Can you take some pictures in-doors in low light. That is the scenario where I found the iPhone 5S crushed the camera on this for noise levels, white balance and clarity without post processing the raw images. I found that using the OnePlus One at Retro Gaming Expo in Portland, OR that my iPhone was much more effective at taking pictures with less blur, better color and less noise in low light than the OnePlus One without post processing raw files. I do agree that for professional photography with adequate light you can't beat RAW though! The problem is most of what I do with my phone is take pictures and want to Instagram, twitter or Facebook them immediately. If I want to take raw images for manipulation later I shoot with an DSLR. Great video though guys!
Haha I tend to agree, I love my iPhone camera. But RAW is a rather nice hat trick. The files the iphone provide seem to take photo manipulation very well even though they are JPEGs, that said the RAW trick is nice when you dont have a DSLR with you and you see something you want to give a but more attention to, like a very magic sunset or landscape.
I agree with you. If I really want to take pictures in RAW I would use my dslr. I only use my phone when I want to snap some quick pictures that are nothing fancy and usually post online or just keep. Just imagine if the iPhone 6 had raw, ohh that would have been flippin brilliant!
Please bring in more Albert content. Photo editing is very interesting now that I've seen this video. Can't wait to see more. BTW, the dog has grown a lot since the original one plus one phone review. Hope your liking the dog.
Seems to me that the guys at OnePlus One need to develop a better camera app that already automatically applies this raw processing before sharing images so it makes the workflow very show and you don't have to edit the photos off phone.
This was actually a VERY good video. Really enjoyed this one most out of anything you guys have ever posted haha Probably because the content was very interesting to me personally.
one of your best vids everrrr, no seriously, this shows what you can be done with raw without spending hours. I have messed around tweaking jpgs, I will now chnange the settings on my camera. Thanks!
RAW files are amazing. Most of the time I'd rather deal with the larger file sizes and extra time in post to get higher quality photos. My Pentax K-5 (16 MP Sony sensor) shoots in DNG and the file sizes are usually around 20-30 mb. Thank you for spreading the word on RAW files and it's really incredible to see this on a phone.
Albert is really awesome to see you and logan back at it ! I really hope you can also take a look at the mitakon turbo lens as well wich is the budget option of the metabone. Can't wait to put your take and add more content to teksyndicate !
Well this is amazing. Those resultant pictures look amazing for a mobile phone! I'm excited by the fact that as of Android Lollipop all phones are going to have RAW capture support. Also the new APIs will allow camera apps to have full true manual control over focus, white balance and exposure any pretty much any other parameter at capture time. We are going to see a massive leap forward for mobile photography. The Nexus 6 will be the first phone to have all of this and it also features the same Sony sensor as used in the OnePlus One so I suspect we'll really see some great pictures from it!
Hey tek syndicate, I just got my opo 3 days ago (LOVE IT) but I was wondering if you could do a video series on cell phone photos for noobs. I know nothing about photos but I want to use the power of choice that my opo gives me to get awesome shots!
This is more a testament to how good lightroom is at recovering a bad shot, i've recovered some pretty bad jpegs before [not taken by me] and you'll be surprised how much you can still get back. Obviously raw or go home if you're using a dslr but jpeg is fine on a phone.
So glad I bought the OnePlus One. I saw that they added RAW support, but I haven't shot anything in it yet. Need to learn some sort of post production first for it to be useful. Could you guys do a tutorial on that?
if you press 'Y' in lightroom it puts the image in side my side (before and after mode). just a little tip. much easier then resetting and setting via the history :)
Looks like I'm buying a OnePlus One for sure. Those images are beautiful on their own, but the amount of editing and tweaking you can do on them in post is incredible. I've never seen something like that from a phone. I hope the upcoming preorder day does well, because this company needs to get their product out there. This is pretty daggone sweet.
Hi Sam Medley 1+1 is a great device.. but if raw support is your deciding factor then you should wait. Google is adding raw support natively to android, so every device with Android Lollipop will support raw. Just so you know. Cheers.
Sam Medley They're coming out with pre-orders really soon, and invites are really easy to get as long as you're active on the forums. That's how I got mine :P
Android 5.0 will have support for taking pictures in RAW as well as many other APIs for photography. Some have been able to record 8mp video at 30fps with full manual exposure and focus control
Android 5 has also officially added RAW support in their camera API, tho the official camera app doesn't take advantage of that. I'm using L Camera with my Nexus 5 and I'm also very impressed at how well the pictures work out as RAW.
