Marie Anne, I brought my first trench. Saved for ages. I’m petite but I decided to go with a long black trench. It’s a bit gothic and edgy. I love it. Thank for this video. Perfect
All three looks are fabulous!! As usual, you are a delight to see!! I love your humour, and the saying "the world is your oyster, and you are the Pearl"!!
"a sea of frump" I quite literally started laughing while sipping coffee and about choked! Such an accurate yet humorous phrase. I reside in an area that is semi-rural, so it is quite common to see actual farmers around town wearing overalls and work boots. However, we do have a very popular "downtown" area full of antique stores, fancy restaurants, boutiques, and a riverfront stroll. I always debate what to wear when in the more local areas. I refuse to wear a shirt sleeves t-shirt and skinny jeans to fit-in, but I don't want to be too dressy in case I end up at a feed store. My solution is usually to wear a trench coat over my casual clothes as it elevates any outfit but isn't screaming "look at me!" A sea of frump 😂 As for trench coats, I have 4. Of course beige & black, but then I've added olive and navy because I found them on sale or second hand.
Marie-Anne, you are the Queen of sustainability as well as style! As a result of watching your fabulous videos, I have discovered many new outfits in my wardrobe. Sometimes it is necessary to buy a new accessory or item of underwear to make the outfit work, but that is far cheaper than buying lots of new clothes. Also I choose any new clothes with greater care, so they will really work with my existing pieces. The French Chic philosophy is great for the planet!
Marie-Anne, my husband just surprised me with a Burberry trench coat!! I know one does not need to spend that amount of money for a beautiful, classic trench coat, but he bought it for my birthday and I could not be more excited to wear it. It fit like a glove and I know it will be with me for many, many years to come! It's such a versatile piece of clothing. Love ALL your videos! xo 💕
I guessed the coat was by Hobbs before I saw it, the metal loop at the collar really made me think it was Hobbs, I have their shorter style, excellent quality, it seems buying from contemporary designer / high end high Street is such a great thing. The quality without inflated premium pricing methods.
Marie Anne, watching your videos is like enjoying a delicious , fresh and healthy meal. Very satisfying and good for my sprit. I have been watching you tube for about two years and followed a few youtubers. Some of them started out teaching style, then turned into product sales person, encouraging women to follow trend non-stop . Some tried to be different, became very edgy and gender neutral. You are one of the very few truly believe in your own classic, French chic style and consistent teaching it with passion and joy. It really shows through. We all understand youtubers have to make a living. But the difference is so obvious. You are a true pearl in a sea of sand.
I have two: black and red. I feel like a movie star (Catherine Deneuve, of course) when I wear it with my black pants, scarf and patent leather flats. I also will wear a pair of black faux-leather gloves. I even walk with more panache!
I always admired the trench coats my granny and my uncle used to wear but somehow I never had one as an adult. Three years ago I finally got mine thanks to you and I simply adore it. I think a trench coat is a basic and very necessary piece of clothing for any wardrobe. Few things are so versatile. Here the tendency is being so underdressed that people stare at me when I walk on the street with my coat. Friends tell me that’s too elegant and formal but for me it is not. But well such is life in…the tropics!😂
Gorgeous! Your energy is everything. I don't know your age but I love how you can put on your shoes standing balanced on one foot at a time. You are so youthful. Stay awesome!
Bonjour Marie-Anne: I love a trench coat and yes I have one! It seems as though I have been wearing a trench coat for many years. It never goes out of style.❤
Bonjour Marie-Anne, again a super video. The first trench I saw in my life was the trench of my father. When I was a child, I loved to see him wearing his trench. For me he looked, how to say, so serious, important in this coat. It impressed me as a child. Well, now I am in your age and of course, a trench coat is one of my favourites for so many years...🙂
Yes! I turned 60 this year and have committed to "making an effort." Older does not mean frumpy. Older CAN mean that we can afford higher quality. I have invested in an entire new wardrobe. Out with my covid-wear and in with a new era of elevated classic style.
I love it! I do not want to be "invisible in the frump". Thank you for styling the trench for different occasions. I never thought about styling an over coat. Thank you for expanding my styling mind.
Thanks Marie-Anne, I’ve been kind of shy wearing my trench coat. I really like the way you accessorized it in your video, I am feeling motivated to use it more this fall. Your tips are such a blessing!!!
I have a black trench coat with detachable hood. I love wearing it buttoned and belted. It accentuates my small waist. Your outfit ideas are so attractive. Great video
Bonjour Marie-Anne - Thank You for showing your capsule wardrobe. I absolutely love every single pieces. But I have to say, you have a great figure 👌💯 which is a bonus.
Thank you Marie-Anne. I’ve never bought a trench coat but I love yours and the way you style it to make so many different outfits. This is a really helpful video and you’ve converted me to the versatility of this style of coat!
I love my trench coat I have had for many years. Instantly elevate a look over a t-shirt and jeans. Usually large enough to add a sweater for colder weather.
Marie-Anne you have so much fun with your wardrobe. You have collected over many years a classic wardrobe and knowing how to put it all together Is a talent which I have learnt so much .Now to build up my wardrobe and I can keep referring back to your beautiful videos .Thank you 👏🥰😘
Hello Marie Anne I enjoy all you videos always something to learn. This evening I went out with my husband for dinner and I wore my pearls with a navy blue trousers and a black top. I feel feminine and my husband likes the new me. By the way I wore flat ballerinas Chanel too. Thanks to you I feel more beautiful xx
