Even though I have already spent on setting up my sound system , watching all your videos is a habit that is here to stay from my days researching for the perfect sound system
Actually a bit relieved from your review. Ended up getting the q990b on sale but always had the 1300x in the back of my mind. Q990b doesn't have my favorite sound signature for music but the atmos experience for movies is unreal. Perfectly happy with this balance for nearly half the cost of the 1300x. Cheers bud
yeah 1300x is so bad. atmos firing speakers dont even work - just mindless sounds above with no precision or height feeling. the system sounds like a crappy 3.1 system and the subwoofer is so bad - no rumble, just a muted tone the whole time. worst soundbar ever. samsung is the only bar to produce greatest atmos effects ever. nothing will ever compare to samsung.
Hi, when I listen to music on the JBL1300 through bluetooth with the detachable speakers plugged into the main bar, the main bar doesn’t make any sound, only the detachable speakers do. And once I detach them, then the main bar starts playing. I wonder why the whole bar can’t play music to enjoy the full power of the set without detaching the rear speakers. Do you know how to fix this ? Thanks
Can the detachable speakers be left continuously connected to USB? Will it bypass the battery as I have seen that it is difficult to replace the battery.
Today arrived my new Jbl Bar 1300, and i have a problem with it. When i play music or ytb videos from my phone, the sound only comes from the rear detachable speakers, and not from the main unit ( the detachables are conected to the main unit). When I dettach one of the rear speakers from the main unit, the sound immediately starts playing on the main unit. When i reattach the speaker back (both are connected now) the main unit mutes and the sound comes only from the Left and Right detachable speakers. Please help me!!!
I was looking forward to your comprehensive review. I watched your review of the jbl bar 9.1 a couple of years ago before purchasing it. I was thinking of purchasing the 1300 to replace the 9.1 however i guess ill just go for the q990b as its got a better sound stage and a better bang for the buck.
Picked up one of these just this week and love it. Came from a 2.1 Yamaha bar. Years ago i had a proper install of a Yamaha 5.1 system and i am surprised just how awesome sound bars have become. Im going to hang onto this for as long as i can - very impressed and kove the fsct they csn reattach to the main unit. Given the small space i live in, that was the main reason i chose JBL over the Samsung
I got the bar 1000 on Black Friday special for 799. Love it but it goes into standby every 10 mins. Using e-arc and updated firmware and correct tv settings and still goes in Standby.. thought it was defective 5 calls to JBL support i returned for a new unit at Best Buy.. still doing same thing. JBL says I cannot disable standby mode.. but not sure why every 10 mins it does it, yet I’m watching movie with active scenes.. does your 1300 go in standby or what I doing wrong. It also won’t allow the CEC from TV.
I'm also having an issue where my jbl 1000 loses connection to what I have it connected to while watching.. tried replacing HDMI cable still no success. Going to return it.
I need advice. I currently have an LG atmos soundbar that’s decent but the sub sucks and no surrounds. I have open concept house and high, sloped ceiling. in family room. I know that’s not conducive for a soundbar but I gave up some performance for ease of setup/ less wires. But I want more base! I have good JBL base in the basement (not being used) that had the boom I needed before I switched to the soundbar. Should I dump atmos due the ceiling and find a bar with surrounds that has a sub out port?
I think this system has a much beefed sub than whatever LG system you might have. I have not seen a SB system with a sub out port from surrounds - Klipsch 1200 has a sub out from their sub - that’s a big boy to start with
@@neverenoughtech thanks. I mis-phrased my question. With the high ceiling, should I put less emphasis on up firing speakers and look for soundbars with surround speakers and that have either a good sub or a wired sub port? Really love about overall review of JBL bar but I am bit confused between the JBL Bar 1300 and the Samsung Q990D, Maybe the demo person wanted to sell the Samsung more. Can you please suggest which one is better for Music and Movies?
D I’d say as it’s a better bar (far more substantial) and more reliable surrounds - 1300 has a punchier sub which may be the most important thing but I don’t think it is
you can use a 2.1 cable, but the 1300x isn't going to utilize the true nature of the cable, which is providing 120 hz content feed for people who game on a computer. Everyone else that use consoles, watch movies, or play music - you don't need a 2.1 connection, 2.0 is just fine
I think it makes a lot of sense as the soundbar inputs allow you to get lossless sound directly onto the bar … now it doesn’t make sense to go out of your way for a bar that outputs 4k 120 as the tv doesn’t support that frame rate.
