Maybe the zodiac would have affected Bill by making him glow and tearing him apart, sending those pieces of him back into the rift along his henchmaniacs but Bill would have fought tooth and nail to try in a pitiful attempt to break the zodiac and as he's getting pulled back he swears revenge on the Pines saying "this isn't the last you'll hear from me!"
Real talk, it's awesome that of all people, it's Pacifica's dad who encourages her to "touch the hillbilly", something he'd likely consider bellow them. But in this moment, he realizes there's far more important things than maintaining an image, like saving the world.

We all would say that whereas Stanley was very much sympathetic with his brutal history, here he put himself in the ringer. He may be an anti hero, but he still had to keep his family safe. So to screw up the ritual and not allow everyone else a chance to save the world, he did blow it. He may not care about his brother anymore, but there are other people he does. What shocks me though is that Bill did not torture him with a facsimile of their father showing his lowest point of disappointment to him, that could’ve easily set him straight. I’m just glad the 2 brothers were able to make up in the end.
