My coaches were never at my practices but I ended up trying to teach myself with some help from RUclips and my color guard coach and I am now going to be the featured twirler for my school I've only done baton for 1 or 2 years my guard coach says I am advanced for my experience
Thats really cool!! I just started baton. But the thing is they don't give points for using batons at a competition so it's the same as a prop here. We're moving on to scholastic A so we're gonna compete in WGI. So lets hope they give points for that there. I'm talking about my color guard team as well :)
Annetta; I think you are the most FABULOUSLY TALENTED Twirling I have EVER SEEN!! I have a few questions. I know it is NOW 2020, so I hope you get this message. I am 52 years old, and used to be a Competitive Twirler back in the 80's and 90's. I was JUST getting into Intermediate and was very very Athletic. A family member had told me this "You CAN'T go back!! You are too old NOW to practice to try to COMPETE again!!" Okay, THAT just pushed me to pick up my Batons and Start ALL over again, I won't back down. I have very bad Fibromyalgia, and I have been Practicing in my LIving Room. I have Bruised myself up pretty badly, and when my Mom saw my Arms the other day she was MORTIFIED!! LOL!! I don't CARE I told her!! I want to take a Year or probably TWO years to get back into my OLD self and then I want to do a Competition Somewhere, No matter WHAT Category I have to accept. Beginning would be FINE with me. I don't have access to a Higher Ceiling or Gym, and where I live I cannot be SEEN spinning as I have had a Head Injury as well and tend to get Dizzier than I used to. I would also LOSE my Apt if anyone saw me Twirling Outside due to Housing Rules (People who live here around me are OLDER and I am the Youngest person living here.) To LIVE here (this is a HUD, Section 8 Apt complex,) so everyone who lives here has to use some form of Walking Assistance, I have a Four Point Cane, but I only need it when I am shopping, if I have to walk LONG distances. I am JUST now getting my One Spinners back to where they used to be, still need a lot of work yet. I want to know How to Wrap my Baton again, Electric tape doesn't seem to have enough Grip for me. What are you using to tape yours?? It looks like you have Rubber Bands on your Baton?? I am also in the process of Designing my own Batons, but that is hard and I am researching to see how to go about designing the most BEAUTIFUL BATON Ever!! I have SO MANY dreams yet to Fulfill Before I am too Old to compete again. Baton Twirling has always been My Heart and is part of my Very SOUL!! I can't get it out of my head. It is a Desire and a NEED to Compete again!! ANY suggestions from ANYONE on here would be Helpful!! I want to know if there is an AGE range to be able to compete. And IF there IS, I want to DEFY those Age Restrictions!! I don't have a Coach, so I just watch your Videos. I have A LONG way to go!! I am SICK and in PAIN Every Day but that does NOT stop me from Practicing every single Day. I am Very Determined, VERY hard on myself, and I Won't Stop unless I have a MAJOR Injury that stops me. Thank you for reading this LONG Message. KEEP SMILING!! Sincerely, Stefanie :)
I love watching these videos. I loved twirling when I was little, but as I got older I became shy and self conscious. Don't know why. But I loved twirling and always wished I continued with it.
This helped me so much, thank you❤ Edit: So the reason I watched this video was because I was going on a "audition" to see wich team I belong to. We have multiple teams where I live because there are a lot of majorettes and we cant all fit in one team. There were 4 teams I could go into but I got into the best one. That is because of this video right here. Before I watched this video I could bearly catch a single 2 spin but after watching it and practicing I could catch it with no problem. The audition was yesterday and I caught my 2 spin. Thank you so so so much❤❤
hello, where I live here we call this material "Bastão", used in bands and fanfare in civic parades, what is the name of this material in your country?
Omg I am Soo happy there is actually a video that teaching this because I am on the twirl team and we have to learn how to do a two spin, and I also want to be the best twirler in the school :3 thank you this helped
I’ve been working on my two turn, but I always lose my balance; I can catch a horizontal two turn, but with a vertical two turn I lose my balance and tend to not catch it. I’ve only caught my vertical two turn once or twice. Any suggestions, I watched this video and it helps a little, but I’m still struggling!
Is your horizontal turn released from your left hand? You might feel more confident realising from your left. Your body already knows how to turn twice tightly, but it might be the spotting of the baton in the air vertically that’s throwing you off balance. Your head will ‘drag’ when spotting, use your peripheral instead of solely concentrating on the centre of the baton for the catch. Or try a travelling two turn vertical release, you might be better in full movement rather than static 💋

I always loved twirling but haven't twirled in decades. I'm 56 and just ordered myself a few batons😊
I’m 41 and qualified as a British coach last year! Here’s my version of a two turn 😂 ruclips.net/video/I_4RkW1kP10/видео.html
