Hey, Openpilot software should preserves any other vehicle safety features, but if you are using any customs forks it may not do it. Thats why I prefer to stick with stock Openpilot.
While it isn't supported by the company; Comma 2 and Open pilot has been adapted to work on manual transmission cars; in fact there are RUclips videos showing it working several such as on a modified 1988 VW Vanagon manual, so if your car can be setup to have power steering and cruise control it can possibly work given some skills to manage the interface. Open Pilot will not change gears for you but but once you are in a gear you will be cruising with you can engage it and it will function fine. Since long drives on the freeway are the primary use; this isn't a big deal.
I'm so eager to get it. Particularly for the freeway. I love radar cruise control. I just need my car to steer for me. I'm content with sitting back and watching for road hazards/idiot drivers.
It’s amazing man. I got one about a year ago when I got my 2020 Corolla and it has literally driven 20,000 out of the 22,000 miles on my car. I go on road trips a lot and I can sit back for over 100 miles without touching anything.
Excellent video. I would have just extended the final part to explain OTA updates and how machine learning is benefiting from data supplied by all users. Also you should have a note about privacy and whether the data and video is available in the case of an accident. (I don’t have it. I wish I did.)
I realize this is an older video but I did have a question. It seems to me that the operation of the Comma product is largely dependent on a car manufacturer's cooperation. What are the chances of the system being rendered obsolete? Aren't manufacturers concerned with liability? How does this keep going? I'm thinking about getting an Accord; but really only want the car if it remains compatible with a Comma device. It's tough to plunk down 30 grand on a car without some assurances. Thanks.
Hey, I'm user myself and as far as I know they are not working together with car manufacturers. Today Openpilot supports over +200 different makes and models. Openpilot is level 2 self-driving system what means driver is 100% responsible for any action of the car. But I understand you concern and its hard to do any predictions. Maybe Comma.ai Discord community would be good place to discuss these topics and questions. I am planning to get Toyota Camry Hybrid. Openpilot performs better with Toyota than Honda. For more information: github.com/commaai/openpilot/blob/master/docs/CARS.md
Hey, What features You mean? Simplified it injects the stock Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with steroids. Openpilot upgrades Your stock systems to next level. Car can drive basically hands free but drivers attention is still needed. In future development wise may see car stops itself for traffic lights* etc. (*If Openpilot is controlling gas and brake) check my video: Openpilot 10k miles review: ruclips.net/video/pd3okGOkqi4/видео.html
Hey mate, from comma two You can slide Openpilot off and car will go stock but this change takes effect when the car is powered off. So You need to restart Your car, vice versa. (I don't recommend it but You can switch off Comma two while driving but I don't know how it effects software and comma two.)
3:45 This is not legal driving in most states. The guy has earbuds in. Having any kind of buds/headphones can distract you from hearing other sounds, as a driver. (Not sure if you were just ignorant of this when picking video clips, or maybe I have found some kind of easter egg you intended to be funny? 😁)
Which car is best for stop n go traffic ? And why ? Which car does not disable ACC at all ? Why not the developers of comma use the car stock front facing camera to use instead of the camera on comma ?
If all of your questions are about OpenPilot, the best cars for OpenPilot is Toyotas. Not all, but you can refer to their website. Just pick any car from the list with ACC by OpenPilot with ALC and ACC from 0 mph. Why comma.ai dont use the stock camera? Because they want to have a standard sensor (camera) across all the cars that they supports. That way, they have better access to the camera (on the comma two)
Hi thanks for the informative video. Could it work with Mitsubishi Outlander 2023 SEL at Canada model. it doesnt have LKA but LDA is present along with adaptive cruise !
Great video. Do you know if the Comma Two can be used "offline" without the MVNO connected? For example, install the Comma 2 and OpenPilot via Wifi and not have the MVNO sending data ever?

@@FayazKadir if you were able to get ahold of George about annotations, he'd probably rip you a new one. 😆 Annotations are a stupid idea with self driving cars. The single best explanation I have seen for open pilot yet. Excellent video.
