When you said that violet is long gone I started crying. I mean, it's obvious that she would have died sooner or later but seeing it on screen... I can't take it😭
@Tai copperthwaite i disagree. It instead just provides her with more of a romantic happy ending rather than a bitter sweet happy ending. I prefer the more realistic approach that came with the anime where she learns to be human and in the end learns to move on from the past rather than "gilbert's alive this entire time but hid himself because he wanted her to learn to be human bla bla and then Violet reverted back to her old persona for abit, go through some dramatic plot surrounding gilbert abit and then ending up together in a romantic farewell"
All I wanted was to see them both overcome their past where Gilbert can leave the guilt behind to finally face Violet to see how she has overcome her need for “orders”, can assert her own will, and understand his feelings and the meaning of love. My heart can be at peace after that!! They both went through so much and just deserve to be happy lol. That’s just my opinion.

No "I love you", no kisses, just an embrace and 5 minutes of crying and this is one of the most beautiful happy endings to a couple I have ever seen in anime, a pinky swear the audience knows what's about.
@@isabellallamasdelosreyes7237 i can agree with you since in the anime when, violet learns that gil is alive she leaves the post office and gets to live with gil in the island for the rest of her life. But in the novel for me it is the best ending. Spoilers. We see how violet and gil has moves on from their past. Violet still works at the post office while having all of her friends + gil. I’m waiting for that train scene in the novel to be animated. The feeling of longing and finally meeting the person you wanted to see the most was beautifully portrayed there. But I guess since it’s an anime (movie) they make original and different spin off. Anyways, at least Gilbert and violet get to see each other :)
Meh, I'll always prefer how Violet and the Major got reunited in the novel. When he parachutes in like a Navy SEAL BADASS and saves her during the train hijacking.
Saw the trailer at my local theater 2 days ago and decided to watch the series on Netflix before watching the movie. THE BEST 24 HOUR BINGE DECISION OF VIOLET EVERGARDEN EVER! and just saw the movie tonight. WHOLESOME!
Ew Gilbert raised her & was literally going to adopt her before the chaos happened. Just because she's a little older now doesn't make there reunion suddenly romantic love. @@Nyjae8 i agree with every single words that you said but they actually did marry each other at the end. It was pretty obvious that they are now "romantic" but i hate this facy
Drenched in tears. Heart broken at the loses in this movie. And I'm felt feeling empty. She found her true love and yet we don't get to see the years she lived out, as well as in her old age until the last moments. I just want to see a comforting smile on violets and Gilbert's face knowing they made it to the end with each other. 99/100 this closing movie. If only Kyoto animations wrote am aging happily ever after script 😭😭😭
Bro, if you can watch in movie theater, be sure to prepare tissue + a spare mask also. I watched in last week in movie theater in my city, my mask became wet because I was sobbing the whole movie (well, due to covid, we have to wear mask everywhere ).
Honestly I still feel empty and on in the void till this day. I'm happy as long as Violet gets to be the happiest she could be And here I am still in the void... Looking for the next gem
I've been waiting for the release on Netflix to finally watch this video, and the time has finally come. I just finished the movie and it was amazing. Truly a work of art and literature. Violet Evergarden, in my eyes, is a masterpiece and will always be remembered in my mind. Thank you KyoAni and thank you Foxen Anime for the wonderful review!
the long cry that seemed to last forever..it just makes sense. an entire lifetime of pent up emotions released in one moment, what else could a person do besides cry uncontrollably? with the time travel, I love that they showed the impact she had on future. hundreds of years later, her letters and journey are still affecting the world. it's all beautiful.
After one year of waiting, and finally watching this masterpiece, I have to say it was so much more than I was expecting. Animation was stellar, story was extremely good, and everyone got closure. I live in a country where this kind of movies never get released in theaters, and I have to say I really hate not being able to watch this in the theater. The feels were so intense, but I have to say it was only sad until they sick kid arc ended. I don't know if it is just me, but as a Violet Evergarden fan, after all we went through alongside her within the series, seeing her actually get closure made me happy instead of sad. I cried, but they were tears of joy, not sorrow. My No1 favorite series will never lose its place because of the nostalgia, but this definitely makes 2nd place. I will get a BluRay copy no matter what. KyoAni deserves it, after pulling this with everything else that they went through.
