I think the sunflower seeds were a big hit!
Opie was doing his job well. Not only do roosters protect their flock, they feed them too. That higher pitched quick cluck was his call to the ladies to come eat the seeds, even though they had beat him to them. It's the thought that counts.

Oh yes. He'll scratch up a seed for one lady then run to another to scratch her a seed. He's been forced to be more charming because big Brahma Sunny has started humping ladies and fighting Opie.

Our white Polish rooster, Mr Fluffypants, would hop on one foot, sideways behind the hen, then dance in a circle. Sometimes he’d stomp his feet repeatedly, if he had a treat for them. Sometimes he purred, or chuckled. He also had his favorites that always got treats first.

I haven't seen him dance like that but I am going to have to keep an eye out. Opie prefers our ISA Browns, Plymouths, and the Americanas. Sunny keeps bugging the Dominiques and cheating on his poor wife Karen. She follows him everywhere, is always trying to snuggle on or under him, and he just ignores her love.