It makes sense. Many streaming services are still using compressed atmos through Dolby Digital + codec. So an older TV that still has only ARC and Dolby Digital+ pasthrough it's enough to enjoy the full experience of the streams...Netflix, Prime a.s.o.
From what I can tell the 1170 watt power rating advertised is given as max power not rms. That sort of coincides with the fact the q990b gets a lot louder than the jbl. It's still a powerful soundbar but I think people need to understand that just because it has a 10 inch woofer (12 inch US) and 1170 watt slapped on the box, doesn't mean this is the system to blow your house down.
Been following you for a long time. Thank you so much for this. Current owner of a JBL 9.1 (basement) and Q950T for my main setup in my living room. I pulled the trigger on this to replace the Q950T because I've always absolutely hated the ridiculous display on the top, the awful connectivity via the lame settings in the Smart Things app and random sub or rears turning off at different times where I've found myself checking for blue lights as a natural routine now, which is really sad. Really looking forward to this. Arrives on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 (have detailed dates for historical purposes). Now to figure out how to sell my Q950T because, man, the resale market for soundbars is just woeful.
@@MyBryant123 if you have a small to medium room 9.1 is a good option. A bigger room will fit the 1300x better. However that’s not to say the 1300x cant sound good in a smaller room, either. hello can you help me how did i get jbl bar 1300 the box has double schoch white tape side under white...may it have been used before? or did jbl make the boxes like this?
I currently have the Bar 9.1 and I still love. I was looking to upgrade this year or so and was looking at either this or the 990C. I have to have DTS-X so the Arc is out of the question. That being said I'm kinda disappointed by the new JBL offerings. I wish the soundstage was wider! I wish JBL would make another model without those battery detachable speakers as I ended up just leaving mine out and connected to power through a voice activated smart plug. By doing this would give JBL an option to make the rears bigger while also making the soundbar longer. I believe this is what the 1300X should've been. It would've been an instant buy for me but instead I will wait for BF to get 990C on sale. I might still consider the 1300X if the price is right too.
Been waiting for this one :D How does the bar perform with the rears attached to the bar? Does it somewhat extend the front sound stage and still deliver some height effects when not used as rears?
curious about this as well! I like the option of leaving them attached for general TV watching, video games and just detaching them when I want to watch a movie
Daniel, how do you listen dolby tru hd via hdmi earc on soundbars/av receivers when none of the android /google tv's allows to passthru it in original way, the same situation is with the lpcm 7.1, and the Samsung and LG tv's do not support dts/dts hd.
what I was looking for in a review was even how does it perform when the rear are in the bar... how does it perform compared with bar alone system like sony A5/7000, bose or Arc without the rear speakers? Because the price is high but not as high as these other systems in the complete form with the option of having the full surround when needed in movie night
Awesome review, mate. Thanks! It's on sale in New Zealand for $1200 right now (We have the 1300 non-x version), whereas the Q990C is $1765. I'll give a listen in the store this weekend, not sure if I'll regret not paying an extra $500 for the Samsung over the lifespan of the JBL soundbar. Thoughts?
I like the C over the X (bar is far more substantial) … that is a high price for the C … with others claiming they are getting for free with the purchase of a tv. I would wait a bit and look for a better deal on the C
i am wondering what holds the BOSE 900 back ? is it the surrounds ? or the 700bass Module ? I think the bar itself is a great sounding bar...have had the Samsung Q950a and the Sonos Arc / 2 subs / SL ones and ended up selling both...just wasn't feeling it....where do i go next as in soundbars ? Bose ? JBL ? Sennheisser ? Klipsch ? i am not a bass head but enjoy clear dialogue and crisp sound...looking forward to opinions......MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.....cheers from Vulcan Canada
It's odd that end caps come with this soundbar for when you are using the rear surrounds detached from the soundbar. The end caps would cover the tweeters.
Which one do you think offers better sound quality for movie? : JBL bar 1300 system vs Sonos system (arc bar + sub + era 100/300) . I know for sure the Sonos system will offer much better music quality, but unsure about movie. Please help me pick the right one, as I'll be using it more for movie, but consider the huge price difference, not sure if it's really worth it for movie.
Hi sir. Good morning. How are you sir. I have a good sound bar JBL 9.1. I have a doubt in wireless surround sound. Attached or Detached. What is perfect...
One more question sir. The wireless surround sound. Can I put the cable USB in wireless surround sound all day and night in charging at the same place I fixed my wireless surround sound.
