I just watched your vlog on next door's build by chance, and now this one on your house. I really Love your pool, the garden and the aesthetics of the front of the house, its beautiful I am sooooo jealous. I live in the UK and it is 5 degrees Centigrade right now. I like your dog too! Your wall going all round the front too makes sense....privacy, with Sandy the guard dog and Prince second in command on security duty? Lol. The front of the house will look lovely with the rockery and plants. You appear to have a lovely home too, nice vlog.
As you said in one of the last videos, the view on the sea from your veranda is still great, though there is a wall now. Btw, the expression "Prince issue" and to see Sandy made me smile. Thanks for that!

I have been trying to explain the 100 degree temperature changes in regards to things expanding and contracting and depth of foundations. Some just can’t understand it. That’s what makes us tough😂
Your place is awesome. Look forward to visiting early next year. We are going to end up in the Iloilo area. Paint will not fill cracks or divets. Imperfections are beautiful. It's all a matter if you can stand the imperfections. Rust on the gate: Rust-Oleum is the paint you need to cover and stop the rust, don't know if it's available in the Philippines. You can train Prince to not pee on the gate. I had to train my dobie not to pee on the side of the shop in the back yard. It was staining the side. Took me about 2 weeks of constantly monitoring him. Prince is just wanting to mark the area to tell any other animals that this is his domain and not to enter. A good protective dog. Awesome place.
Could not find the Dirty Kitchen video on my phone but my suggestion is DO NOT ground the heads of the rivets off because that is what secures your hardy board to the ceiling joice. Also just install an exhaust fan since you are now in an enclosed room.
@@buildingthephilippines I don't know the biology behind it. It doesn't cost much to give it a try. I think you nailed it with the water temperature increase causing it though.
Hi Greg and Wilma. About your pool, do you have the attachment where you can hook up a robot vacuum to clean your pool? My wife and I live here in central Florida and she’s from Davao and we will be moving there in the next 2 years. We have a lot there 759 square meters and I’m trying to get a vision how our house with a pool, will look like. Your gate, what type of material it made from and we know your doors and windows from J marketing and I checked to see if they are in Davao, but what I found is a appliance company, so I’m not sure. Last question what is the size of your lot?
The Bondo spanning similar materials, but widely different thickness will frack most likely with thermal expansion. A good black silicone caulk might be better in joints. As to the cracks on your block wall, the crack might be in either the scratch coat, mortar joint of the block, or the block itself. It then telegraphs through to the surface. Grinding down to the block is the only way to see the problem. Maybe exposing it from the top of the wall to see if they were filled that area, did they use rebar, and if so they didn't shake the rebar/concrete mix enough to remove the air-pockets . . . As a contractor when I run across these problems they are near impossible to fix later and hide. I encourage people to use fiberglass entrainment in the scratch coat, but even properly applied scratch coat on poor quality block construction is a crap shoot. Walls constructed of 4" CMU will not allow the concrete to flow properly in such small cavities. What they are doing will not solve the cracks in the block or scratch coat. Even if you try that fix, you need to create a valley down to the block. And if you can some fiberglass drywall wall tape in that v grove . . . What can cause these problems; Poorly proportioned mixes, too much or too little water, dirt/dust in the water or on the poorly made blocks results in what I see in neighbors' walls all across the RP. It takes about 5 years, but have seen it in less than 3. All these beautiful upscale homes and high-rises after a few years are riddled with hairline cracks that will cause large problems down the pike. Because of the poor-quality of blocks and other factors of materials and labor, choosing poured concrete walls with plenty of rebar and fiber entrainment/reenforcing fibers saves on labor and crack free walls for a few decades. And with concrete poured walls, no need for the costly scratch coat. And just as important as rebar and fibers are the use of concrete vibrators instead of the inadequate rebar shake and bake method to settle the concrete mix. Or the equally poor practice of watered-down concrete mix to help with flow problems rather than plasticizers. Good luck with your repairs. Enjoy your vlogs
So glad somewhere in the Philippines is getting decent weather! I haven't seen the laser beam in over a week! 🤪 We've been under yellow (50-100mm rain/24 hours) to orange (100-200mm!) all week! 🌧 There were houses we wanted to look at this week, since we're closing the sale on my U.S. house Friday afternoon (Saturday morning here), and now I have the full ability to buy or build! But with the rain we've been getting, it's better to shelter in place, since you never know where you'll find a flood 😲 A lot of that happening on Luzon this week! I agree with other comments about the solar cover possibly raising the water temperature and allowing algae to grow. Maybe it would be a good idea to treat the water for algae every quarter, regardless? 🤔 Always making your hacienda more beautiful, Greg! 👍
