I really like that the main character is the weakest of the group, so rare to have animes where mc isn't the strongest person ever
That's a really common troupe. It's more of a modern anime trend to make anime protagonist overpowered at the start. Most notable example of the "weakest in the group" I can think of off the top of my head was Naruto.
Clare wasn't actually ever the weakest... though her full potential of power didn't exist (or wasn't unleashed) until she became a Half-Awakened, and I'm not talking about Teresa's power within her either, I'm talking about Clare herself and her own "Clare" power
it is confusing though as to how weak/powerful she was before becoming a Half-Awakened, as you got the special chapter of her as a Trainee, being completely bad'ss and OP, but then you see her (possibly seemingly) struggling in the first few chapters until she becomes a Half-Awakened, though she could just be faking her "weakness" too, as she's very deceptive, so it's really hard to say about pre-Half-Awakened Clare...
She's not the weakest. She has the lowest raw power because she is only 1/4 Yoma (she was made a Claymore using Teresa's cells, not a Yoma), but this also means that she is at a dramatically lower chance of going crazy and has Teresa's absolutely broken ability. So she is actually more dangerous, as she can access more of her power without risking turning than a lot of other Claymore, who have higher raw power levels, but more restrictions on it.
Also, she can activate her awakened form, swap with the remnant of Teresa and kill pretty much anything. One hit from awakened Teresa and even Priscilla is dust.
@@theprogressivecynic2407 perfect (but spoiling everything, laughs), except that Clare's own power level isn't exactly weak despite that it seems weak to others (well, pre-Half-Awakening, maybe, but not after Half-Awakening, as that enabled Clare's access to her own great potential power: Clare's Partially Awakened left side: which is her own Partial Awakening, whereas her right side, or more specifically, "her's"... Irene's... right arm, is Irene's own Partial Awakening, is proof of Clare's own power potential in the "flesh", hehe good pun, her thick Demon Scorpion of Vengeance Sarah Kerrigan Queen of Blades form), along with accessing Teresa's and eventually synchronizing/releasing/freeing Teresa to be able to take control over Clare's body), indeed, Clare can likely (if it weren't for Jean's "mental block", preventing Clare from even using her Partial Awakening again) go full Awaken (like Teresa), yet remain in full control, due to being 1/4 Yoma, and yes, as seen, Teresa can take over Clare's body, as Teresa is still alive within Clare (as Teresa's brain was used for Clare becoming a Claymore, with Clare holding out Teresa's head, DEMANDING of Rubel himself, to "put Teresa's flesh and blood within her", which would be her brain, as that is what Clare has, Teresa's head, and when Teresa got decapitated, Teresa was still alive, and remained alive, due to her brain being placed within Clare's body, which turned Clare into the unique Claymore that she is, with only 1/4 yoma, allowing Clare to use her yoma power more fully than any other Claymore, without the risk of the yoma within her taking over her body and mind, Clare is the ultimate potential of a Half-Awakened: being able to fully Awaken, while remaining in full control of themselves as a "human"/Claymore minded being, instead of as a yoma-minded being, being able to Awaken and de-Awaken at will, without any usage of the Soul Link, able to fully harness their full power of Awakening, yet remaining in full control of themselves, like Teresa can already do, just due to being so powerfully godly as she is, but never needing to do so
Unfortunately, Teresa committed suicide, as she didn't want Clare to be stuck with her (even though Clare is still stuck with Rafaela), and so, we'll never get to see the Legendary Twin Goddesses of Love, when both Teresa and Clare, inhabiting the same body (Clare's), Awakens together, sighs

all Teresa needed to kill Awakened (+possibly Destroyer) Priscilla, was to Partially Awaken (growing wings, and just the backs of her legs), and using the Quick Sword Technique

@@redmoonbloodmoon3161 I think that Clare and Teresa were functioning somewhat similar to Alicia and Beth, but in one body. One of them can take over the body and start awakening, while the other tethers them and prevents them from fully awakening.
I'm still surprised that they never made a sequel series to Claymore, with the Claymores fighting the forces on the mainland that decided to use the island as their own personal laboratory for WMDs. I seriously doubt that the mainland nation is going to just let them go peacefully, no matter what Rubel said. Also, they never really go into exactly what Raki became, as he is clearly no longer human given that he has Priscila's and the Destroyer's cells in his body, but he isn't really a Claymore either.

