Watch the video 3 times lol
What are your recommended minimal running shoes?
@@sigfreed11I think he uses Alta. I got the trail shoes on his recommendation. Caused a deep heel blister but now I wear thicker ankle socks and they are good. Love my regular soft Altas for every day
Thank you
I have flat feet and I use the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 (support shoe) takes the pain out of the inside of your knee and outside of your hip. I am a 5'10" 280lbs female and I have to buy the men's shoes (big feet 😅) Men's size 11 2E . I wish I could buy the pretty and bright sneakers. @@sigfreed11
I cannot stress enough how important it is to do silly, frivolous things that serve no other purpose than making you happy.
I love hearing about you and Jenna’s journey. Love the channel and the witty humor.
i absolutely love the pacing of your videos- how you manage to fit humor, personality, and lots of info in these videos proves how good you are at making them!
I’ve had a Varia for a couple of years and from the very first mile I realised it was a game changer. Gives a lot more confidence esp when approaching a right turn, and very handy when cycling in a pair.
Genius! Great video, fun to watch & great learning, thanks Mark! Happy New Year! 🎉
Happy New Year!
Good video to start to the year.
absolutely love your presenting style. it's what makes the channel for me
So excited everytime n video from you come out!
Having a gaming pc for an indoor bike is genuinely hilarious. Thanks for another great vid Mark
Your channel is so brutally honest. I love it. Thanks
Love how it can just be a simple thing that makes a huge difference. There isn’t much Street lighting in my area so when it gets dark, visibility is pretty low. I bought a running light that straps to the chest. It’s so simple, but I love using it. Has allowed me to keep running even in the pitch black and opened up my training schedule again 👍🏼
I ate more carrots. Same effect.
My husband has to run after dark and loves his Bindhi head torch.
@@stargazerbirdWhat makes it so good compared to any other head lamp that is out on the market?
Excellent rundown!
Ive been wanting a varia for a while. Great video thanks 👍🏾
Great video mark ❣️
Thanks! You’re amazing, motivational, and your videos are hilarious. Keep up the amazing work!
So kind of you 🩵🌷🌻🥰😁🥰🏐
Great video. Chuffed to see Andy Cornelius at Fitstuff Run Clinic Guildford who pops up 7:35 on the gait analysis. He saved my knees with Sport therapy and advice. Apr 2023 I couldn't walk down the stairs in the mornings... too painful. Saw him, performed the exercises and by October I had done 2 triathlons, a 10k race and back training in the Surrey hills. Recommend this small business!
The mouth taping line made me LOL.
Glad you'e back, Mark, like the beard. I restarted my running Jan 2, after taking the holidays off..and as an American, those start on July 4th. 😂 Don't know why I'm strugglin'....
Another great video, more stuff to add to my wish list haha
At the beginning of the year this is perfect timing. I now have some things in mind to save for, thanks 🙏
“almost any other, that’s a different video, different gadgets” 😭😂
Loving this channel
I have an infrared sauna. It is probably one of the best purchases I ever made! I have a radiant health 2.5 person corner unit. It gets up to 149F.
It helps with recovery so much! Sometimes I use it to warm up too.
They are great 👍🏼
I love my gym gadgets. Always adding small accessories to my home gym. Recently I got a pair of kensui swissies. Great for pull ups and converting a barbell to neutral grip. I’ve always wanted a sauna. Cost aside does it need much maintenance?
Great Videos, keep up the good work. Would love to hear about your other watches, as I'm in the same boat: Mechanical watch fan and fitness gadget geek!
For carrying a phone, I use a Flipbelt and it works great. I usually store phone/keys/card. Armbands look too silly.
I would generally second the flipbelt, because it's been working great for me. BUT Mark already has the apple watch, and that's probably the better option if it's already accessible.
Great video some really good ideas
Mark, you replied to a question I had about about vegan/plant based a few weeks ago & just realised I never replied. Sorry about that & thanks! All the best for the new year :)
Kineon is on my knee now watching this……pure genius…..WD40 for knees. Easy to take on trips too.
I have a garmin explore.
I only use it for navigation.
