vibe to this harder than anything else. When you go into depth with the beats, they are also entertaining, and there are so many details, which just takes the beats to the next level. I think that this is my favorite album of all time. I also think that the Rzas work on this album is sooo underrated. My favorite verses on both cream, and 7th chamber are by him. And of course his samples on the whole album are top notch.
This was also my introduction to hiphop, and when i listen to it now, about 2-3 years later, it really takes me back. Another thing i would like to mention is that this album and the infamous by mobb deep, are very similar, in some ways at least. fx. Havocs work on the infamous, might be, in my opinion the best sampling and beatmaking in hiphop, ever. If you haven't listen to it i would high recommend it. Would be sivk if you made an album review of that, if you haven't already.
The RZA is my favorite rapper on the album. His voice is just so powerful and badass and he gives off this leading energy the way he kicks off some tracks
I love it because it's raw. It feels like a pack of dogs that are starving. The beats are pure basement. It's the best of getting something out of nothing. A hip hop classic hands down
Born in '96, but heard this album around the time I was maybe 7, thanks to my older brother. Probably the 1st hip-hop record I can remember listening to & molded my view/taste in hip-hop till this day.
Im really glad you reviewed some of these classic albums man.. this one, folsom prison, etc. It refreshing to see someone point attention to actually good music.
You know its kind of funny, he said "if you dont like hip-hop, this might not change your world view", because this was the first hip-hop album I got into, after never wanting anything to do with the genre. This album fucking rules.
"I'm not going to promise to you that this is going to change your world view if you haven't heard this album" For me it did. For 20 years of my life I didn't care for hip hop. This showed me there's good stuff out there and, it's worth listening to these people's stories.
For me this is why i like Rza better than Dre when it comes to production. He had to accommodate to the many styles in the group while still being able to bring it all together and make some of the most iconic beats/sounds in hip hop.

Wu tang clan ain't nuttin' ta fuck wit'
Wu tang clan ain't nuttin' ta fuck wit'
WOO HA !
WOO HA !
This is one of the greatest albums of all time. Love every single song
influential rap albums on east coast music
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers
Nas - illmatic
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
... mobb deep ...
Rakim
Fuckin Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill, the album that paved the way for rap becoming popular and commercially viable.
I agree mr. Chicken.
Big L
one of my favorite reviews to watch by you. this is also one of my favorite albums of all time
I can tell
lmfao
I'd choose "7th chamber" as my fav beat track and my overall fav tunes from this album are "protect ya neck" and "da mystery of chessboxin'" but obviously i love all of them in my opinion that's the best rap album in history. no doubt!!! I still have shivers going down my spine when listening this masterpiece so many years... even talking about "enter the wu-tang..."
definitely #1 and nothing will change that :)
Finally listened to this thing yesterday. Fucking incredible. Makes me want to get more into classic hip hop
With what you were saying about songs with multiple MCs and how you hate the songs where they all have the same style (~5:30) I'm curious what you think of Odd Future's Oldie. I thought their styles were different enough personally, but I've heard some complaints of similarities between verses/MCs.
1 word: wack
you take that back lol
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords are the best Wu-Tang efforts in my opinion.
This is the best review of this album ive seen. Whenever i recommened it to someone new to the wu tang i just show them this video.
would you please Do more of these vids & Review albums like the chronic, illmatic, ready to die, all eyes on me, reasonable doubt, doggystyle, The marshall mathers lp , Get rich or die tryin. that would be Fuckin great anyways keep doing what you're doin brah!
ending: STRONG 10
green day - 10
an album that can never be overhyped. perfect.
How this nigga look the exact same 8 years later
don't call him the n word
I know he's only 50% black but still
The best hip hop album ever!!!
as a fan of both kung fu flix and hip hop music since a young one, when Wu Tang first dropped I was in heaven, me and my crew even incorporated Shaolin slang into our vernacular. 1 of the Best Hip Hop albums of all time imo
PLZ DO REVIEWS FOR BIGGIE'S MUSIC
Crazy seeing Anthony celebrate 50k suns knowing where he’s at now
This is my favorite hip hop album of all time, thanks for the upload man
One of my top 5 greatest hip hop albums of all time. Gritty dark shit, love that New York shit
This album never gets old
u didnt like method mans tical album?? i thought that was pretty dope
The RZA is my favorite rapper on the album. His voice is just so powerful and badass and he gives off this leading energy the way he kicks off some tracks
YOU HAD THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO SAY WU TANG FOREVER
"Lyrical ninjas in a hip-hop dojo"
Love that
I love it because it's raw. It feels like a pack of dogs that are starving. The beats are pure basement. It's the best of getting something out of nothing. A hip hop classic hands down
Im confused... did he mention RZA at all??? Maybe its just my selective hearing... but I did not hear anything about mr. Bobby D.
you're deaf
GuyanaOFFICIAL Not really, he only mentioned him like once or twice.
He pronounces RZA as 'Rizza'
Miran Pavlovic that would be the proper pronunciation.
Miran Pavlovic You must be new.
36 Chambers is life
Born in '96, but heard this album around the time I was maybe 7, thanks to my older brother. Probably the 1st hip-hop record I can remember listening to & molded my view/taste in hip-hop till this day.
nowa days hipsters wearing wu shirts and aint ever head their music lmfao
Im really glad you reviewed some of these classic albums man.. this one, folsom prison, etc. It refreshing to see someone point attention to actually good music.
My 4th favourite album of all time, so good.
You know its kind of funny, he said "if you dont like hip-hop, this might not change your world view", because this was the first hip-hop album I got into, after never wanting anything to do with the genre. This album fucking rules.
Cal done turned the rap game on its head. It's like Control all over again.
"I'm not going to promise to you that this is going to change your world view if you haven't heard this album"
For me it did.
For 20 years of my life I didn't care for hip hop. This showed me there's good stuff out there and, it's worth listening to these people's stories.