I’m still a work in progress but I’ve come a long way!! I used to dress down for fall. I’d gravitate to flannel, leggings and denim and sweatshirts. Yesterday after exercise class there was a meeting at the library I could have worn what I had on. Other ladies did. But instead I wore navy straight leg pants, a white satin shirt sleeved shirt blouse, a leopard print cardigan and a gold chunky necklace. It was chilly Instead of a jeans jacket I wore my camel belted blazer but I kept my navy converse sneakers on I felt so good I just love wearing better clothes when I go somewhere. I always carry a good bag in a neutral color It’s amazing what swapping a tee shirt for a nice blouse can do for a person I loved this video and all your outfits
I was so lucky to find a second hand trench from Club Monaco for $50 cad (35€)! Impeccable tailoring, inside and out. Thanks for sharing these styling tips, in Canada it’s more a « convenient » coat than a stylish item. I will definitely use your tips, merci!
You are too adorable!!! I shook my head right along with the camera to the Mary Jane’s lol I thrifted two beautiful vintage trench coats. One in the tan, very classic snd one in a pale blue grey. Can’t wait to wear them ☺️
Hello Marie Anne! I LOVE trench coats!!! Your one is very nice. I also have a beige one, one in navy blue witch is rather long and a bright red one! The red one is a little to colorful but I wear it with blue jeans and my briton shirt wich has white and red stripes..! My favorite is the beige one because it is as you say very versatile! My favorite to wear with it are white sneakers, whit blouse and wide dark blue jeans. Or even a flowy dress and sneakers. You look very elegant in your clothes.. Very nice!! 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
I bought a coat of Wellington of Bilmore. Trenchcoat material. Slim fit, .... dark green. Not double breasted. No big collar, no epaullets, no belt. I think, in terms of style it still belongs to the trench family. It elevates casual outfits, I feel fine in it and wear it often. Nevertheless I would also fancy a real classic light beige Trenchcoat like your one, Marie Anne! It looks great.
I love trench coats. They are perfect for an apple shape and for a Melbourne winter. I have 2, one unlined spring/autumn weight one and one heavier, fully lined winter one. If it’s quite cold I like to fill in the open front with a long cashmere scarf. Then I am nice and warm. I liked the way you showed bags with these outfits. I wish you would do that more often. I feel that a handbag gives the final polish to an outfit.
I want a trench coat! You make it look so chic and elegant. But where I live, in Southern California, I don’t think I’d use it except to look très chic! Thank you for all your videos. You get me out of my jeans and tee-shirts and I feel so much prettier when I do! 💕💕💕
What a wonderful life you made in Paris.. Great RUclips channel. I so much admire your perfect taste. Thank you for opening ladies eyes to classic fashion. World Class ! Monna from across the pond. 🌹
I love them all but the third outfit is the best, and wow! You certainly accomplished your goal! Ever see those old cartoons where the guy sees a girl and his eyes pop out with hearts and he goes "WOW", that was me right there. That trench coat looks great with all of those outfits, too. You have such an incredibly amazing sense of style all the time, I love it!
Marie-Anne, thanks so much for doing a video on trench coats. I've been shopping for just the right one and this video will help me focus on buying one with the right details. And it will help me to wear it in the most fashionable ways. I loved the belt tied in the back to cinch the waist. Loved that! I also loved the dark belt because it matched the buttons on the coat, but I'm sure you're right to look for a wider belt. I loved your second pairing. Again I loved the two-toned shoes. I guess I also need to buy some two-toned shoes when I buy my trench coat. And I love when you say "oooooh" when you think of a new idea.
Love the tan belt over the trench and the original belt tied at the back, that's how I wear mine. Outfit 2 looks great, I would have chosen a camel turtle neck 😂 just me playing safe. Outfit 3 is gorgeous , the idea of a three quarter length coat is inspirational as I am only 5ft tall. Great video 🌹🌹
Bonjour Marie-Anne, I have just recently purchased a trench coat and guess what, it's a Hobbs, the same one but mine is in a pale green so still, a fairly neutral colour, I looked for ages online to find it it's a very good quality, you certainly get what you pay for, I have always had one, they never go out of fashion.
I recently purchased a trench coat so this video couldn't have come at a better time - thank you Marie-Anne! I absolutely love my new trench and will most definitely be dressing it the way you've advised. Merci!
I loved the outfits! The cardigan with the bejewelled buttons is beautiful, and the last outfit, gorgeous! The trench adds the perfect finishing touch, I also liked when you tried a leather belt with it.
I don't have a trench coat but I'm going to buy one now. :-) I can't decide which outfit I liked best, all where beautiful but I really love the sweater in outfit #2. I was also shopping my closet a few days ago and started purging it, I honestly forgot how many nice things I have. My closet is functional again and just in time for a new trench coat! Thank you Marie-Anne!
Great video, Marie-Anne! I wanted you to wear the white silk blouse with the black skirt, but you were right…….the column of colour under the trench looked great!😍
I enjoy your videos. Thank you, Marie-Anne for sharing your French chic style advice and wardrobe. I have lots of trenches in different weights and colors. My nicest is probably my Burberry. Thanks again for sharing. Have a beautiful and blessed day.
Bonsoir Marie Anne. I just adore trench coats. I bought one last year and its so stylish and very versatile. I agree 100% that it really elevates every outfit and I’m so happy I found the one that I really wanted which is a longer length as I’m 1m 67cm in height. I particularly loved the look you styled with that beautiful cream knit cardigan and tweed brown trousers with the trench on top.🧡🍁🍂
What a fun video!!!! You did a fabulous job describing the different styles!!! Loved them all❤️. I’m in my seventh decade and I see I need to find a trench coat!!! You have such enthusiasm definitely not boring❤️
I have three Hobbs trench coats. Two of them, tan and beige, were bought in Hobbs' online sales, and the third, in navy, was a pre-loved eBay find. Probably two too many, but they were impossible to resist!
Dear Ms Marie-Anne, you give us so many lovely ideas how to change the look of a everyday trench coat!!! I must admit that in Canada, Fall is often cold (too) soon....but it is wonderful to keep your guidance in mind for....Spring! Thank you so much! helene :))
Great tips and ideas. I like the way you tied the belt behind. I prefer the original belt with the coat. I don’t have a trench coat. They look good on tall people but as you say a 3/4 length is better for petites.