Another classic in the Mark Lewis Tradition. I too was torn between Garmin and Apple but I just take the Apple as I’m not above average. Still might supplement with a Garmin watch. I also use a REAL HOT ROCK SAUNA (😆) but also have a steam generator in the shower which is absolutely awesome. You should try it. The Varia should be required by law. It has saved my rear end several times. Your Pain Cave is exceptional but seems to be lacking in the best cardio equipment on the planet, The Versaclimber. I guess we can’t all be perfect. 😆 I like your style and set up. For the swimmers out there I think the best gadget for uncoached independent athletes is the FORM goggles. Anyways, always a pleasure to check my subscription notifications and see an update from you Sir Lewis. Always a pleasure indeed. Keep up the excellent work. 👊🏽👍🏽💪🏽😎
Very useful, thanks. Most telling discovery? Mrs L gets script approval - wasn't expecting that one!!!
I love the comedy in your videos!!
Then my job is complete 😂
Another great video. Honest, informative, always entertaining and food for thought as I ponder of my goals for my 72 yo body in an active 2024.
Thanks Mark.
Thanks a lot for the great vid. Inspiring to think about some new gadgets ;)
Short question. The red watch and for your Apple Watch Ultra is nice - which brand is it?
Thx
Liking the new scruff Mark. Would love a video on proper running technique. Or if anyone else has any recommended videos I'd really appreciate you sending them over.
I read the title of the video out whilst my future wife was sitting next to me she just laughed like I’m expecting you to buy everything on that list 😅
She’s a keeper 😂
Was interested in that LED joints thing. .... 450 bucks..... Lucky you got it for free mate
...buy them or don't buy them, I don't care... 👍😂🙉💪. You are the best! Happy New Year.
Commenting for the algorithm, thanks for the video Mark
Hey Mark great content as always. What is that cool watch face on your garmin called?? The one with 2 circles and the mechanical insides. I just got a 965 and hoping it’s available! And yes super shoes and varia for the win.
That radar garmin is no joke! Couldve saved my dad a few crashes and slides when he was a cyclist!
Hi Mark, i love the green band on your watch, wich one is it? Love 2 buy it for my garmin epix pro 😍
I have the mihi sauna blanket for two years now. Wear a sweat suit and i get a great sweat. Whats the problem with a sauna blanket? Something i missed?
Loving the videos. How loud is that blender?
"I've really got to say this...Kineon moves are available at Rawlinsons..." 😂
What are the minimalist shoes that you showed?
Varia is a game changer, so many mates have bought one after my recommendation and love them, wish I was on a commission from Garmin 😂
I've got two duff elbows that the infrared gadget might help with, but I've just had a look how much they are and I think I'll have to just put up with the pain 😂
Ha ha love the humour lol 😂😂😂, another awesome video
I can understand wanting to go with fancier footwear for the race itself. I rarely race but when I go on my long distance scrambly backpacking adventures my priorities shift from building strong feet and ankles, to minimizing the punishment my feet take for 20-30mi/day for 5-10 days!
That said, I often still go with my trusty Merrell Trail Gloves because A) they move with my foot (hence, Glove) and never give me blisters, B) thin soles means less leverage trying to roll ankles, C) I'm always hesitant to introduce an unknown, and D) they're still the best at fast-drying and traction on all but the loosest surfaces where knobby lugs would help.
If you're pavement-pounding for under 4hrs, the priorities are different.
Trail Glove 7s are my favourite, dome ultras in them, never a blister!
I'm not that susceptible to gadgets (wife might disagree), but I do like a good light. Head torches, bike lights...well worth spending the cash there imo.
Lovely video once again. I got curious about one other gadget: what kind of brand shirt are you wearing? Looks cool!
Best gadget (as a type1 diabetic with gcm) was a Unihertz JellyBean, if you have to carry a smart phone while running, much better if it's the size of a credit card.
Hahahah I just got pushed a Whoop ad 30 seconds after you threw one in the bin 😂😂
Gotta love the ad system 🤣
What's on wrist for the video? Bit of a watch collector myself. Digging the chunky case and nato but can't tell what it is.