Much more interesting than I thought it would be. My dad loves to take pictures, but his camera is pretty eh, it doesn't do RAW and the pictures are quite blurry, no matter how much you increase the pixel count on it. Plus, it's quite a few years old, so the lens is scratched a bit.
Great video! Got my OPO a week ago and I'm going on a trip in a couple of weeks so I want my photography game to be on point. Any tips on how to choose settings when taking the photos?
You guys have some nice ass scenery there! I was planning on making a video similar to this (DSLR test footage) but everything looks so shitty here in comparison lol
That's a description of .bmp images at the start, not .jpegs. Apart from that, really enjoyed the video, I don't take enough photo's to really worry about this kind of thing but I'll give it a try out of interest.
Would it be worth it having raw on if you're not going to do a large amount of editing on it? And how well is it indoors? Just want to know some more info before I decide in switching to raw for good.
That's... that's some awesome image quality there. Looking at the web-cam I use to record video content, and all the light I need to use to make it viewable, and all the editing required to make the colours look half-decent... man, I need a better camera. Eh, on the bright side, that phone probably costs more than my PC... though I'm starting to question if that's a bright side.
Alex Lisonbee That is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. My Q6600 powered PC still costs less, but that's still cheaper than I thought it would be.
unacomn given the fact that it also has top of the line specs, this phone is probably the best deal on the market. Too bad I already live my HTC one m8
Cool to see that Albert's back and going to be contributing some photo/video content to this channel. I really need to stop being so cheap and shell out the money for Lightroom so I can get the most out of my D3300.
Thoughtful Thursday No that's still stealing. Every piece of software like this has a warning that says it's illegal without express permission of the company to copy the software. So you're stealing.
Can you edit these raw settings on the device itself. Does it have editing software to allow you to make such modifications? If not is there an app you can get on Google play?
This is probably a stupid question, but if a RAW image does not have any processing done to it and just takes the detail seen by the lens, why is it still overexposed, too warm etc seen in the images taken?
Think of it like this: RAW encapsulates millions of photos of the same subject in one shot. One of these images is chosen to be presented to you, which is the one you first see. This image will be the median (average) of all the millions of photos. If you don't like it, you can chose a different one using post-production. It feels like you are changing the image but you are not, you are just changing the way you look at it. When you use post-production on a JPG you actually are changing the image which makes the results looks fake or less good quality.
RAW is not an image file. Its random data caught by the sensor. Applications like Lightroom will process this data and create an image file from it. Except Lightroom will let you choose how to process the data rather than doing it to preset settings and creating an image file right away like a normal phone camera.
You can ship them to the UK. Actually, I live in Germany and my 1+1 was shipped from London to me. You just have to buy it from the official store of OnePlus on the website, you need an invite to do so. But once you have the phone, you'll never regret it, i promise.
Hey, this was an interesting video and it's surely impressive what the m8 can do. I'm also excited for the photo stuff & do indeed want to see more. If you don't mind answering - what microphone, stand & pop filter is being used?
I would have liked to see some edit-tries at jpeg version of the same shots. Logan should have shot a raw image and a jpeg of each same for comparison.
Maybe I shoulda waited for the 64gb version to be in stock, bought the 16gb chinese edition months ago been an awesome phone so far. i have stuff all music so the size isnt a huge issue so far. Cheers for the tips on editing RAWs.
So on my dslr I shoot everything in raw for these reasons, but when I shoot photos on my phone I'm usually not as worried about some compression on these files, in fact I am more worried about storage space on my device. But that being said, I really like the option to be able to shoot raw. Just not sure how often I would actually use it on a cell phone.
I think the RAW support is great. I love doing some post-processing! To bad the camera sucks if not shooting RAW. The slow viewfiender, slow shooter, the grain, the noise, the unsharpness is just terrible. Atleast when not in PERFECT lighting conditions.
On their site forum you can download the raw files and test it out for yourself. RAW is a godsend for photography. I use RAW whenever I can with photography. Always saves your bacon
James Downing We dont charge 1500 for a iPhone, Also www.28mobile.com/collections/mobile-phones/products/oneplus-one-16gb-4g-cm-11s we do have the phone your talking about. Its one of our best sellers.