I love my black trench coat, especially with my jeans, boots and black polo neck and of course with my red lipstick 😊❤

Great! :-))
Congratulations! What a thoughtful husband! Are Burberry trench coats still made in England or have they moved manufacturing abroad now?
@@elisabethlinz4256 Thank you!
@@Elle_Gowing I bought mine on a trip to Italy. They had a Burberry store. Mine says "made in England"
Lucky you!
I really like the cream sweater with the French tuck.
I agree with you, let's elevate, no matter the age. It's just fun, and good overall. I love your 'walk in closet'!!!

I seldom button my coats (live in a warm climate) so like the trick of tying the belt in back for a slimmer silhouette (and less likely to lose it).
I always enjoy your videos! Thank you Marie-Anne!
I just bought a nice new trench coat, perfect timing 😄

Yes always have one. Even though I live in so California and it’s perfect for our winters.
My trench coat is beige with navy buttons and navy piping around the collar, cuffs etc. I love it, it was very inexpensive about 5 years ago.

I finally bought my trench coat!!!

Very good advice as usual Marie-anne. My trench is navy but I hardly wear it. I will now as it can look so chic. Merci x
I have 3 expensive ones (bulky when the zip out lining in in place) beige and red and a cheaper tight dark green (no lining).
Thanks Marie-Ann for this video . love your sense of humor😘
Awww Marie-Anne, I love your authenticity! I absolutely adore your reactions. Great educational video too. Thank you!
Wonderful as usual! I love all 3......I now have more ideas on how to wear my trenchcoat. Thank you Marie-Anne
Hello Marie -Anne, my trench coat is a soft pale pink and I love it. It's a piece of my wardrobe I grab for all the time. Thank you for this video.
I don’t have a Trench Coat, BUT having seen how I could style one it’s something I will consider purchasing, good video Marie-Anne thank you.
Love Hobbs trench coat, goes with almost everything🥰
Love the tan belt over the trench and the original belt tied at the back, that's how I wear mine.
Outfit 2 looks great, I would have chosen a camel turtle neck 😂 just me playing safe.
Outfit 3 is gorgeous , the idea of a three quarter length coat is inspirational as I am only 5ft tall.
Great video 🌹🌹