Honestly, Claymore was a really special anime for me. Because of the idea and the story in general, the anime, from its inception, draws you to know more about the world and the characters. Personally, this dark drawing style in Claymore is one of my favorite types. The opening song and the ending were very good, especially the ending. Also, one of the things that I liked the most about Claymore is that no character is safe, there is always danger and threat to the characters all the time. But for sure, the anime has some negatives, such as the dialogues, most of which were empty and worthless, and also the end of the anime was unsatisfactory because many questions were not answered. And my rating for the anime is 8.5/10

Teresa ONLY died because she lowered her YR (Yoki Release) back below 10% (back to having silver eyes and circular/radial pupils), not having the needed 10% YR power to be able to react to 80% YR Orcish Priscilla's attack

Claymore was probably the anime that really opened the door for anime for me. I had seen anime before that (my first anime being Record of Lodoss War) but no anime I had seen before Claymore really grabbed me enough to really dive into anime as a main source of content.
Man, the ending of this anime left me wanting more. I love dark and edgy anime like this. Like Berserk. The world building and story concept is very captivating. The power levels are easy to understand. It's got great characters too.
Loved the ideas on how to survive this world. Can't wait for part 2. It's very intriguing

Claymore holds a special place in my heart as it was one of my first ever anime back when i was in grade school. Have i seen better? Yes. Do i love this like its my child anyway? Also yes.
For those who never seens this show or got confused. There is a difference between "awakened being" and "voracious eater". Awakened beings are female claymores who lost control, and voracious eaters are male claymores who lost control. But the reason there is no male claymores in the show is that they all turned into eaters (given there was only a few as the org. was testing if males could become claymores). These male claymores were far more suspeatable to loosing control, due to something about males have a harder time controling anger and a higher drive for power then females.
"voracious eater" is merely the euphemism used by the Organization to deceive the humans, away from the truth that it's their very own Claymores that become Awakeneds ("super yoma"), as the euphemism ("voracious eater") name/title says: they got more powerful from killing/eating lots of humans, but that's just a big fat lie, as Awakeneds is what eventually becomes of all Claymores (if they're not killed off first, of course), it has nothing to do with normal yoma killing and eating lots humans, and becoming more powerful from that, but that's the entire con-lie purpose of their euphemism of "voracious eater" towards humanity, while the actual term/name/description of them is "Awakeneds / Awakened Beings", unknown-to and redacted-from the human population
also, the sex, has no bearing either, Claymores are Claymores, regardless of male or female, and Awakeneds/"voracious-eaters" are Awakeneds/"voracious-eaters", regardless of male or female