Q990B in Europe is consistently around 900€ which make impossible to beat, unless you really need rear speaker without plugs. A curiosity about this JBL, when the rear are attached to the bar, do you lose the wide tweeters? Because I do not see them in the detachable speakers.
I would go with the q990b, however in my case I'm limited to roughly 120cm widht of the bar, q990b is 123cm and JBL Bar 1300 is 100cm without the side speakers. I found a refurbished 1300 bar from JBL at 920 EUR. Hopefully it'll satisfy my needs. Thanks for the review!
Interested in this one, just cuz the 12" subwoofer.. Had the 9.1 before and looking for an replacement.. But I feel the 990B/C have much worse bass. When I had the Bar 9.1 the sub was barely enough for my music experience and then go to a 8" ~200W seems like a big no.. Soooooo split in how to proceed :(
Hi, will you be reviewing the jbl bar 1000? I am before buying and I do not know whether to take jbl bar 1000, samsung hw q990b or pay extra for jbl bar 1300. I would be grateful for help
I would go q990B as I would take that over the X. I can’t readily order the 1000 in the US and it’s probably too similar to justify reviewing … I suspect the sound is very close to what I reviewed with the X
I've listened to both, they sound similar. You get more power in the bass with a 1300x and slightly better audio overall. But, if you didn't have them side by side, and you only had the 1000 - you'd be happy
Finally! Thanks a lot! Am I understood correctly - we cannot put surrounds speakers at wall and connect them to power simultaneously? It looks like no room to plug USB-C in on wall position.
Can you also review some mid range soundbars, 400-800 USD. I.e. Q800R With your knowledge it would give a great insight to what the difference what top tier systems is.
Dear NeverEnoughTech I don't know if you read every one of our thoughts or questions. But I am dying to ask you one. When I see the manual, it says the Subwoofer is 300W(max THD 1%). So the subwoofer is 300 W or just the peak power is 300W. Experts say they are two very different thing. Peask (Max) and Rated output. I hope you can answer. I even cannot have the answer from JBL or SAMSUNG so far since I am in the middle of deciding what to buy. This or SAMSUNG 990B. Since Samsung 990B has 200W subwoofer. So shall I have to also count that Samsung has less power than JBL in terms of Subwoofer? Thanks always.
You can use the heart button to set a favourite for example your favourite streaming radio station which I use as is our local radio station as an example, thanks for the review and yes mate this is an awesome bit of kit well worth the investment Cheers from Oz
Because I’m not comparing it to perfection but the rest of the SB systems - I haven’t experienced or perceived the sub to be in an issue in the way you are describing - could be listening space

@@2025.yamaha.R1 i tried 950t and the sub sucked compared to their older bars (n950 and q80r). The subwoofer’s shit performance has followed the 950a and the 990b. Many complaints about it in forums and reviews on retail sites. Samsung used to be king of bars, but many companies have already caught up. Samsung still stays relevant, but there are other options with the same if not better performance now.
I just bought it, but the rear speakers are not engaging or very small sound from them mostly when watching movie without atmos,it's annoying even i don't feel surround effects, the sound is thin and in front not like bar 9.1 i ungraded from i used to feel immersed in centre of action. Its disappointing they need to update.
I'm so confused. I want to hear good quality sound. I listen to music a lot. I watch relatively less movies. I watch more RUclips. One of the reasons I want the jbl bar 1300 is that it can be used externally as a Bluetooth speaker. I'm so confused so should I buy Klipsch the nines or JBL bar 1300?
I want to review the nines. You are the only person to talk about them. I think if you want quality music you should lean towards the nines and sub. Want an immersive experience for cinema the 1300x. If the the BT detachable speaker scenario really appeals to you we’ll go with the 1300x or buy separately
@@neverenoughtech thank you very much. How is the music listening performance in general? And if you use the rear speakers as stereo, is the sound quality good enough to affect the purchase decision? independently, is the sound quality as good as marshall or Klipsch the one?
Great channel. The dry humour is a great foil for what is a reasonably um, dry topic.. Here is Oz the Bar 1000 and 9.1 are available but the 1300/x is not at present even from JBL. The 1000 is AU$1500 so can only imagine the 1300 would be $2k and then some. Seen it advertised from Overseas sellers for over $3k. 990B can be had for circa $1300 so no brainer which one to choose. Curious - What happens with Atmos if you have only one side wall e.g in an open plan dining/lounge. does the sound stage end up lopsided or can the calibration adjust for it? Thanks.