Hi Mark, That was a run film, I agree with you with the sauna thing, just love them and that's it :-) Much rarer for me though but then it's a treat. I use a basic Garmin watch but don't think the battery life will be long enough for my proposed 12 hr track ultra in the summer, any ideas, do I buy another and record it in 2 stages? Thx for the whoop unrecommendation, did you do a separate film for that? Your gym room is awesome but living on a canal boat means ALL my training is outdoors, but I like that (mostly). Never heard of the Garmin car detector gizmo! Looks great and would have loved that in my cycling days. Look forward to your answers. Happy knees, Winston
Buy literally any coros watch and it will last your 12h.
Or if you must stick with Garmin, get a better, newer one and sell the old to make some money back.
If none of that really appeals, just ditch the GPS for that activity. You are on a track. If it's an official event, someone else will keep record of your distance for you anyway, and you can point to your watch for time and effort.
I also cannot settle on my two gadgets- Ultra Watch 2 and Fenix 7. I guess that’s not a bad position to be in. Though, I like to wear one of them as my daily watch either way.
Love it.
Mark I would like to see your wardrobe! Well choice of clothing for each sport and why I think would make a good video. Especially as someone who has suffered for fashion I.e chafing
Great video, great channel. Mark is a watch fan as well, a watch collection video would be interesting.
ha! Bit niche for my audience. I’ll wear something flash in next weeks video, just for you though 😂
I'd like to see that too!
Interesting and funny, as always 👍
I agree. My Clearlight sauna is my best purchase. What is hanging in yours?
The clips of you on that giant treadmill made me actually chuckle aloud for the first time in ages 😂
The full video is worth a watch, the treadmill owners made him "practice" falling to ensure he didn't injure himself before they let him ramp the speed up.
I think it was just so they could laugh at me 😂
When the guy says he can send Mark into the wall off the giant treadmill then Jen turns round and shouts do you want another go😂😂😂
Does anyone know what those shoes are yellow with a pink sole mentioned at 8:05 please?
always get a +1 from me because of the gpz900 in the background - I had one many many years ago...
What epix watch face are you using? Looks aweaome
Are you getting the Garmin varia camera so you can report close passes?
I´m quite heavy myself, and have max cushion running shoes because my kness started to hurt in the minimalist ones. No carbon plate or fancy tech, just lots of squishy foam to dampen the impact. Much better on my knees. Don´t have a sports or smart watch, i feel absolutely no need for it. I carry my phone and keys in a fannypack, have GPS in there for tracking pace and distance. I do wear a cheap CASIO to time rest in the gym. I´d love to have a full home gym or a sauna, unfortunately don´t have the space for them so i´m stuck with a gym membership. Maybe in 15-20 years i can convert the kids´s rooms :D
Those phone armbands have to be the most uncomfortable gadget I've ever tried. I'd rather run without a phone, risking to get lost in the woods, eaten by cannibals. With all the current tech it should be easy to produce a minimalist clip on phone that you can wear on your collar or shirt sleeve. Where is it? I want to buy one.
Knee: Cortisol as well as hylauronic acid. then use powerdot on the muscles above the knee. supershoes will help but I'm guessing they wont help on the equipment in hyrox
I’m curious, when you use a Garmin or an Apple Watch, what apps do you integrate with to view your dashboard?
I love my pink Alphaflys!!
hello Mark, have you tested any of the armband h r monitors?
Previous video - “I don’t need the fancy screen of the Epix” Current video “I’m now sold on the display”… patiently waiting to hear the report next week!
My Garmin watches and my wife’s - break every 2 years. In the long run my Tag heuer has proved to be the cheaper option.
the transition from barefoot to carbon plated super shoes is such a fun experience. You get soo much bounce but zero lateral stability.
Yep - you do need strong feet before going to superheroes.
The Garmin varia sounds like a life saver...literally!
It is. Schools should insist on children having one if they cycle to school.!
Almost every cyclist who has tried it, won't ride without it now, including me.
Great vid.. I might have to suss out the gym sauna.. and that blender!! Have you tried any carbon plated trail super shoes yet?