The Lumia 1020 does DNG raw files since the start so it's not something new. Also the low light performance of the lumia is alot better since it uses a F2.2 lens and bigger sensor. What I also notice is the noise production. I also saw this in other reviews. They said the picture was prettier but there was alot of noise going on. Non the less for a cheap phone it's a pretty good camera (compared to other brands)
I'm happy with my Galaxy S5 so far and it takes really nice images without really any need to edit, provided there's adequate light but it would be awesome to see more phones adopt RAW support in the future. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to upgrade my mobile device this will be in most of the phones. Or just get a one plus one, or whatever the next version will be. the 1 plus 2. lolz.
I don't get why all phones don't allow raw shooting, it's so useful. Also, is that a cine lens on the right? Looks sweet.
Can you take some pictures in-doors in low light. If you want the best pictures on android get a g3.
Barnacules Nerdgasm Please review Oppo Find 7 (with android 4.4.2 update)
If you want great images in low light, the One has a mode called clear image, works great for me and removes that nasty noise.
Please bring in more Albert content. Photo editing is very interesting now that I've seen this video. Can't wait to see more.
BTW, the dog has grown a lot since the original one plus one phone review. Hope your liking the dog.

No
I've Been waiting for like 4 years for Albert to come back heavy on the scene. Tek Syndicate is officially the Supreme tech channel on RUclips.
Nice work Albert, looking forward to more photography content at The Tek!
This was actually a VERY good video. Really enjoyed this one most out of anything you guys have ever posted haha Probably because the content was very interesting to me personally.
Albert...so cool to see you back...Logan...well done for hiring Albert or at least bringing him back..ALBERT IS A LEGEND
Welcome Back Albert. I am looking forward to the larger variety of videos from Tek Syndicate.
The best raw shooting on Android phone video I've found so far!
Albert! Great to see your face on the Tek Sundicate channel, hope you make a permanent spot!
one of your best vids everrrr, no seriously, this shows what you can be done with raw without spending hours. I have messed around tweaking jpgs, I will now chnange the settings on my camera. Thanks!
So excited for the new camera content!
RAW files are amazing. Most of the time I'd rather deal with the larger file sizes and extra time in post to get higher quality photos.
My Pentax K-5 (16 MP Sony sensor) shoots in DNG and the file sizes are usually around 20-30 mb.

Albert is really awesome to see you and logan back at it ! I really hope you can also take a look at the mitakon turbo lens as well wich is the budget option of the metabone. Can't wait to put your take and add more content to teksyndicate !
Albert!!! Haven't seen you in forever homie good to see you working with Tek!!!
My wife is a beginner photographer, will love to see more videos like this. Thank you
Loved this, hopefully see some more Photography based videos soon!
Wow, right on!
Stoked to see more!

Loved the Touch up Scene of the Vid!
Keep the great work up! :)
Didn't the Lumia with the crazy camera (the 1020, I believe it was) shoot raw as well?
1520 too.
www.windowscentral.com/shooting-raw-your-nokia-lumia-pureview-camera
Yeah. And I'm pretty sure the cameras on those were a lot better than what's on the Oneplus One, too.
***** Oh well. I'd rather have Android (or Cyanogenmod) and you can't really beat that price.
CouchPotato343
Yeah, price is where that phone really shines. It's quite the bargain for what it offers. If only I could get my hands on one...
*****
Pssst. They open for pre-orders for one hour in three days.
preorder.oneplus.net/#preorder
This was a great video! It almost feels like a new direction for the Tek Syndicate. I love it!
This is the reason why I'm subbed to Tek Syndicate. Great quality content. Keep up the good work guys! :)
Hey tek syndicate, I just got my opo 3 days ago (LOVE IT) but I was wondering if you could do a video series on cell phone photos for noobs. I know nothing about photos but I want to use the power of choice that my opo gives me to get awesome shots!
Great content Logan,and Albert.Very informative.
Can't wait for video stuff! Always wanted to learn about how to get great looking video :)
OMFG! Albert! Haven't seen video's of him in years!
Yay for photography vids! :) just as I get into it with my new camera! awesome sauce! Keep it up

this video is amazing! i never knew how much raw data mattered before! also im probably buying lightroom now.
Oh nice. Albert is on the Tek Syndicate team :D
So glad I bought the OnePlus One. I saw that they added RAW support, but I haven't shot anything in it yet. Need to learn some sort of post production first for it to be useful. Could you guys do a tutorial on that?