I'm feeling so bad right now, I can't breath because of the sadness of this finishing and with all the dramatic violet is long dead, I mean don't get me wrong it's genius, but look, I already know that people die, just don't remind me. I want happy childish endings with weddings and kids.
This movie was just an absolute masterpiece. I'm so glad I watched it and I would love to rewatch it again and again to truly revist the beauty of this story. Thank you Kyoani
I just hoped they showed more gilbert and violet time together... I mean we spent 13 episodes, 1 movie and an OVA for them to meet and the only scene they get is that on the beach. I mean c'mon. My heart literally yearned for moooooore
@@FEARSxCAMAR0 The anime is also finished probably two years since She work on Auto Memory Doll and the movie takes place more than a year since the last episode of the anime. So Violet is probably older and in LN she is more older than her presumed age in Anime
@Emprinyx Yeah a good way to indicate time is that Eiffel Tower. In Auto Memory Doll it was halfway built and in this movie it is completely built. I don't remember exactly how many years the second half of that movie took place after the last episode; I think it was 4 but I could be wrong.
I don't know why, but honestly, this is one of the best show i've ever watched. It feels like it won't go wrong even if they take the most absurd choice. The most emotional and beautiful one i have seen yet. And the characters, how i miss them... Hodgins, Gilbert, Benedict, Cattleya, Iris, Erica, Ann, Leon, Charlotte, hell even Deitfried too. And Violet, ahh Violet.... I've never been as attached to a character as much as i do with Violet. I don't even know what so special about her. It's maybe just me, or maybe she reminds me of something quite personal, idk what it is though. The story as a whole is excellent, no question at that. And don't get me started with the animation, every frame of the animation feels like paintings of their own, magnificent, truly beautiful. This whole anime felt really sad and personal, yet also really ethereal and dream like. It may not be perfect, but this anime will always have a special place in my heart.
I remember when watching the ending just screaming for gods sake man hug the woman, what is wrong with you lol like seriously, she's trying to pour her heart out to and your just standing their like a lemon while she cries, HUG her lol! I was hell'a ugly crying at that part and also so frustrated with the major lol
This is the first movie that made me cry in theaters and I’m happy that I did because of how much I love this anime. This also made my sister cry too. Thank you Violet Evergarden.
Just recently watched the movie with it's Netflix release and then I remembered I skipped your video on it to avoid any influence that could indicate spoilers whatsoever. The movie totally got me multiple times. How often did you cry? For me it was like 2-3 times where I at least was getting teary eyes. I can't imagine watching this movie in an theatre with other people and hearing them all cry with me like on the beginning when you realize it's the granddaughter of the girl Violet wrote letters earlier in S1 in name of her dead mother. KyoAni really did awesome work, it even feels like you can feel the passion they put in remembering the colleagues lost in the fire. I also really liked how they concluded Violets story and connected it to our current days and age at the end. The ending was so deserving and satisfying for all Violet fans and Violet herself. In my book this goes down as a masterpiece.
Between finding out the movie was coming out and finally starting to play “Nier Automata” there’s been an empty feeling in my chest that just can’t be filled. I can’t think of much else but to know that Violet, through all of the torment, all the suffering and pain and loss, has all of that stuff actually mean something and she gets her happy ending. Personally though I would’ve loved to see that Major Gilbert and Violet go back to the summer house, the place it all started, and live the rest of their lives in anonymity. Maybe with a few mini Violets/Gilbert too.
