@@kreiyu Thing is that this is not really an Anime, it is a Chinese Animation or Donghua, the Chinese equivalent to Japanese Anime. That is why you noticed that the characters have NO Japanese names, and instead they have Chinese names. Donghua stories are so overly complicated, over saturated with almost all cliches and tropes that they render their stories to be so boring.
@EternalRoman i did notice the Chinese names, but I hadn't thought much of it. But that would explain a lot.
I still think Japanese anime needs new inspiration, though. Feels like more than half of what's come out in the last decade has been some variation of isekai or death game. And even though some have unique takes on the genre, they're still part of the over saturation problem.
@@kreiyu I agree, the issue stems from the fact that Anime really does not pay well in Japan, and practically it is made on a daily basis. As you know there is a plethora of Anime genre for all tastes and ages. It is may well seem like the ones you mentioned are the most commercially viable in the current market. But back in the day of the late 80s and early 90s with the US and the rest of the world having a limited exposure to Anime, it was still so novel to these countries that many unique stories could be made for specific audiences.
That is why you look up 90s Anime that veers more to the late Teens and Adults, it has better quality, better stories and are in a sense more interesting, entertaining and shocking. Just compare the new Trigun Remake and compare it to the late 90s Trigun series and you will get a glimpse. Or watch the 90s NINJA SCROLL Ova and see the quality of the story and animation.

I was so confused that they had Chinese names. Turns out this was a collaboration of Chinese and Japanese artists. It's also weird that it's based in the country of Japan yet the kids have Chinese names.
This is NOT an Anime, it is a Donghua, the Chinese equivalent of Japanese Anime. Most of the Donghua are really crappy, they look cool but are so boring and overly complex in a lame way.
@EternalRoman there are good ones such as Link Click, Cupid's Chocolates and (my favorite) Daily Life of the Immortal King.
@@kyrohowe3156 The first Donghua I saw was about a cyborg or android girl that was a sort of special agent and she had Bee themed high tech. At first it started cool, but right in the middle of the first episode it started with the cliche stuff and the over super stoic bad@$$ attitude and the apparent protagonist guy being the cowardly dude that was in a hostage situation in a bank. Lost interest before the episode finished.
Then the second Donghua was about a group of people that were thrown into an Island and similar to this one here had to form an alliance with some strangers. With betrayals and a countdown and a whole load of crap, it also became tedious though I lasted longer watching that one.
I've had better luck with Hanguk Aeni (The Korean equivalent to Anime) especially with the first one I watched called Wonderful Days. It seems that Koreans to their chagrin being a bit similar to Japan in many ways, have been able to have better writers for their production. And it would make sense, since many Anime are sent to South Korea for animation.

Man, this is exactly what a generic anime is supposed to be. Every cliché, every trope, every convoluted yet somehow simplistic plot beat...even the art style is generic.
They mixed Tokyo Ghoul, Blade and Battle Royale...and somehow made this. A true reverse-daywalker; None of the strengths, all of the weaknesses.

@@wyettmunro470gravity rush is also based around the Mc, she absolutely can use objects around her and change their gravity. I would assume this is what inspired this power; as gravity rush was huge in japan

I was actually interested in watching this show.. but based on this video, everything feels... needlessly complicated. I don't know... I actually lost a lot of interest and is now a MIGHT watch instead of a WILL watch show. Example: as you said: why was "alternate timeline" the first thing they thought of when they reached the 2nd location after the warehouse. The MC's power's limitation was also needlessly complicated and felt more like it was put there as a plot point than a natural limitation.
Oh also, I have a strong feeling the source material of this anime is from a Chinese Manhua or a Chinese writer. While the text you see all over the place is definitely Japanese, the naming convention for all significant characters, except maybe Ange, is surprisingly very Chinese. It did kinda throw me off a bit when I watched this video. End of it all, it doesn;t really matter, but it did make me pause for a second

OK I don't understand the rules. Your counter goes up if you murder someone? But earlier it counted down when attempting to murder someone and the claim was that you're not allowed to kill each other. This seems contradictory.
Probably it was a means of not starting the thing with them.killing one another until they killed one of those monsters. Or it could be that they reduce one day per killing attempt

To be clear this is a Donghua not an Anime. Donghua are the Chinese equivalent to Japanese Anime, aside that their stories are pure cliche and boring while being overblown. Because of this, a Donghua may appear to be more like a satire of Anime.

I remember watching it when it came out, when was it 10 or less years ago? And believe it or not I was surprised and ended up not dropping it and it was pretty decent, definitely better then most generic shit that comes out nowadays like Boku Hero or Re:Zero, you know the kiddy shows that are made for little boys.
Definitely would love a sequel to this but most likely will never happen, too mature of a show just like golgo 13, Bartender or Cobra.
