@@tobiasdencker853Because it gets more eyes on the tour and that's what the sponsors want. I don't think he isnt going to be able to perform, but whether he's winning or not, no way the sponsors wouldn't want him there
@@raymundmalig2506 Winning will be difficult for Jonas. It's not very often a rider is in the hospital for 12 days. Will be difficult to fully recover from that. Hope he does.

good review always enjoyed analysis back to road magazine and jelly belly days : )...ive loved cycling since childhood and tour in 89 because in states. Didnt see roche do giro-tour worlds triple but saw indurain and marco but its been 25 years I hope everyoe ejoys what they are seeing it might be once a lifetime or next year of jonas tries as well. You just never know but since l'avenir then slovenia national tt at 19 and amgen tour of california and vuelta podium tadej has never ceased to amaze me. Hes so refreshing as he wants to win hes a racer through and through he wants to win gc only by winning stages in process like a hinault, merckx, coppi. He has amazing style, class, pinache, grinnta whatever you call it. Could see a double and cavendish stage win along with likes of VDP, wout, mads fighting for stages and primoz, remco, jonas, bernal fighting for podium or yellow if tadej struggles. Matteo should have a wonderful showig hes capable of top 10 and perhaps top 5. Really amazing collection of talent. Agree with all of your observations : ) enjoy!!
excited to see how the americans fair- great talent and on some great form. Will be interesting if Jumbo lets Matteo get in any breaks, or if other teams let him. Kuss had a rough Dauphine with sickness I believe but cant count out the Eagle to be in the mix with all the climbing. McNulty and the EF boys Quinn and Powless will be fun as well!
Kuss is going to win the tour this year. I think it will go like this. Pog takes the jersey stage one and keeps it for two weeks. He will sprint for things that don't matter and burn matches he will need later. I suspect that Jumbo team is so strong they won't allow Pog to get a big gap on Kuss or Jonas. The jumbo boys crack him in week three when he finally starts to fatigue. They will pull that 1,2 punch move they pulled with Roglic and Jonas in 2022. This time, it will be Kuss and Jonas. Kuss showed us he can win a grand tour last season. Maybe Pog learned not to go out hard and try and win every stage in the off-season. Maybe Pog is so strong that he's fully recovered from the Giro. Or maybe at the giro, this lunacy was given credence it should never have had in the first place. (I'm just a fan I could easily be wrong. but if you think this is possible and enjoy placing mispriced bets, casinos have Kuss at +5,000 to win the tour.) Love your content, Phil!
Did you watch the Basque Country, Catalunya, or Dauphine? Kuss has shown next to nothing this year regarding form and has been sick. He's surely going to lose a considerable amount of time to Pogi the first couple weeks. I think he'll come into form and climb well on the Alps in the 3rd week, but that will be either in the service of Jonas or Jorg or for a breakaway stage win attempt. I am a Kuss fan btw. His form has just been brutally bad this year.
Can‘t wait to see at least 4 team strategies happening at the same time. Will we see alliances or will they all be confused because it‘s not a 1 vs. 1 GC and look at each other?
This year will be reverse of last year. This time Pogi had a good prep and Jonas had the crash. Probably he will be good in the first week and then drop off in week 2 and 3.
What about Pidcocks shot at a good GC position? He survived the absolutly gnarly Crans Montana XCO-MTB-Worldcup last weekend and is heading to the tour.
I think Jumbo will ride for Kuss as the primary plan. They’ll send him up the road to “be there for JW” on the first big mountain day and he’ll keep going. They haven’t let him race hard yet this year.
Matteo is Plan B according to the DS. Makes sense considering her almost beat Roglic at the Dauphine. Kuss has shown no form at all this year. February he looked ok and ever since then he's been really far off. I think the best he can hope for personally is a 3rd week breakaway win like in 2021. Hopefully, he comes into form in the 3rd week as usual. However, I think Jorg will be the primary Plan B GS/Super Dome for Visma.
Jonas seam to have recovered more than most people had expected physically. He seams to have a super strong mental edge normally , but I doubt it will be as sharp as required to push through the Tade mind games. No podium though??
Pog is going to walk it unopposed. Jonas’s plan will be to hang on to Pog as much as possible and try to ride himself into fitness - it won’t work though - Pogs whole season and training has gone to plan so he’ll be ready day 1
It might still be an entertaining tour if we ignore the yellow yersey, there's just no way Vingegaard is back to match a top-shape Pog, and the others have shown they weren't there by any means. The good thing in stage races is that there are so many stories to be told and subplots to be followed that might even be fun to watch day by day. Only the Eurosport social media channels will annoy the c**p out of me for a solid three weeks of Pogacar fanboying.
I can't really understand the whole Cavendish 35th stage win obsession. It seems crazy to me that the other younger sprinters are going to allow a 39 year old who's on the slide beat them to the line (even once) at the most prestigious event of the year, and imo it would be far more interesting to see the new blood create a new era, rather than we all desperately try to keep Cavendish's glory days going. However, to be fair, if he does win a genuinely contested stage, he deserves the record, on the basis of having the tenacity to keep plugging away for all those years in order to secure all those wins. But with him announcing his retirement at the Giro and then crashing out of the Tour in 2023, imo it was clearly a sign from the universe that it was time to say goodbye to top level cycling.
That will be Trapentadol to help ease those tired and ever so painfull legs, a great drug when mixed with non illegal supplements like bi-carb to buffer that lactate, plus of course those ketones, ever increasing carb per hour intake, no doubt insulin oh and those altitude camps that mask potential epo usage, all speculation of course, I wouldn't want to get sued by a Dane or a Slovenian

For being a person who had to hang out with a lot of these European professionals you butchered these names way more often than other creators wow. Why do people always point out Bastille day and never the queen stage? I am more concerned about which stage in the Queen Stage of the Tour since it is the hardest stage on the calendar. Which luckily, is that day but still should be pointed out since that is not always the case. So much going around with WVA, the crashes, team's GC contenders getting COVID. I didn't even know that MVDP was also doing the Tour, I always thought he had the same schedule as WVA with skipping TDF for Olympics. Yeah, Jasper Philipsen is going to be a menace in the sprints with him. Hopefully Cav can sneak one in early though. I think there will be tons of stage hunters and GC stage wins that will be interesting to see which will be fun to look back upon since you can't predict them. The one that stands out to me is Roglic can score a stage win between everything. I'd also watch out for Adam Yates with him being a double-edged sword due to being on the same team as Tadej and last year's podium finisher.
