Hongjoong and Mingi have really grown comfortable with experimenting and pushing out of their comfort zone. Always appreciate your videos because it gives technical context to their growth.
Lol, in no way taken the wrong way. I fully agree that something has been in the water since Outlaw and have been holding my breath every album/song drop since in curiosity if it would continue.
Yeahhh, I watched it .. haha I love how he did all of his "Fast raps". Literally every single one was his "fastest rap" at one point in time (except for eenie meanie but hearing that live was a pleasure in it's own)
i was looking forward to your reaction bc even during my first couple of listens of the album and still making sense of it, i thought Mingi really stepped up his game and reminded people why atz has two main rappers. It felt like he experimented more with rhythm, delivery, tone, and word play, just everything over the whole album to show us a range we havent seen from him before. It was so refreshing or as you would rank it “Impressive”!!
I have watched this video so many times 😂. I know nothing about the theory of Rap, but I have been an aficionado for 25 years now. Tge way I fell of my chair when I heard Hongjoong rap in Blind… I didn’t like the song at from first preview. Then I heard his rap in the 2nd preview and started spinning on my own head. ATEEZ rappers are some of the top rappers imo. It’s not just the speed. It’s the lyricism, the flow, the delivery, how they perform it and the continuous experimentation. Thank you for the analysis
Ateez's last album was all over the place for me (just personally, likes and dislikes) but from Hongjoong's verse in Blind I feel like I caught my breath and didn't really let it out till the last note of the album. The way he launched in all breathless? A++ for presentation, and thank you for explaining the meter, now I understand why that and that tone went so well together and made me feel off balance (in a good way). I know you're all about flow and rhythm and rhyme and I appreciate that about you, but what catches me about Hongjoong is the way that man can EMOTE. Anyway. Sorry. Thank you for the video! I'm a fairly new watcher and usually a lurker but you do a great job!
Not trynna be that guy and and be all "Umm akshually 🤓" but I feel like their earlier raps are very very VERY underappreciated. Take Mingi's verse on White Snow from almost 3 years ago for example. I don't think he has topped the experimentality of that flow eversince. And the way Hongjoong builds his verse up in Mist is also probably the best I've heard him do on that front. Or even both of their verses from To The Beat are also some of their best when it comes to overall quality. I have so many more I'm a huge fan of but I won't be listing all here because that's gonna take me weeks haha
I mean, from 90% of other comments I’d be like 😐 .. but you get a pass cause you obviously know stuff & comment all the time. I’ll check those out cause I can’t remember those verses off the top of my head. My point though was kinda that in general, their earlier raps tended to be super safe & the past year it seems like they’ve exploded~ I’ll check em out today though!!
I’m a serial lurker in this comment section but I’m glad you posted this! Honestly I feel like a lot of their more interesting stuff is hidden in the b sides on the huge discog. And the quality of the lyricism can’t be discounted either, though I know Car focuses a bit more on delivery and stuff which is totally fair.
@@carkpop For Hongjoong I would agree that nowadays he comes out with more qualitative raps but Mingi, I really don't know tbh. I feel like his raps on the earlier albums are a bit more consistently good and some great raps
@@bentenv7524i agree to an extent but i feel like a lot of mingi’s older raps have pretty similar flows, they were just faster than they are now. personal favorites of mine are his verses in silver light and outlaw(arriba too). that’s basically just from memory tho so like take it with many grains of salt haha and you’re probably more right than i am
OH 100% Mingi did really cool stuff back in the day. This was just like, the first album in a few years that it felt like he was *back* at that consistency.
if you were to reassess hongjoong and mingi’s position in the rapper tier list from a couple of months ago, where would you put them now after the album?
uh, Mingi would jump up a good 10 or 15 spots to at least the top of "Impressive"... arguably at the bottom of "More than impressive". ... but I think I'd still keep him at the top of impressive. Hongjoong would jump up to the bottom of Top TIer, (there'd be other changes like RM dropping more, so he'd be over RM, Sunwoo, and J.Seph in that tier I'd say.)
@@carkpop Please elaborate on RM dropping more. I'm guessing it was because of the new album. I thought there were some really underdone rhymes, like only rhyming a single syllable or two syllables every bar, and moments where he carried on the same flow scheme for a few too many bars, but I'd wonder how much you'd drop him. It wasn't that much worse than Indigo... was it? I thought the delivery was better in this album than Indigo - like the second half of Around the world in a day.
@@machinelearner108yeah i don’t really know if the new album should count tbh because i don’t think he made it for anyone but himself. it was just him doing whatever and i don’t think he wanted to make it too rap focused
@@yoongiverse. See.. that's what I thought originally. But then at the same time, the album was extremely hip-hop if you consider the percussion. There were many opportunities for him to pop-off with the rapping like Domodachi and I feel like he kind of didn't. Seeing as emotion, and having something to say, have been his main motivators in delivering really good rapping (like RM1, Hip-hop phile, Born singer), I would've thought he would do that in this album too. But he didn't, which makes me think, maybe he actually has lost the rap skills. Which I would really hope isn't true because I was looking forward to some bars in BTS's comeback. But yeah I guess my main point is, the rapping here wasn't any worse than Indigo and the lyrics were actually better imo in this one. So I'm curious to hear what CarKpop thinks.
honestly.... what's there to discuss? they dont write their raps (at LEAST in their non-cypher releases) so it's just about how fast they can speak atp...
As the other commenter here said; there’s not much me to talk about them.. were the raps cool? Hell yeah, but they’re XG, we already expect them to be good raps. The fact they’re not self written really means that I’d be making a video about Lyricks (the writer) and how good of a rapper he is rather than the girls themselves. Hard position to be in with them.
Here are the rap flows if you wanna hear them lined up with the song!! (Subscribe and Like
Also Mingi's rhyme scheme on Empty Box was 🤯
Best rap on the album
@@frenzy7666 THATS WHAT IM SAYING 🗣🫠
Best rhyme scheme on the album~~ Mingi genuinely did so much this time 😭
INNN SANEE
I’m so glad that the ATEEZ rap line have stepped up their game. Thank you for talking about their raps! I always enjoy your videos❤
Mingi really stepped up as a rapper this comeback. I'm glad to see him being recognised. Man worked so hard.

mingi saying he wrote a way more aggressive rap for siren but abandoned it 💔💔💔
For me Hongjoong is the best rapper in Kpop and I'm always left in awe because of him.
Have you watched I.M. On the Beat with Hongjoong? I think you'd enjoy it since he does some of his favorite raps and talks a bit about his process.

ateez just have 2 rappers and they’re enough to eat up the whole industry
I rly thought that the Mingi rap in siren wasnt completely crazy but yet SO SATISFYING and soliiiiid AaAaAaAaAah !!
MY GOATS 🐐 🙌
I’ve been waiting for this video ever since I heard the album! They’ve really grown over the course of the last few albums ❤
yaaaay ateez video ^_^ yes they literally slayed with these rap lines
I wasn't the "biggest" fan of ateez rappers, but since bouncy... I have no words... S TIER RAPPERS imo

oh dittos(?)! i remember these in jongseobs rap, they sound very cool
Diddles*! Yeah!! Jongseob did them a bit on Heartbeat drum, albeit that was more Chaotic~~
Always loved ateez rapline, and it's crazy how much they level up in each comeback