the Organization LIES about many many many things, never believe anything that the Organization says...
actually, the male Claymores (on the island), CHOSE to all Awaken, all at the same time, together, in defiance/rebellion against being the Organization's puppets/slaves/controlled anymore, with most of them following under Isley the Silver King, though a few went "independent", and at least one "stayed" (forced: be our secret executioner or our rank 1-5 Claymores will kill you) with the Organization (the "spiderman / praying mantis" male Awakened that Clare, Miria, Deneve, and Helen fought and killed), and Dauf of course went with Riful
Riful: who actually was a Claymore, at the same time as or with: Claymore Isley, Claymore Rigardo, and Claymore Dauf, they were all Claymores at the same time, but we don't know if Riful was the only female Claymore with the male Claymores, or if there were other female Claymores as well, we don't know if they still had only 47 Claymores during this time, as if they did, most of the 47 are accounted for already, as male Awakeneds, so that wouldn't leave many ranks left for more female Claymores beyond Riful, and also we don't even know what rank Riful would be either, as ranks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, are already taken by the males: Isley, Rigardo, Dauf, Chronos, and Lars, but this does leave open rank 5 for Claymore Riful, which could work, as she was the first female (and also still very young too) Claymore to be a rank 1 in power, and just because rank 5 is the only position open for her, doesn't mean she doesn't have the power of a rank 1, as we know quite well, but we also got an issue of when Riful Awakened, as she was a rank 1 in power, becoming an Abyssal, if she didn't Awaken with the males, then what about Dauf, what did Dauf do and/or when? we got some unknown holes or issues, that we just don't and won't get the answers to them...
so, the whole 'adrenaline/lust/high/etc' explanation about male Claymores losing themselves and becoming Awakeneds, by the Organization, is a big fat lie by them, as they can't tell the actual truth
originally, and likely a still on-going/used/employed tactic too, on the continent, the Organization would send in the male Claymores right into the Dragons and Dragon Kinsman "camp", and the male Claymores would Awaken to fight with the Dragons and/or kill and do as much damage as they can to their enemy, while the Organization's "infantry" (normal yoma in armor, likely using the indestructible claymore swords) would fight against the Dragon's kinsman
the only reason that only female Claymores are created on the island (aside from the first batch of Claymores being males): sadly, females are easier to control, and also more emotional too, which is what determines a Claymore's/Awakened's power level, is their emotional state/damage when they're created, and so, the females are potentially able to be much more powerful than the males (Teresa, Priscilla, Destroyer, Riful+Dauf+Destroyer, Clare, Rafaela, Cassandra, and Miata, proves this, being arguably the top most powerful characters in the manga, laughs)

Not true. Voracious eaters are larger and more powerful than a Yoma (not gender specific). Awakened being has a higher power level, then there's the Abyssal ones and of course there's another higher power level that surpasses the Abyssal ones. Those are the different levels of Yoma. Men also turn into Yoma because of sexual pleasure, not because of anger and control for power.

Bro, I’m so happy he’s doing this one. Claymore is one of my favorite, mature fantasy animes of all time this is one of the first animes. I watched and I’ve watched it at least three or four separate times after that I really wish you continued because from what I heard in the manga it gets so good and the guy actually becomes a bad ass here’s hoping for a Claymore remake or continuation in the next couple years.
Claymore will always hqve a special place for me ,one of the first anime i saw and force me to read the manga because the anime finished at a crucial and exciting moment,never thought i would get into manga and reading because i saw it as boring compared to animation..and boy i was wrong.❤

