I certainly win many games I would have otherwise lost without the buffs, but that doesn't change the fact that the Kirby ditto feels like the easiest Kirby matchup in this game lol.
I really wish Kirby had the ability to spit out more projectiles as stars, with the knockback being different depending on the projectile you swallowed. It makes sense for the character and King Dedede can inhale most projectiles, so why can't Kirby do that too?
it was supposed to be in the game and was in the demo but because of some sort of bug the landing hit won't hit the shield after the aerial hit unlike bowser yoshi or mii brawler's down b
I would love to see a video done on GRIMR's new slingshot tech. I've personally found the buffs for kirby's grabs to be uniquely useful. Also forward flickshot (nair) into bair can combo people off stage now. Honestly, the best thing to come out of slingshot is the discovery of more nair reversals with kirby. One thing I have yet to master is some sort of down-tilt into slingshot combo, but im sure they exist.
Would love to hear your buff wishlist for Kirby! Also i’d be interested in a vid messing with some of the RoA workshop iterations of Kirby, could be cool!
All I wanted was a Dair buff to frame 12-14. Other dairs got faster, so is that too much to ask? It does hurt to see Kirby not get touched in 19 months, but at least he got some cool buffs.
@@strangejune I know! It's what Kirby deserves and needs. You have characters like Luigi who can combo you to death or 80% with one grab and has guaranteed kill confirms from it AND a kill throw. Kirby would fit right in. Besides, Kirby should get rewarded greatly for winning neutral.
@@djdrizzy9139 Imagine dair ride, but instead of being frame-perfect, it had six frames of leeway. It would be the easiest thing in the world. For multiple reasons, if I played Smash 64, I'd probably play Link or Luigi, not Kirby.
I love keeping Kirby as a secondary, Kirby had some good buffs but it would of been nice to get a buff within the years but i do like confirms we get now.
I would love to see your video on how you would've buffed Kirby. I'm pretty bummed that patches have completely stopped. I'm honestly underwhelmed by the changes across the board. Some characters had glaring issues that either took way too long to fix or aren't fixed to this day, and it seemed like too often the developers were buffing stuff that was already good and ignoring stuff that actually needed buffs. Plus, I wish a bit more manpower was put into making some really tangible changes to characters who had actual design flaws, instead of it all basically being relegated to making DLC characters.
I'm surprised Down Air and Hammer never got touched. Same for the fact that his final batch of notable buffs was in 8.0. Ah well, he at least got some good touches
What’s your best advice for beating Kirby’s inhale at ledge? Especially when you’re down a stock and have to make a comeback. You can’t just not approach at those times, so what do you do? I guess it’s character specific but many characters have little to barely any tools to deal with this. I’m sorry for asking a lot of questions about this complex topic; if you can’t sum it all up right now you could make a video about it. I just want to stop getting cheesed as Ganon by my friend that mains Kirby.
well if you do get sucked up off ledge do NOT mash , if you mash then kirby gets the advantage when he poops you out. Spam X and you may be able to footstool kirby or be in a position to do an up-B on him
Ganon has really big moves, forward smash being one of them and Up-Tilt being significantly more risky but absolutely destructive if Kirby ever lets go of the ledge because regrabbing the ledge will not give invincibility like it does on the first grab. Keep in mind that if someone grabs the ledge and doesn't select an option to get up, they will lose the invulnerability. If they drop off the ledge, wait for them to grab the ledge again because they will not have invincibility and you can hit them with down tilts and similar stuff. If they get hit during a ledge stall, they WILL get that invincibility back even if they stalled on ledge 3 times already so remember that your hits do refresh it as well as them touching the ground has the same effect letting them grab ledge and have invulnerability. Good luck, I main both Kirby and Ganon.
As a kirby main, I just want to have less endlag. Immediately air dodging out of rock is good and being able to shield faster out of moves would be amazing.
I know this is late but dair actually did get buffed! I think it was the first patch Ultimate got. They reduced the hitlag on Kirby's dair which made it more difficult to SDI it.
