      The Nakamichi is the most interesting one for me right now, but I am very curious about Philips Fidelio B97 that is supposed to release next month, it seems to want to compete at the very high-end.

    • @DrgnRebrn
      @DrgnRebrn 3 года назад +3

      Personally, the Sennheiser Ambeo is far out of my budget, and is more of an enticing option that true audiophiles would be interested in as a potential replacement for an existing receiver-based system utilizing physical speakers at each respective channel preference/capability (9.2.4 vs 5.1.4 vs blah.blah.blah, etc.) who want to downsize or simplify their system by taking advantage of technological advances that enable an out-of-the-box solution that can satisfy them, or for an inexperienced (read: entry/beginner audiophile) enthusiast looking for an audiophile-in-a-box-for-dummies type solution (no knock on the "for-dummies" piece - I most-definitely consider myself to be in that category only without the monetary means to justify it). I'm not sure where your sweet-spot is for your Subscribers, but it's not necessarily a review that I would be looking at in terms of helping me make a purchasing decision. Though, I have to say I would very much like to see your personal take on this, and any of the others you've listed simply because I really like your review style.
      I'm more interested in a budget cap of around $1500 US, and getting the best audio-enthusiast-tempting performance out of that budget, while ensuring an audio-for-dummies out of the box solution that doesn't require calibration, constant tweaking, etc. to get it up to that level. Stability is a major factor for me as well as ease of use, which is primarily why I'm not going for the Samsung options (based on your reviews - thank you!), and why I've also determined the JBL Bar 9.1 is not what I'm looking for. I would love to see you review the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 system though, as this soundbar setup falls right in with my personal budget and, on paper, seems to be a competitive option to my current top choice - the LG SN11RG.

Dialog in atmos is great but not so much from dts sources. Connections to rears have been pretty good. Atmos height channels come through sometimes. 5.1 surround is great. Hooked up via eArc on tv. Almost everything about this soundbar appeals to me. I actually don't want rear speakers hanging around the house so the idea of taking them off, sticking them at the ends of my couch, watching a movie, and then sticking it back for a fuller sound on regular TV sounds perfect.
    The only huge qualm I have is the lack of settings. If I can't make out the voices in something, the fact that I can't even do something as simple as turn up the center channel is really unappealing.

    Just picked up and installed the JBL Bar 9.1. Have AppleTV plugged directly into the bar and was horrified at the quality of the dialogue, like you said. Turned off ‘Smart Mode’ and it fixed it. In fact, it improved the sound dramatically. Not looking forward to turning it off every time I turn on the bar...

    • @neverenoughtech

      I didn’t have the same experience turning off smart mode - maybe I forgot to try that. Did you by chance have any luck getting Dolby verifications on the display? I’d like to create an update/correction if users are having success in this realm ... I don’t have the bar anymore.

    Tanks a lot, I tried different types of soundbar, jbl 2.1, q70t, lg dsn9yg. Bass and pure sound are important to me and unfortunately, I could not find a soundbar that combines all the qualities. For example, LG has a great sound, pure and strong, but the bass is weak and jbl2.1 the voice is not clear, but the bass is great. Now I'm confused between JBL9.1, Q90R and Q900T. I need advice because I lost a lot of money and couldn't find my choice

    Disappointing that they are missing some woofers the higher ends are carrying. That being said, I hope you review the Vizio Elevate. It's like the jbl 9.1 in size and ideals, but fills in the gaps, literally and figuratively. The soundbar is only 32 inches, but has 2 woofers and a tweeter per channel, however it rotates the Atmos speakers down for any non Atmos content for a wider soundstage, which gives it 4 extra drivers over everybody else and turns it into a 48" soundbar. Now that's ingenuity! The Elevate will be, or close to soundbar of the year.
    Great review again btw. It's getting boring how good your reviews are (another great review...) Jk, keep it up señor, you'll be at 10k subs in no time.

All those problems arise after a while. Mine worked for 3 months perfectly & then out of the blue, the right satellite speaker wouldn't work anymore. It coulnd't (& still can't) find the soundbar for example.