Dissing my Teresa - watch it.
Claymore gravitated to me night found my brother's computer. Could not wait for the next episode after next episode to download. The author intended story - continues into the drawn manga is out of this world. Taken by surprise when someone i knew a huge fan.
with the manga it shows you honestly don't need to make claymore to beat yoma. raki, who annoys much of the fanbase becomes a well trained gigachad when he's older and proves that humans can beat yoma through training, humans can't detect them though so he's carrying around a yoma that doesn't attack him. the only real difference between a human trained to kill a yoma and a claymore created to kill yoma is detecting them
of course that goes out the window fighting awakened beings, they are far stronger and faster than yoma and many of them are massive. the organisation deems them too much of a risk for claymore to handle on their own so they'll only tackle them with a squad, though these squads are full of anti social warriors that almost never team up
the manga does eventually go into why the organisation seems so bad at their job, they create weapons to exterminate yoma which presumably protects humans but a lot of things they do creates more threats, like the awakened beings for example. a yoma may terrorise a town over time but the organisation's solution is to create warriors that will become something worse and pretty much flatten a town and eat everyone without hiding, they don't seem to care that humans are killed either, only that their rules are broken
the only way to beat claymore I can see is Miria. many times throughout the manga she's shown to be an excellent leader, she's also the only one suspicious enough of the organisation to study them and also yoma origins. why keep endlessly slaying a threat when you don't know where they come from? Miria is the one character who finds why claymore doesn't make sense.
don't just mindlessly do your job, find out why you're doing it
the normal yoma are physically superior to humans in every way, but a group of humans can kill them (well, against a single yoma, anyways), and even an individual human can kill them, but they must be specifically trained for it, as Raki was (basically, like with Goblin Slayer, with him knowing everything about goblins), Raki was trained to know everything about normal yoma, so he knows what they're going to do ahead of time, which enables him, a physically inferior human, to kill them, though, Raki was also trained to be very strong and tough too... of course... for his real task/purpose... wink, so Raki is really a huge exception... most humans can't ever kill a normal yoma... except maybe Galk... lol, but again, the first and major hurdle is the "detection" issue for humans... without even getting into whether they then physically and/or tactically can kill normal yoma or not
also, with Raki... he had a very special teacher/trainer... Isley the Silver King... who was one of the best in swordsmanship and war/combat/strategy/tactics as well too, making Raki further an exception, as no other human would have such expertise from their teachers/trainers, as Raki had from his...
Isley the Silver King was a "one man army", which is why he cared nothing for others, as he had no need for others, he was his own army, as seen by his Awakened form, he himself was the entire "joint forces" (except for air and water, lol): infantry (sword, shield, axe), cavalry (horse body, lance, and shield), and archery (bow)
(I might be missing a few other "Arm Modes/Weapons"... can't remember if he had a Mace-Blunt-type Arm mode... or some other type of Arm Mode/Weapon... it's been too long, sighs)
To be fair the organization didn't create the Claymore to fight the yoma. They actually [read the manga] and the Claymore as [seriously it's great] to see if they could [Its full of twists] and technically they [are really good villains]. The goal is understandable but the execution is more than questionable.
Also to be fair to the Claymore, whenever one starts asking questions, they are... Silenced. Endoctrinement and constant surveillance make it hard to plan a rebellion. And don't get me started on the [seriously it's really good] shit they pulled out in the end.

mate, the organization makes and releases the yoma, they're just failed experiments/claymores.
SO manga reader here and it was incredible. After reading the manga i checked out the anime and descovered its flaws, towards the end it strays away from the canon ending which is understandable as you cant fit 27 Volumes into 26 anime episodes. This was really dissapointing because i wouldve loved for this series to have an accurate portrayal as it deserves. I dont blame the studio because clearly they did the best they could which was to alter the real ending of the story but it does not compare to the manga. It would be so great to have a remake of this anime and i would reccomend the manga to anyone who gets the chance to read it!
people should watch the anime first, and if they enjoy Claymore, then read the manga, as you know, it doesn't work that well, the other way around, with reading the manga first, and then go watching the anime, lol

so, obviously, the anime studio had to create their own ending... and it shows.. sighs... (it's not completely terrible on its own, but it does have a lot of flaws/laziness too, especially with how Clare "delivers the final blow" to Priscilla, vomit, sighs, as the anime studio clearly just wanted to end it, getting really lazy, which is seen beginning in their pieta battle episodes and continues on until its ending in its last episode)

I didnt know the anime was made before the manga finished so it makes mroe sense that they completely went off the source meterial, just a bit disappointing that they tried to finish something thay wasnt. I think anime should be completely original or just an adaptation of the manga. I only skimmed through the anime just to see the quality of it (pretty good for when it was made) but I dont intend on watching the anime at all now. I am really glad that a lot of people seem to like it though as maybe they can check out the manga afterwards! :)
the anime was catching up to the manga, the manga had a publishing issue at that time, so they had an alternate ending ready.

