      @@elomellow1623 I would prefer for the Habs to build through the draft than through trading or UFAs. In a couple years, the Habs will need to retain their salary cap for new contracts for Guhle, Hutson, etc... To chase UFAs or trades right now would be a way to try to speed up the rebuild. Since Trevor Timmins is no longer the Head Scout, I trust that they can pick good players through the draft instead of chasing established players.

  • @LucMartin-iz6bu
    @LucMartin-iz6bu 16 дней назад

    I say Zegras is a definite NO-GO for the Habs ... He simply doesn't fit ! He's not part of the culture, which in my opinion is paramount, especially with regard to Le Canadien. This reality applies not only to Zegras, but to Dubois, and I'm assuming a recognized potential prospect such as Trevor Connelly. The Habs have always been about "class", humility as in non-arrogance, but mostly about working as a team !!

  • @benoitrobitaille5235
    @benoitrobitaille5235 17 дней назад

    The 5th overall pick could very realistically end up equal or superior in value to a healthy 60 point producing Zegras. Mr.Zegras wasn’t producing nor was healthy last season, the Ducks are in no position to ask for his full potential market value right now.
    That being said, id trade for him if the offer is reasonable, i believe that he is worth every penny under his current contract unlike Gallagher and Anderson which are his closest comparables in MTL. Hell if the Ducks really wanted the 5th they would just have to take on one of these two big ugly veteran contracts and maybe a B prospect defenseman … for Zegras.

    • @elomellow1623
      @elomellow1623 17 дней назад

      That's a great idea to get rid of Anderson. I'd much rather keep Gallagher, because at least he's producing something. But, 5th overall for Zegras right now, would be asking for a lot.

    • @benoitrobitaille5235
      @benoitrobitaille5235 17 дней назад

      Cap space is worth quite a lot nowadays, ideally id keep the 5th too, but getting rid of the terrible contracts we still have is a priority.
      Gallagher and Anderson together are 12 million on the cap, the Canadiens could get a good 2nd goaler and a complete middle 6 line using that cap or 1 superstar, but oh well.

      The Winnipeg 1st is in the 27th overall pick. In the old days that would have been a 2nd rounder. I would trade that pick for Zegras in a New York minute. Zegras is a legitimate star player. The odds of that 27th pick turning into a player who is even close to as good as Zegras is so small it isn't worth pondering. The most probable outcome is that the player selected at 27th never plays an NHL game. The next highest scenario is that the player has a short, unremarkable NHL career. I wouldn't trade the 5th overall pick for him but the 27th? Where do I sign?

It's silly that a team with garbage offense snobs players who could have a positive impact on the total of goals scored in a season. It's so easy to bring down players. And in Montreal, it seems to be one of our specialty because we're so insecure since Jonathan Drouin.