It will degrade the technical precision but … I always think a soundbar sounds more cinematic and immersive when the space is bigger. Sound calibrations help with uneven walls.
Great work. One of the best reviewers on RUclips. Good luck on reaching 20,000.

Daniel, how do you listen dolby tru hd via hdmi earc on soundbars/av receivers when none of the android /google tv's allows to passthru it in original way, the same situation is with the lpcm 7.1, and the Samsung and LG tv's do not support dts/dts hd.
TVs do add annoying complications in this regard. I typically suggest plugging direct into soundbars if pristine audio is the primary aim.
what I was looking for in a review was even how does it perform when the rear are in the bar... how does it perform compared with bar alone system like sony A5/7000, bose or Arc without the rear speakers? Because the price is high but not as high as these other systems in the complete form with the option of having the full surround when needed in movie night
there are always follow-ups 😀
Awesome review, mate. Thanks! It's on sale in New Zealand for $1200 right now (We have the 1300 non-x version), whereas the Q990C is $1765. I'll give a listen in the store this weekend, not sure if I'll regret not paying an extra $500 for the Samsung over the lifespan of the JBL soundbar. Thoughts?
I like the C over the X (bar is far more substantial) … that is a high price for the C … with others claiming they are getting for free with the purchase of a tv. I would wait a bit and look for a better deal on the C
3:26 Sub-Zero Wins! Flawless Video!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! It's here!
I have the JBL 1000. Is it worth upgrading to the 1300 for $100 more?
Yes
i am wondering what holds the BOSE 900 back ? is it the surrounds ? or the 700bass Module ? I think the bar itself is a great sounding bar...have had the Samsung Q950a and the Sonos Arc / 2 subs / SL ones and ended up selling both...just wasn't feeling it....where do i go next as in soundbars ? Bose ? JBL ? Sennheisser ? Klipsch ? i am not a bass head but enjoy clear dialogue and crisp sound...looking forward to opinions......MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.....cheers from Vulcan Canada
40% rears - 55% bar size - 5% sub offering
i have jbl 9.1 , should i upgrade now or should i wait 2 more years?
Wait
If youre upgrading to the 1300x then i say upgrade. It is a big step up
Sell the 9.1, buy the 5.1.
@@TheGirlSkateBoardCo why would i do that? :)
Jbl 1300x or sony a7000 with rs5 rears and sw5 sub?
Jbl
@@garretts431what makes you say that ?
Ciao quindi mi confermi che la soundbar bose 900 kit completo sub e Surround è la migliore ?
It's odd that end caps come with this soundbar for when you are using the rear surrounds detached from the soundbar. The end caps would cover the tweeters.
The end caps are grills … so sound passes through.
JBL if Sonos is paired with 100s otherwise Sonos

Hi sir.
Good morning.
How are you sir.
I have a good sound bar JBL 9.1.
I have a doubt in wireless surround sound.
Attached or Detached.
What is perfect...
Detach, sound better than you think and it adds critical dimensions to the sound
@@neverenoughtech
Thanks you sir..
One more question sir.
The wireless surround sound.
Can I put the cable USB in wireless surround sound all day and night in charging at the same place I fixed my wireless surround sound.
Good morning sir.
Please reply me.
I have already sent you message.
hello, what is the difference between q990B and q990c?
Some black box AI
Which is price worth it jbl bar 1300 or jbl bar 1000
How it's compares to the bose 900 with sub? Trying to decide between this two.
I’d probably prefer Bose music delivery but for HT purposes, the 1300x is far more immersive
@@neverenoughtech
Thanks for quick reply.
What was the key point that pushes you to give the q990b the crown? Sound stage comparison?
Sound stage and depth
@@neverenoughtech thanks
Q990B in Europe is consistently around 900€ which make impossible to beat, unless you really need rear speaker without plugs. A curiosity about this JBL, when the rear are attached to the bar, do you lose the wide tweeters? Because I do not see them in the detachable speakers.
Yes
Worth the upgrade from the bar 1000?
Does the q990b subwoofer still deliver compared to the 12" jbl ?
It’s not at the jbl level but I think the b woofer is generally underrated. It does it’s job quite well within the context of the system
HI …. when will it be available on the Italian market?