      The bar has its problems, don’t get me wrong. Wish it had an app so I can activate and deactivate smart mode and always could check what the source sound codec is. I have never had charging problems, just think those gta cheat code for your remote are simple cost reducing methods for not giving it a better remote. Still all this is solvable by just bringing out an app with equalizer and remote remote options. I never use my remote, always use the hdmi-cec option to change volume, that’s why app would be a game changer, also I have had the q950t and the lg , sound was a little bit better, but overal practical usage and price , this I think is a far better deal, that display on top of the q950t was hella annoying, it would even be less annoying if I could check what the source audio was on the app, doesn’t make any sense, big company like that, who comes up with that design choice. Ok shitload of my thoughts over, my apologies.

    Oh man, quite disappointed on the apple tv compatibility. I was primarily planning to buy this bar for plugging the apple tv directly into this as my TV doesn't support arc. Have you used apple tv 4k? and plugging it directly to the soundbar won't give me Atmos? Please respond!

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  3 года назад +1

      I did not get Atmos by plugging into the bar - only PCM (no Atmos badge on Netflix, no Atmos confirmation in the bars display) - you can hear the difference towards the end of my sound check section. It’s disappointing.

      @@neverenoughtech But I heard that the sound settings in tv or apple tv need to be changed to pass through or Atmos enabled or something to get the Atmos from the soundbar. Sorry I'm not that tech savvy. Can you please confirm if you did check the apple tv sound settings to enable this?

      I wish I could. I don’t have the bar anymore. It’s possible that something funny was happening with my LG OLeD because the Shield and Apple TV stripped Atmos when directly connected to the bar - was not only an Apple TV problem. The shield when connected through the TV outputted Atmos but not the Apple TV. My settings are always Atmos enabled. It looks like the dude in the video went through The TV not through the bar and had a different TV. It probably is possible to get Atmos but it might depend on the TV in his case. Wish I could be more definitive ... sorry

So I tried to using fire stick but when I connected to soundbar I didn’t get the atmos option to select in Prime as well as Netflix. When i play same things from My tv it’s showing dolby atmos logo but i get dd+ while in Netflix i got Atmos DD+. Pls help me how i can get experience of Dolby Atmos. Shall I returned fire stick?

    Do you know anything about a sound drop
    I just bought it
    Im using it with a pc
    Its working fine
    I mean the atmos and everything but i had some sound cuts
    I was playing and when i went to the menu and back the sound was lagging then just gone
    And then i changed the cable still the same
    Then i tried out to play atmos sound and then something on youtube
    And its maybe when its changing a sound im not sure
    But in that time something is wrong cause it has a cut out
    And sometimes its not just one cut out
    Its more and doesnt stop and then the sound goes away
    So i dont know what is the problem
    But i think this could be a firmware problem cause everything is fine
    And when i play something through airplay it works fine only through hdmi

    My dear friend....I have been playing with my BAR 9.1 for some hours now and I noticed that the frontal tweeters on the surround speakers wont emit any sound at all....only the left and right channel on the bar itself are doing the stereo part...are the surrounds suposed to do something to the stereo stage while they are docked? I can clearly notice midbass sound coming from the top atmos speakers on the surrounds all the time (docked AND undocked) but not form their frontal speakers....

    Customer support will screw you over
    I bought the JBL 9.1 and shortly after I bought it, it started skipping and cutting out while in use every few minutes. It tends to do it more when watching higher quality movies with Dolby ATMOS or Dolby digital. So I call up their customer service which in turned had me on a wild goose chase of troubleshooting and replacement soundbars, yep multiple bars. Back and forth sending the defective one back and getting replacements to no avail. Then after the date I can return it and get a refund they tell me that its probably not compatible with my brand new TV. So now that its not "their" fault they can't help me. They lead me on this pointless troubleshooting journey then after its too late to return it they pretty much politely say go --yourself, And hope your TV may one day be compatible. So now I'm out my money and still need to buy a new sound system.