I binged the show on Netflix and I don't think I have ever cried this much in one day. I was wreck by the end of the day and episode 10 just destroyed me more. Another part that made me really crie is when she realises that every person she killed is a letter that won't reach it's destination... I was crying with violet on that realisation
I cried my eyes out literally! It felt the way we all feel when we are in love and devoted to that one person... Gosh great series, I highly recommend it but do take some tissues next to u!
@@gil828 yeah, they have a son too which appeared in the movie In current day part of the movie the teacher was their child and the mail man who thumbs up was their grandchild In light novel their whole married life was shown but anime just skipped that. But they end up together and have a happy ending in both anime and light novel
i've seen all of the violet shows and movies on netflix. since they helped fund it, i'm sure i'll get to see this one too. i'm really glad she finally found her happy time with the major. i seriously can't wait!
I just finished watching the movie today.. and here I am looking at pictures and videos of Violet and Gilbert or anything really for more closure😭😭 The movie was so amazing and tear jerking I cried so much in theaters :")
The whole movie was perfect..a bittersweet ending and a beautifully nostalgic feeling carrying you throughout the movie. I will miss Violet Evergarden dearly. ❤️ Thank you Kyoto Animation for this true masterpiece that touched and impacted millions of heart forever.
I loved this movie, finally finished the movie and now I’m satisfied. I am going to rewatch the anime, ova special and both movies to refresh my mind. The animation, artwork, music and story was a 11/10, a top 10 in my anime list.
I'm excited to see the relationship development between Violet and Gilbert. Honestly, Gilbert's "I love you" got me confused about what kind of relationship do they have, is it family-kind or in a romantic way..?
I honestly wish that this story just received slice of life seasons. Each episode giving her more life to her character as she grows older over the years, progressing the world and her characters understanding of the world and overall human emotion.
I empathy and love violet evergarden more than any other waifu 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺she’s the best❤️❤️❤️❤️... this anime have the greatest heart soothing views while watching the anime i felt like going to the places
Honestly season 1's ending made it feel like it was meant to end so to say. The movie seems to just be like a little thing to show how the characters all end up and to give Violet a proper closing. I don't know what they would do for a season 2 either unless there's a lot of stuff they didn't use from the source material. Seems like they would have to just make stuff up for a season 2. Maybe some specials would be good.
It’s time to rewatch and recry, especially the “Infamous episode 10” that sucked my eyes dried. I do love hearing spoilers for every anime but this is the first time i stopped watching the spoiler section because i don’t want to be spoiled.
Literally i loved this movie and omg i cried my ass off with those two scenes and when I saw the ribbon in the tree I felt empty inside and when i saw the credits rolling I felt this bittersweet ending
I saw it last night, and it was amazing. Without spoiling it, it was a satisfying conclusion to the series. Not all shows can reach that level of finality. (GoT for ex.) Also, it's hard to decided which was most sad between ep 10 and the movie parts when you are blinded by tears for both 😂
i really cant wait for the movie, as a huge fan of this series tissues and all! glad you really enjoyed this movie, i cant wait to see it i do hope Funimation grabs it, they did release the spin off movie in theaters so there is a chance, but depends on COVID-19. i fully expected a dump truck of tissues to be required for the movie so not surprised by the amount of crying ;-) as for your spoiler part, it sounds like it ends simular to the book but going by what your saying in the movie it does sound like the movie has more closure then what the LN provides so ill take it tbh. Thanks for taking the time to do a quick review on Violet! just wish i didnt have to wait so long to see it ...
I loved Violet Evergarden. I wish there was more, way more before this ending. All of these episodes were so beautiful and meaningful and made with such care. Nonetheless, this was a great conclusion to one of the greatest stories ever told.
i watch this last night so it means violet passaway in the end of the film i thought shes grown old woman .... which is im quite sad.. i did not see her one last time... just for credit scene ...
I would say I want to see the both of them together, but the age difference is wide since she was a child when he met her. He probably will die a lot earlier than violet will.
Violet Evergarden Its every ep was tearing..every ep was trying to teach something..every ep was so heart-warming..every ep was like a little sad story... In every ep she got to know what love means.. In each ep she was realizing what love is!!
