I'm very grateful for your videos, because I live in an almost Shogi free zone in Germany. We have no active German Shogi channel, at the moment, and I had no English lessons in school 🤔, therefore I prefer very much to listen to native English speakers. 😊👍

There's not much choice when it comes to English language books about Shogi. The book "Japanese Chess - The Game of Shogi" by Trevor Leggett is a basic introduction to the game. Beyond that I bought a few books from the Nekomado Online Shogi store. They have English translations of the "At a Glance" series of Shogi books. These are basically quiz books, where they show a position and you try to figure out the answer. Then the answer is on the next page, with some slight explanation. This style may or may not appeal to you, but that is all I've found for now.
I just got them yesterday! I like them so far. The books are postcard sized (6" by 4"), and they have a problem on one page and the answer on the next page. They are each about 400 pages long, for around 200 problems per book. I'm starting with the Joseki book, trying to improve my opening play.
Can someone explain why the board is oriented the wrong way. Isn’t it 9x9, so it would be a prefect square? Or does he mean with the king or another piece? I’m new to shogi so I don’t understand.
@@franciscorosario2709 The squares aren't actually perfectly square; they're rectangles. The rectangles should be slightly taller than they are wide, not the other way around, to match the pieces which are taller than they are wide.

Hello folks! Is there something like Chessbase on Shogi?
Have you received the books?

@@JimsChessChannel Nice I will Definetly need to pick them up
Hi. Can you recommend a site for playing shogi online?
I've been playing at 81Dojo - 81dojo.com/en/
Boards sideways. Squares should be tall, not fat.
Like how in chess the dark square goes on the players left.
Yes, I was new to the game when I made these videos, and didn't learn until later that I had the board oriented the wrong way.
Not to be that guy, but squares should be square.
将棋盤の向きが間違ってるよ!誰か教えてやれよ
Yes, as I mentioned in another comment, I only found out later that I had board oriented the wrong way.