I think Nintendo did a good job with keeping the buffs simple, although if I could rework kirby in any way it would be fixing how inhale reflector works.
Found out you can 2 frame stage spike with Kirby down b on fox haven’t tried anyone else still figuring it out pls let me know if anyone else has done this
IMO Kirby went from likely the 1st-3rd Worst to the 9th Worst. But don't take that the wrong way, this is Ult, even someone this far down is still decent. Would have liked to see more good buffs his way, including more towards the Bottom 8. (Even though most of them were touched last two patches) But even then, Kirby is a pretty good Secondary/Pocket character who is worth considering.
IMO he went from high low to mid mid. He was never that bad, he just got better. I will forever regret the nair buffs in particular, the move is legitimately braindead now.
All of this is great, but they could have done SO MUCH better with a slight air speed buff. Not anywhere near jigglypuff, maybe near Marth or even matched with Meta Knight. It's not insane but it's enough to really compliment Kirby's status as an air fighter.
I don't know about bottom 5 my man, but yeah he's definitely not the greatest. Very functional recovery, good combos and strong-ish kill moves and confirms is a lot that some characters just don't have. Oh and a frame 2 jab as well as the best lingering down air in the game (Pyra/Mythra definitely has the best down air overall.)
In the manual for Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby is referred to as a "spry little boy" For Kirby's trophies in Smash Bros, they refer to him as male ("Round little Kirby lives on the peaceful Planet Popstar, in Dream Land. *He* can inhale things with his big mouth, either copying their abilities or spitting them out again. ... *He* gets launched easily but recovers well. for Smash 4) If Kirby uses Encore with Mike, he'll gain a manly voice In Kirby Super Star's tutorials, they refer to Kirby as male (Like the Spring Breeze tutorial where the tutorial says "*He's* a pretty jolly fellow") The only place where Kirby isn't a male is in Japan where he's gender-neutral These are some examples but I'm sure there's more that I overlooked.
Kirby has no gender. In Japan, Kirby is refered to with gender-agnostic words, since those exist in Japanese. When Kirby was brought to the west, they used he/him because there isn't an easy way to refer to someone where gender isn't important in English.
Do you think Nintendo did a good job with the buffs?
I certainly win many games I would have otherwise lost without the buffs, but that doesn't change the fact that the Kirby ditto feels like the easiest Kirby matchup in this game lol.
Could have been better, but it also could have been worse, so I'll take it! XD
Overall, yeah!
Did Nintendo work on the buffs?
No (at least in my mains case), from smash 4 to 5 bayo got crimpled and never got fixed, while other top tiers in 4 at still very good except 1, BAYO
As Kirby mains, we are so lucky to have a RUclipsr that makes such good Kirby content
I wish I he'd really blow up so we could get more content!
Amen.
Kirby's up throw being so weak is a crime.
Bring back smash 4 up throw 😤
@PMT truuuue. I think the higher ceilings made up throw worse
@PMT He's right.
It's just like when people kept saying Mario's Up-Smash was nerfed.
It wasn't.
Agreed, but it’s still a good killthrow.
I really only use it to confirm after 140%. But it's a great mixup for an early kill if you can surprise them off the top platform ;)
I really wish Kirby had the ability to spit out more projectiles as stars, with the knockback being different depending on the projectile you swallowed. It makes sense for the character and King Dedede can inhale most projectiles, so why can't Kirby do that too?
Kirby should auto hold all projectiles so he can immediately spit or swallow cancel them. The solution is right there!
Oh man, I remember Snake's C4 size getting nerfed and as a result it turned into an auto swallow. Fun stuff.
Wish they gave him his shield breaking hit box from smash 4
it was supposed to be in the game and was in the demo but because of some sort of bug the landing hit won't hit the shield after the aerial hit unlike bowser yoshi or mii brawler's down b
I would love to see a video of what you personally would have buffed! Great video as always!

Shaving four to six frames from dair would've made it straight up broken in combos.

Think we could use a final Kirby in depth guide now
Kirby deserves to be a top tier in the next smash since he's been stuck as a low tier every game since 64