Where I live is hot atm and kinda sketchy 😂 so always need a phone, water, lipbalm, dog spray, safety siren, salt tabs just in case, a gel .. if I cbf with a vest coz they just make you feel hotter some runs, Ive been loving Janjis Sling Bag which is my gadget/thing of the year
Carbon plated Trail shoes will be tested in spring. 👍🏼
Looking forward to your Hyrox video. HNY.
Lol! Always Lol! Great video!
I have stopped wearing everything . It was distracting me from the very reason I took up running in the first place . Just moving through the outdoors and enjoying the process. Signed up to the windmill half marathon which will be my longest run yet . Doing it with just me , cloths 😂, decent shoes and my lungs. I’m now enjoying practically every run I go on .
Love it. Run naked is the term for ditching the tech!
@@MarkLewisfitness I will use that haha . 😇
People call me a Streaker when i run naked@@MarkLewisfitness
Hey Mark, great video as always. Quick one, the carbon shoes you said you use for Hyrox. Looked like Saucony's, which version? I've dabbled with the idea of wearing a carbon plated shoe the last few times I've done Hyrox but never taken the plunge because fear of traction or issues on the sled push, essentially. Thanks!
Endorphin pro three. I went through a bunch testing different ones and these are good. Also used by a few of the elite athletes there.
@@MarkLewisfitness Lovely, thanks a mill for the response.
I feel I'm a bit like you in terms of shoes (that's where the similarity end as I'm 5'6 and 60kg) in that I ran in zero drop but then discovered carbon plates and energy rods. I now own the Vaporfly 3's, Boston 12's and have just ordered the Adizero Pro 3 for Manchester marathon. I was skeptical of the hype but f*ck me they made a huge difference and improved both my form and times.
Any cool gadget recommendations for cold winter running?
Hey Mark . I was wondering if you could point out the zero drop shoes you use apart from the toe ones you have talked about before. I've just started on that journey myself.
Altra. 👍🏼
Hi Mark, have your previous opinions regarding the Epix 2 Pro 51mm being better than the Fenix 7X Pro changed at all having used it for months now? The AMOLED display of the Epix does look more inviting, however, are there any downfalls to the Epix that you have found compared with the Fenix 7X Pro?
Only downfall would be that the battery doesn’t last as long - but still plenty for even an ultramarathon.
@MarkLewisfitness thanks, Mark. I've been watching your videos for only a couple of days now and find them really informative and very funny! Keep up the good work 👍
What were the running shoes you started with?
Well... Now I'm going down a red light therapy research hole... lol
At least it will be well lit 😂
I'd love to have that sauna as well. But with energy prices here in Germany its hard to justify getting one just for me 😅
Use it to justify the cost of installing solar panels.
Where did you get that shirt? I looked around but didnt find it anywhere.
Hilarious as usual. How long before the “pinstripe money” runs out? 😂
About May - so try to watch my videos at least twice and let the adverts play all the way through 😂
Good video
The communication format in our household is about the same as in yours🤣 Also, the motivation for fitness and endurance, is split about the same.
What’s the longest you ever run Nixon? We have three Jack’s, but ain’t comfortable pushing them above 15k.
🥂 cheers
Oh.. what does the Watch collection consist of? Wanna do a show and tell?
Nixon has done a few flat marathons but for him thats just 3hr45 of running. Tougher is some shorter runs that he has done over VERY tough terrain in Wales - some of those runs have not gone over 20 miles but take 6-7 hours.
Watch collection is of HUGE interest to about 20 people and zero interest to the others - so a poor use of my time to make a video on. I'm hoping I get invited on a watch podcast instead so I don't have to do the work 😂
Great as always. I would be curious to see a "bang for you buck" version. A $ per use combined with usefulness type of video.
Nice list. Sauna is next for us. Is that full sauna with water or IR?
IR
Rocking the grey beard great my man! I’m doing the same these days even though the wife wants me to shave it off.
stand strong 😂
Great video, thanks for sharing. What are the Nikes and the other ‘race’ trainers please?
I have a crappy sauna tent that I use most days, still does the job. My wife thinks I'm mad though
What shoes you using for hyrox - was it the saucony endorphin pro ? Just asking as thinking of getting some myself!
Yes. Pro 3
@@MarkLewisfitness best get some then 😉