Claymore chests aren't just scarred. They have a gaping wound from sternum to groin that never heals and is barely stitched shut. The process of making a Claymore involves cutting a living human open and putting yoma flesh inside of her.

They are stitched together and never properly heal. The vomiting was not an exaggerated reaction that's some serious Frankenstein stuff. What she did wasn't even a bluff or genuine hope, she got the reaction she expected. She just continued toying with him.

Claymores are literally created by a "reverse C-Section" surgery: their stomachs and wombs are cut open, the yoma flesh placed into their wombs, then their wombs and stomachs are sewn or stitched back up, but instead of the yoma flesh creating or becoming a baby (lol), it instead mutates their entire human bodies into Claymore bodies, that is, if they don't reject the yoma flesh and die outright, and if they're able to handle the process/mutation and not die outright, and then, if able to survive the process, are they able to handle/control/restrain the half yoma side in them from taking them over "immediately" (after X amount of time: their "quarantine" time in the prison cells deep under the Organization's HQs), becoming Yoma/Awakened, and subsequently killed... or used... by the Organization... lol
(as for male Claymores... I guess the exact same stuff is done and occurs, but of course without the womb, as males don't have wombs, so, the yoma flesh would just be put into their stomachs, and it still mutates their bodies, anyways, otherwise, don't ask me about how the male Claymores are created, laughs)
now, the sewn/stitched up surgical scar (the "stigmata") (from their necks/collarbones to their pubes/crotch/pelvis), always remains, as it never heals up, and must be stitched/sewn back up if ripped/torn open/apart, as if the "something monstrous" were to spill/fall out, they would die...
the "something monstrous" is the mutated yoma flesh that was put into them... as while the sewn or stitched up scar (the "stigmata") can be very gross, there's actually something far more foul/vile/grotesque underneath/behind the sewn or stitched up scar...
it is this "something monstrous" (the mutated yoma flesh that was put into them), that which is their true "vital organs" and/or maybe also their "true human body" (for Awakeneds), and thus, if this "something monstrous" is damaged, they'll also die, it is this "something monstrous" (and also the surgical sewn or stitched up scar sealing it up) that can NOT ever be healed up or regenerated or etc, like the rest of their body can be
So, both the sewn or stitched up scar needs to be checked if it got torn/ripped/broken open or not, and also the "something monstrous" underneath/behind the sewn or stitched up scar, needs to be checked for damage... well, that's not likely actually directly being checked... lol, but you know what I mean, both can be fatal (for a Claymore, as Awakeneds lose their sewn/stitched up scars, but they do still have that "something monstrous", which is their "vital organs" and/or their "real human body", which is fatal for them if it gets damaged)
it's possible... a few Claymores may be able to move around that "something monstrous", just like a few Awakeneds can do so (Riful, Ophelia, and maybe a few others I'm forgetting)
Clare seems to be able to always avoid her sewn or stitched up scar and/or the "something monstrous" from getting damaged (except with the "Claymore-yoma" punching through her stomach), due to "her" (Teresa's) Internal Yoki Sensing Ability, or maybe she's also able to move around her "something monstrous" (only way to explain Clare not dying from getting punched through her stomach), possibly...
presumably, most other Claymores need to get their surgical scars, re-sewn/re-stitched back up, but the manga never shows this, presumably it happens "often" and "off-screen/off-page", laughs
we also do see/have Miria get completely big fat thick long tongue "R and stuffed" within her entire stomach/womb/torso area of her body... surely that would have killed her, damaging her "something monstrous"... but it didn't... now, she is a Half-Awakened, so maybe now as a Half-Awakened, she can move around her "something monstrous", as frankly, I can't think of any other explanation of how that didn't kill her... lol
Also... I'm not sure if the Half-Awakeneds even still have their sewn up or stitched up surgical scars or not... as Awakeneds no longer have them... though we do see Clare's sewn up or stitched up surgical scar (the manga finally revealing it to us, lol), and this is late in the manga, too, but Clare may be a special case, due to all that happens to her in the later part of the manga, lol, so it can still be the case that the "normal" Half-Awakeneds don't have the sewn up or stitched up surgical scars, while the "ab-normal" Half-Awakened Clare, does have it or got it back, laughs