That's fricken insane. I never messed around with my OPO and now, wow, that's just amazing.
if you press 'Y' in lightroom it puts the image in side my side (before and after mode). just a little tip. much easier then resetting and setting via the history :)
Very interesting stuff about photography! More of this please, great content. :)
Android L supports RAW shooting now, images taken on the Nexus 5 look pretty good too!
i just light up anytime i see Albert(& Qain). Logan u should incorporate them alot more in the vids
Look forward to your photo/video uploads!
I like you, new guy!
Really interested in video/photography equipment too.
im gonna love this new sequence of videos thanx Tek Syndicate
Looking forward to more photography stuff (More than cell phones :P) Keep it up!
Omg, behind Logan's desk - On the shelf... I just noticed that he has Heroes of Might and Magic III. That game... Is my Childhood :D
Looks like I'm buying a OnePlus One for sure. Those images are beautiful on their own, but the amount of editing and tweaking you can do on them in post is incredible. Shwetank Shukla thanks for the heads up. Main reason I don't have a OnePlus One now is I haven't gotten an invite.
I understand, Have you tried their forums? or the 1+1 sub on Reddit. They can be had from these two places, as far as I know.
Sam Medley They're coming out with pre-orders really soon, and invites are really easy to get as long as you're active on the forums. That's how I got mine :P
Pic Syndicate
Also, love the new segments, even more content to see
Looking forward to more photo/video stuff. :-)
Android 5.0 will have support for taking pictures in RAW as well as many other APIs for photography. Some have been able to record 8mp video at 30fps with full manual exposure and focus control
Yes, I like these new Tek Syndicate. More please.
Hello @Tek Syndicate, Great Review! I was wondering if you know of any external lenses that would work with the One Plus One Camera? Thanks
This feature is available in Lollipop as well, right?
Android 5 has also officially added RAW support in their camera API, tho the official camera app doesn't take advantage of that. I'm using L Camera with my Nexus 5 and I'm also very impressed at how well the pictures work out as RAW.

I have a OnePlus One as well, the camera is a wonderful thing. That's not to mention all of the other wonderful features.
Great video! Got my OPO a week ago and I'm going on a trip in a couple of weeks so I want my photography game to be on point. Any tips on how to choose settings when taking the photos?
Man you guys could give DigitalRev a run for their money!
Please make more camera related content like How Tos etc!
Thanks a lot guys :)
In flames? Really? Logan, I love you
"on cool all war it law %uh cool"
This is what captions picks up in the song at the end.
Albert joins the Tek Syndicate crew AND he does photo and video reviews? Am I dreaming?!?
I'm actually getting more in to photography so this is great timing!
I have the same lol just got a dslr not to long ago so this is perfect.
Mega jealous. This should be available on all phones!
which software were you using to edit the raw images ?
great video guys. more photog please!
Would it be worth it having raw on if you're not going to do a large amount of editing on it? And how well is it indoors? Just want to know some more info before I decide in switching to raw for good.
What on earth was the lens used to film the outside shots? The bokeh is rather peculiar but very interesting.
I remember the guy with the hat back from ur TigerDirect days, was he always part of the TekSyndicate Team ?
That's... that's some awesome image quality there.
Looking at the web-cam I use to record video content, and all the light I need to use to make it viewable, and all the editing required to make the colours look half-decent... man, I need a better camera.
Eh, on the bright side, that phone probably costs more than my PC... though I'm starting to question if that's a bright side.
It is expected to cost around $300 last I checked, the company is basically going to sell it at a loss
its one of the cheapest phones on the market, around 300 dollars, though you need an invite to be able to buy it
Alex Lisonbee That is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. My Q6600 powered PC still costs less, but that's still cheaper than I thought it would be.
unacomn given the fact that it also has top of the line specs, this phone is probably the best deal on the market. Too bad I already live my HTC one m8
The phone is $350
That looks pretty amazing! I guess I now have a reason to get a smartphone...
Cool to see that Albert's back and going to be contributing some photo/video content to this channel. I really need to stop being so cheap and shell out the money for Lightroom so I can get the most out of my D3300.
All of the Adobe softwares, like Lightroom, is available for free in thepiratebay.
I'm sure there are plenty of free equivalents that don't require him to steal.
Look into the adobe CC subscription options, you can just get the photography programs for a very low monthly rate.
Rodney way It's not stealing when you're just copying off of another person's purchase..