Can i get comparison between jbl 1300 vs samsung 990c
It’s a good idea … I’ll consider
@@neverenoughtech please do a video of the comparison
why i bought jbl bar 1300 i haven't received any updates since the day of purchase 😒😒😒
Jbl bar 1000 or 990b? If the price difference is about 300usd in my a country ? Cheers 🙏
990b no question
Samsung q990c or jbl 1300x i want something loud with powerfull bass , for music , games + music
either one is great, but i have the 1300x
I would go with the q990b, however in my case I'm limited to roughly 120cm widht of the bar, q990b is 123cm and JBL Bar 1300 is 100cm without the side speakers. I found a refurbished 1300 bar from JBL at 920 EUR. Hopefully it'll satisfy my needs. Thanks for the review!
how do you like it?
@@neverenoughtech Thank you very much :)
@@neverenoughtechthe Bar 800 is so bad! Hope the 1000 is better and close to the 1300
If you own a 9.1 already, is it worth the upgrade?
Yes
It is really worth all the hassle of selling and getting the 1300?
Doing exactly this now
@@TheGirlSkateBoardCo yes
Hi
jbl 1300 or 1300x which is Best for Good Bass
Only tested the X and it sounded quite nice
thanks for your reply 🙏
Have you tested the bass in youtube music how is it??
Actually I used 1300 the bass is good in dolby atmos in youtube the bass is not good
@@DeepakKumar-kl4it depends on the quality of the youtube video
Are you going to review the 1000?
I've listened to both, they sound similar. You get more power in the bass with a 1300x and slightly better audio overall. But, if you didn't have them side by side, and you only had the 1000 - you'd be happy
Finally! Thanks a lot! Am I understood correctly - we cannot put surrounds speakers at wall and connect them to power simultaneously? It looks like no room to plug USB-C in on wall position.
Im not a JBL fan, but great and in depth video :)
I really enjoy your sense of humor haha :D
Thanks!
Works for me, thanks!
Can you also review some mid range soundbars,
400-800 USD. I.e. Q800R
With your knowledge it would give a great insight to what the difference what top tier systems is.
When I run out of flagships I tend to dig deeper. Good to know there is interest
Dear NeverEnoughTech
I don't know if you read every one of our thoughts or questions.
So there’s no dialogue enhancement option?
www.jbl.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCatalog_Harman/default/dw22759c6b/pdfs/JBL_HA_Bar%201300X_OM_US&BR_V7_EN.pdf
I don’t think you will find any dialogue enhancement other than purevoice you can turn it off. Instructions on page 24 of the manual
You can use the heart button to set a favourite for example your favourite streaming radio station which I use as is our local radio station as an example, thanks for the review and yes mate this is an awesome bit of kit well worth the investment
Cheers from Oz
Why do you like the 990b so much the base is not consistent on it and underwhelming sometimes
Because I’m not comparing it to perfection but the rest of the SB systems - I haven’t experienced or perceived the sub to be in an issue in the way you are describing - could be listening space
@@neverenoughtech which sound bar has the most base I’m leaning towards getting the nakamachi 1300 watt dual 10” sub one or this jbl you reviewed but I can get the nakamachi 1300 watt one refurbished for 1300 dollars which seems like a deal or might save up for there dragon once it comes out
@@2025.yamaha.R1 i tried 950t and the sub sucked compared to their older bars (n950 and q80r). The subwoofer’s shit performance has followed the 950a and the 990b. Many complaints about it in forums and reviews on retail sites. Samsung used to be king of bars, but many companies have already caught up. Samsung still stays relevant, but there are other options with the same if not better performance now.
Does it have more bass than Klipsch 1200?
It has tighter bass - I would not say more
Really nice job with this video review! Do you try also yamaha true x 50a? Which one do you suggest for movie?
1300X - I like the Yamaha but it’s not at the same level as this
This or the q930c?
I just bought it, but the rear speakers are not engaging or very small sound from them mostly when watching movie without atmos,it's annoying even i don't feel surround effects, the sound is thin and in front not like bar 9.1 i ungraded from i used to feel immersed in centre of action. Its disappointing they need to update.
❤thanks bro....for this review 👍🫰
Do u connect both arc and optical ?
Nope just ARC
is the detachable speakers back surround or normal surrounds?
Rear surrounds
Does this pass on HDR10+? Its not listed but does it work in practise?

🍻 great video
Thanks!
@@neverenoughtech Thanks for the response. Figured it wouldn't be a show-stopper but good to get an expert opinion. Cheers.
