I'm for Hughes trading down if Demidov or Lindstrom are gone. However if Anton Silyaev falls in their lap at 5. They may have no choice but to take a D. Which in turn could mean using someone like Guhle or Mailloux as trade bait. It seems Silyaev is a bonafide Top line D, where Guhle might be a 2-3, mailloux 2-4. So they would get more in return than say Harris or Sruble who will likely top out at 4-5. Otherwise trade down to a Team in the 8-10 range and take Iginla. For instance Calgary would probably love the chance to have Silyaev after losing Hanifin and Tanev. AT 9 there's still a chance to get Iginla and maybe Calgary part with Connor Zary or Jakob Pelletier for moving from 9 to 5.
When does Kapanen enter the scene? McCagg is really high on him!
Great podcast. Interesting debate on who or how the Canadiens will go at the draft. Thanks
Do you not think that if Kovacevic took league minimum for 2 years that they might keep him as a 7th defenceman rather than bring someone being developed in that role?
The NHL has Hutson at #55. EliteProspects #63. Sporting News and The Athletic out of the top 30. Take Cayden Lindstrom at #5 and Hutson at #27. Could you see a line of Slafkovsky, Lindstrom and Suzuki?
Would you trade #5 to Devils for Dawson mercer and #10
If Lindstrom isnt available at 5, yeah
If Armia hits 20 goal, maybe we can net a 2nd round pick ,I wasn't a fan of him when they traded for him, he never lived up to the potential, but he's a good playoff player
Besides them having a great year, let them.all walk
Josh Anderson MUST go!
Armia is a keeper.
Gallagher will stay one more year and will be a LTIR on the following year.
Evans can be replaced and has a certain trade value.
Is it not possible that Anderson was messed up in the head with all the new instructions he got from Martin St Louis..... Sometimes small players like M stl cannot teach large players how to play hockey ... Anderson got worse because the coach new concepts does not work for him
Yeah would bring back Evans, about same amount, be a Good 4th liner, he should get 1 mil max yearly, I would like Dvorak to tear it up, after all we give up a 3rd overall pick 4 him essentially
KEEP Armia for the playoffs !!!
We messed up by trying to contend last year (we should of tanked and just let go for a higher first) like blackhawks
I agree with you on this point
Tanking that hard for that long will mess your team up. Players want to win every game and you can't trade everyone who competes hard in a lost cause. Look to Buffalo for the effect it has, people losing that often lose a piece of the mental game required in the NHL. Can't turn the switch and say Ok, get better now.
@@spooley your are right but for Montreal with the amount of prospects coming up … two year at the bottom would not have hurt I wasn’t talking or aiming for celebrini but last year (reinbacar yr) we did well …a bit to well imo this year was perfect with the 5th (and also wouldn’t want what Edmonton and toronto have with to many top1 pick that require half the salary cap)
Beck is overrated, Oliver Kapanen is more likely to take a centre spot
Beck as 4th line CTR... c'mon guys,,, BECK was head and shoulders above Slafkovsky in their first training camp... dont sleep on BECK
one is putting up 50 points in the NHL, the other bit above a ppg in the OHL. Hope hes good but i see Beck as a jake evans 3/4 C as well.
Beck doesn't have much offensive upside... Expect a slightly better version of Jake Evans
Just because you can make videos on RUclips ....does not make you an expert
@@Pksubbaru you kidding me??? Slaf was carried all the way…. Even his own powerplay unit did not want to pass to him
He had a horrid first year then they gave him first line and powerplay minutes
He was the worst # 1 overall in his first 111 games since Joe Thornton
Now he saved it with a good second half
Now being a Hab fan I want Slaf to be successful
slaf was playing with gally at the start of the year and when he was with nick and cole hes a beast and also wait till hes in his 5th year watch out boys .
Ottawa screwed up by hiring a non winning record coach.... Brady Tkuchuck is impatient. He probably wants out of Ottawa. Upgrade the Habs top 6 through trade and draft picks... The 8$ mill dollar winger who got 27 goals ... does not enter the crease..who is overweight for his stature .... looses board battles... but the league and YOU GUYS thinks he is a superstar. Trade Caulfield + Baron to Ottawa , for B. Tkuchuck and swap the 5th and 7th picks
Caulfield and baron …. That’s crazy I’d give up a 1st before touching caulfield but adding baron is way tooo much (Brady is mature/well paid player bringing him on a building team is useless)
@@joeblow4794 tkuchuk makes the same _$$$ as shrimpy .... But boy he can tear heads off while scoring thirty goals plus with Slav and suzi
Are you on drug ? Lol
Ottawa would never do that lol this isn't a video game
@@canadian1445 Tkuchuck is holding the cards not Ottawa .... Reality is he wants out not a video game