Thoughtful Thursday No that's still stealing. Every piece of software like this has a warning that says it's illegal without express permission of the company to copy the software. So you're stealing.
what software was it that you used in the video to edit the photos?
Can you edit these raw settings on the device itself. Does it have editing software to allow you to make such modifications? If not is there an app you can get on Google play?
What is the name of the keyboad on the desk? It just sits there and looks awesome.
Tek Syndicate - Logan: Sorry to miss it if you've already mentioned this but what case are you using for your opo :) ?
Could you please show us your OnePlus One camera settings, I dont get such good photos with mine
This is probably a stupid question, but if a RAW image does not have any processing done to it and just takes the detail seen by the lens, why is it still overexposed, too warm etc seen in the images taken?
it is the sensor itself, but with raw, you can fix that in post, this proves that the oneplus one is the best for all kinds of enthusiasts

Except Lightroom will let you choose how to process the data rather than doing it to preset settings and creating an image file right away like a normal phone camera.
Looks sweet! Wish these phones were in the UK :(
^see my other comment
You can ship them to the UK. Actually, I live in Germany and my 1+1 was shipped from London to me. You just have to buy it from the official store of OnePlus on the website, you need an invite to do so. But once you have the phone, you'll never regret it, i promise.
Super tempted. Bored of my Apple device and I really don't want to upgrade to the 6 or the 6 Plus. They're way too big for my liking.
Lucas Williams But the oneplus one is bigger? ...
Lucas Williams Too big? You know that the 1+1 is a 5.5" device? :c BUT DAT SCREEN DOE.
Hey, this was an interesting video and it's surely impressive what the m8 can do.
I'm also excited for the photo stuff & do indeed want to see more.
If you don't mind answering - what microphone, stand & pop filter is being used?
Not the HTC ONE M8... It's the "ONE PLUS" (That's a company..) ONE
what's the bit depth of the dng files it creates? thanks
Really cool video. I like this. More of this
I would have liked to see some edit-tries at jpeg version of the same shots.
What software did u use for editing those pictures
Have you used Nokia Lumia 1520 or 1020? The Nokia camera has had support for DNG for a long time
So how do i select the RAW setting on my oneplus? Or is it default?
So on my dslr I shoot everything in raw for these reasons, but when I shoot photos on my phone I'm usually not as worried about some compression on these files, in fact I am more worried about storage space on my device. But that being said, I really like the option to be able to shoot raw. Just not sure how often I would actually use it on a cell phone.
What filter were you using on the OPO?
I think the RAW support is great. I love doing some post-processing!
To bad the camera sucks if not shooting RAW. The slow viewfiender, slow shooter, the grain, the noise, the unsharpness is just terrible. Atleast when not in PERFECT lighting conditions.
how is the camera in this compared to the Z3?
Would've liked to see you try to edit the dog shot as a jpeg, just to see the difference at least.
On their site forum you can download the raw files and test it out for yourself. RAW is a godsend for photography. I use RAW whenever I can with photography. Always saves your bacon
Does Google photos auto backup's online storage keep my pics in raw format? I set my Google photos to backup full quality
Why is there a gamecube controller on logan's desk ?
Just googled! They can be bought/pre-ordered!
But you need an invitation...
True. -sigh- At least it's here though, right? Wasn't even expecting to see it on my side of the pond!
Lucas Williams Or you can get them with us at a markup. www.28mobile.com
28Mobile.com you charge 1500 dollars for an Iphone. Seriously go fuck your company
James Downing We dont charge 1500 for a iPhone, Also www.28mobile.com/collections/mobile-phones/products/oneplus-one-16gb-4g-cm-11s we do have the phone your talking about. Its one of our best sellers.

Non the less for a cheap phone it's a pretty good camera (compared to other brands)
As a fellow OPO owner, thanks for posting this, had no idea I could take RAW images. The phone is fantastic by the way, it really is underpriced
CANT BELIEVE that these photos are taken using a phone, such great image quality.
Thats amazing!
How big is the file size after you import as jpeg or similar, from light room?
what software are you using
I'm happy with my Galaxy S5 so far and it takes really nice images without really any need to edit, provided there's adequate light but it would be awesome to see more phones adopt RAW support in the future. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to upgrade my mobile device this will be in most of the phones. Or just get a one plus one, or whatever the next version will be. the 1 plus 2. lolz.
