@@MetroXLR99 I know that was the reason why the movie was the highest grossing movie of 2023 (for 3 months till Barbie beat it which is another movie based on long running and nostalgic children's media brand that was also extremely popular in the mid 80s to early 90s) that and the movie was made by passionate fans of Mario cause you know it was made by legit fans of the franchise by adding the theme song from the super mario bros super show which much like the old Mario movie Nintendo refuses to acknowledge it's existence and unline back then where there were only a few Mario games with the original 3 nes games and Super Mario World being at the time the latest entry of the series there's more games now to take inspiration from some of which had an actual story to them instead of just save peach from bowser like Mario Galaxy 1 which yes Bowser does still kidnaps peach but the soundtrack, quality of the cutscenes and that Bowser's overall main objective which is that he wants to take control of the entire universe felt more cinematic than previous Mario games plus you also had the Mario RPG games such legend of the seven stars, the Mario and Luigi games as well as the Paper Mario games basically expand the lore and worldbuilding of the Mario universe
@@MetroXLR99 cause that was I believe the 3 main reasons why the original 1993 Mario movie failed was that Nintendo wasn't heavily involved since that was the very first video game movie and based on one of the most highly successful video game brands of all time so Nintendo in their hubris thought that even if the movie was bad it'll still make a lot of money due to the insane popularity of the Mario brand at the time but of course it flopped and up until now was the sole reason why Nintendo refused to license their other fanchises to be adapted into film and 2 you have to realize that at the time the only people who played Mario games at the time were young kids and teenagers ans the people making this never played a Mario game or any video game at all and were trying to look at this from a film standpoint cause at the time the Mario games were really hard to adapt cause they had little story to them and the story that was there was extremly generic as the whole damsel in distress trope had been already done to death at that point.

If they only existed in a dream Mario had in SMB2, how is it they've found their way in the Mushroom Kingdom, with the aforementioned 3 baddies ending up in Bowser's vast army?
