    Why do you plan on using vintage lenses? What camera are you currently using right now?

    The first vintage lens I acquired a CZJ 135mm with M42 adaptor for Canon. I use it now and then on my 5diii and 60d.The vintage lenses on digital cameras have their own personalities😊.Thanks for sharing this review👍

    Thank you so much for the review. I have a eos canon m50 and a dslr 50d and I was looking for vintage lenses to go with both of my cameras and you did a great job clarifying what adapter I need. Great content and you got a new subscriber. Cheers....

    I have the same setup, except my 55mm lens is F1.2, which I bought way back in 1973/4 with a heap of others most of which were stolen with my prizes F1 Canon about 20 years ago. Arseholes.
    I remembered the bokeh that I got wide open and wanted to reproduce that. I had a ship load of trouble with the adapter but you have just cleared that up for me Jonathon. Thanks mate .

    Thanks for the video... my goal is to start shooting anamorphic video using the Canon c100 cinema camera.. because I'm using an EF camera and on a budget, I'll be using the SLR magic anamorphot 40, which I plan to get my hands on soon.. I definitely want to have some vintage glass in the mix, just to give a little more cinematic quality to what I shoot & I know that the Canon FD Series has a lot of great features in that regard..... but please know there's many folks out there in Internet land saying that Canon FD lenses cannot successfully work with Canon EF cameras, so your video is helpful to dispel some of those rumors

    do you know if the adaptor changes the effective focal length? i used an adaptor for Minolta MD to EF adaptor with a glass element that zoomed in the 50mm lens into about 65mm and lost about a stop of light

      You have to make sure the adapter dial is on the right mark. Depending where it’s at you’ll be able to control the aperture with the lens or the adapter.

    • @BlackWarriorLures
      @BlackWarriorLures 4 года назад +1

      @prod. KeYRan Generally, I prefer a glassed adapter. I use micro4/3. The image circle coming out of the canon FD was design for full-frame. You'll lose a lot of light. The glassed adapter refocused the image to size sensor you're using.

    just asking. a few years back. there were some adapters like this. which due to bad quality of the correcting lens, gave shit pics. is this the same or have they made a good correcting glass?

    • @JonathanKMoore
      @JonathanKMoore  3 года назад +1

      They correcting glass is much better. I haven't had any problems and the picture quality hasn't decreased at all.

    Will this work for the canon m100 I am thinking about getting one

    • @JonathanKMoore
      @JonathanKMoore  4 года назад

      I think that you might need another adapter in addition to this one. You need an adapter to fit the canon lenses to the m100 and then you would have this mount hooked up to that.

  • @Mr1972z

    I have the same camera with a 28-105 mm lens, will that work for that lens or is it necessary?

    • @JonathanKMoore
      @JonathanKMoore  4 года назад +1

      If the lens has a fd Mount than yeah you need the adapter. And any lens that has a fd mount will work work with the adapter even if it’s not a canon brand lens.

    • @JonathanKMoore
      @JonathanKMoore  2 года назад

      Yes it tends to have a softer focus on the lower aperture settings. The higher you go the sharper it gets. I usually don’t go any lower than 2.8 unless I want it to have that hazy soft look.

      @@JonathanKMoore Here's a reply from Fotodiox support:
      "The adapter has a corrective glass in the adapter in order to achieve infinity focus, but the drawback of this adapter is that it sometimes is incompatible with lenses due to the rear element of the lens hitting the corrective glass and making it impossible to mount the lens. looks like you have two lenses that are incompatible with the adapter."