I have watched your review on the movie several times and enjoying the scenes. Since some sources say netflix wont upload until april 2021, this gave me a little food to digest. So thank you for that. But on the other note. I can feel the ugly cry knowing from the beginning she was bowing to me for the last time. That hit home. Its that moment you may feel that you have to freeze the screen and say good bye. 😓 but im happy she meets him. Not happy i aint get a kiss or hear the words i love you. just what looks like a pinky promise. They better be pinky promising to give me a next movie to cover the grounds they missed. I invested in their relationship. Heck i deserve to see a kiss scene or marriage or heck how they just lived!!! But i look forward to saying Goodbye To Violet Evergarden and the major
I just watched the movie and boy everytime man, I almost tear up but nah my brain says "Tatakae! Tatakae!" Works everytime. But jokes asise all I have to say is that this anime has to be the most serious and realistic that I've ever watched, it felt so real idk how to explain it. All emotion is just ugh so darn good, they nailed it. Altough I wish to see Violet and Gil at the end bit more, but I'm happy what we got. I am bit sad this AMAZING anime has ended 100/10 anime. If you have a friend that wants to start watch anime this is it. I love this anime.
Definitely a rain came after those scene, i love violet, i love everything about her and also the way she finally understand and tell what she really feels. I also wish that the movie tackles her life with the person she cherish, I wanna see her life being full of happiness, because for the past series and movie I just saw her development but I never seen her genuinely happy. I want a story where violet will be able to smile and tell everything she felt with ease. But over all I'm also happy knowing that she finally found what she's been longing. Thank you for giving us a masterpiece.....
In Japan there was a sample of letter that Violet wrote to Gilbert given as a prize to limited people who watched the movie. It does appear that the last line of the letter was not read in the movie, the last line of the letter is that Violet said "I love you, major". I don't know why the movie did not included that but that would change the whole meaning of the last scene, which explained why Gilbert said what he said to Violet on the beach. Another significant in this is that Violet has grow to the point to tell Gilbert "I love you" in form of the letter, but she is not yet fully capable of speaking it out loud. There are many other significant significant line that linked Ulysse(the sick boy) story to the last scene, such as Violet said she want to tell the Major that she understand a little what "I love you" mean and Ulysse ask "Is that all?", but Violet did not answer. It would've make sense the Ulysse's death has made Violet realized that answer and that is why she was able to wrote "I love you, major" in the letter. I do not know why they decide hide the last line in the movie but I hope this can help people that felt a bit "awkward" or confuse toward the last scene where Violet and Gilbert finally meet.
I glad that they bring up Episode 10 my favorite episode in the Anime I wonder if Violet get to see Princesses Charlotte again and her friend Luculia and lizabeth
I know that I’m a very sensitive and emotional person and overall cry over movies, series and books I‘ve either watched or read. However, I have never- absolutely never cried so much and for so long over a movie like Violet Evergarden The Movie. I could fill thousands of bottles with my own tears. It was so impactful and I absolutely cannot describe how both happy and heart-broken I am. (btw I watched the beginning of your Video a few hours ago and finished it now after watching the movie a few minutes ago and am typing with swollen eyes and a lot of tissues next to me and with my bad english...sry for that) Nevertheless, I just wanted to say how I absolutely love this movie. I am definitely going to read the novels as well one day. I‘ll take my leave now and thank you for reminding me to watch this and the great video overall (sry for being cheesy) Have a nice day/night!
I started to feel literally catharsis (soul cleansing), that specific emptiness, when I finished the story (watched everything including the final movie). Not every medium can do this to me - only true masterpieces can induce those feelings in me. I can't stop thinking about Violet Evergarden anime, it may even be compared to falling in love, when you feel bad if you stop thinking about that important person for some time. That emptiness, because you want more (both in case of this anime and in case of loving someone - you just want to have more time together)...
been waiting for a year to watch it's En subed and oh boy its painful to say goodbye to the girl. Although kind of sad that the epilogue of the movie didn't feel like it has been justified enough. It has confirmed that Violet and Gilbert eventually get married in the source, but doesn't seem like they had any children even the movie didn't seem to show us their decedents but its still a great story to sendoff our girl into a Happy-ever-after ending scene.