Claymore is still my favorite anime and manga of all time. Such a shame they stopped the anime. The manga was so good tho. Would've been so awesome seeing the later fighting scenes in the manga made into anime. T.T

Claymore is a great series!
I'm a coward so I would've ran as far as possible until they caught up to me and then I would have lied and said I was chasing one of those monsters.
If I could survive weeks without eating with that type of speed I would've started traveling the world to see how far I can go.
They're on an island in the middle of nowhere and the rest of the world is even worse than the shitty island because of the giant man eating [Redacted]. You can't escape the organization. You can at best [Redacted] and [Redacted] all over their faces
I watched claymore when i was 9 and rewatched it so many time that i can relay details about this show wthout needing a recap. Its one of those dark anime that's really good and if you're emotional it'll make you get reallly attached to certain characters

manga Raki is so much better, much more mature, and then he gets really awesome later on...
the anime studio is stupid, making Raki be more immature... as I guess they wanted a "sidekick" trope character for Raki, hence making him be much more immature than he is within the manga
and this isn't even getting into hearing the VA'ing of him, of Raki being far more immature (and very whiny/cry'ey) in the anime...

Claymoreeeee has a lot, like a LOTTTTT of potential to be one of the most thrilling and exciting animes of all time but the ending was anti-climatic it feels so fast paced.

"the Organization" and its "warriors", both without having specific/proper names
'Claymores' and/or 'Silver-Eyed Witches', are what the humans call the "warriors" of "the Organization", whom wield the special unbreakable/indestructible claymore (scottish/"bravehart" two-handed) swords of "the Organization"
So pretty much a Claymore is essentially a Witcher.

Claymore actually is the closest anime to Attack On Titan, it even spoils some concepts and etc within Attack On Titan, there's really a lot of similarities between them... wouldn't be surprised at all if Attack On Titan did use Claymore for a lot of its ideas...

there's no mentioning of Yoma (normal yoma, Claymores, Awakeneds, Half-Awakeneds, Abyss Feeders, Destroyer, Destroyer-Infected-Hosts, Destroyer-Spawns, and etc) having natural offspring, so we don't know if they're infertile or just not addressed by the story/lore/author/mangaka...
Despite that there are some normal yoma, Claymores, Awakeneds, and etc, having s'xual desires and engagement in s'x too
though, I think it is unlikely, as the "Yoma", is actually a virus, "the Yoma Virus", and has been seen infecting other hosts (how the Claymores and Abyss Feeders are created, and also with the Destroyer and its infecting of hosts), mutating them, and also creating "mini-clones" (Destroyer-Spawns), which is mitosis (as'xual) reproduction, and not the meiosis (s'xual) reproduction
also, with how (female) Claymores (don't ask about the male Claymores, laughs) and Abyss Feeders are created, is via a reverse C-section surgery, placing the normal yoma flesh or Awakened flesh into the female human's womb, which then mutates them into Claymores or Abyss Feeders, so that pretty much destroys any possibility of s'xual (meiosis) reproduction with female Yoma, though it's unknown with male Yoma, in whether they're rendered incapable or not
ultimately, there's really no point/meaning in them having s'xual reproduction in terms of the story/lore, due to all of the artificial methods of Yoma creation and with it being a virus, able to infect and as'xually (mitosis) reproduce, the normal benefits of s'xual (meiosis) reproduction don't apply for the story/lore of the Claymore world and etc
But the regenerate healing factor of all claymore hasn't changed that much. Also the claymores are mortal just like humans.
If they got injured and wounded, their wounds must be treated as good as possible to avoid wound infection. It could take more than one day until all wounds are healed at the claymores.