That also got me in the end. All we get is an ending photo of Violet and the Commander pinky swearing? No wedding, no child bearing, no anything? Idk, it kinda gives me Kora the Last Avatar feels with its own ending.
@@noctisthehumanslayer777 the fact that they didn't give us any confirmation as to did they have a family made me anxious for them, because if they didn't start a family then a great generation lost, and it's like the story "Up" all over again at this point. Both gotten married but wasn't able to have kids, make it way more sad if u think about it like that. I hope they make an ova special episode about it that they get married they managed to start a family and was able to live out their life's happily when seeing their children grow up. That will be such a beautiful epilogue. And I'll definitely cry to it.
@@iMacho1300 Well it is confirmed from the light novel that they get married so there is at least that. But I do feel like they did a huge disservice to the audience by not showing them grow old together and how they contributed to the world around them. Were just left feeling hallow and unsatisfied inside. Like that feeling you get when you have a tasty dinner and you go for more but realize your all out and the store is closed for the night....it sucks
It optional yet it one of the side-quest that us human can't seem to ignore. Many has completed or think they has completed the quest and many still trying to figure it out... this is why we love this story so much. Because many of us still don't know what love is.

Alternate movie title: "How to cry before you watch the movie"
Drenched in tears. Heart broken at the loses in this movie. And I'm felt feeling empty. She found her true love and yet we don't get to see the years she lived out, as well as in her old age until the last moments. I just want to see a comforting smile on violets and Gilbert's face knowing they made it to the end with each other.
99/100 this closing movie. If only Kyoto animations wrote am aging happily ever after script 😭😭😭
the scene where the kids letters are being read by his family and when he says goodbye to his friend, WOAHH i died like jeez i couldn’t stop sobbing

Bro, if you can watch in movie theater, be sure to prepare tissue + a spare mask also. I watched in last week in movie theater in my city, my mask became wet because I was sobbing the whole movie (well, due to covid, we have to wear mask everywhere ).
This review has been out for six months, and today, I finally saw it in theaters, in the US. I'm so happy with this movie.
2020: "why are you crying so much?"
Me: **This**
2020: "hah! never expect this **sob**
Honestly I still feel empty and on in the void till this day.
I'm happy as long as Violet gets to be the happiest she could be
And here I am still in the void... Looking for the next gem
I don’t know what to do with my heart right now… She can’t be dead uuuuuhghh
RIP to her and to the Kyoto workers who lost their lives. Some of them probably helped in season 1 of Violet.
Same here man... Just watched it right now.
I know right. I prefer reicarnation.
She was reincarnated as a slime
What? Violet is what?
@@aaaaa8139 watch the video, it's all there, pretty much at the ending (nothing bad happened to her she was just old)

@@codekuch4192 The movie takes place several years after the show ended. Violet is 18+ now.
@@codekuch4192 Typical dumbass Normie Puritan, because the person is right below you.

To anyone who wants to watch the violet evergarden 2020 movie, it is available in animehub but its quality isn't the best still the best movie!!!
It may not be perfect, but this anime will always have a special place in my heart.
the spoilers already got me sobbing, I don't want this to end
I remember when watching the ending just screaming for gods sake man hug the woman, what is wrong with you lol like seriously, she's trying to pour her heart out to and your just standing their like a lemon while she cries, HUG her lol! I was hell'a ugly crying at that part and also so frustrated with the major lol

I got a feeling the Violet Evergarden movie will be the first time I will cry when reading the credits
Just saw it on theaters, I haven’t cried this much since I saw “on this corner of the world”
Just recently watched the movie with it's Netflix release and then I remembered I skipped your video on it to avoid any influence that could indicate spoilers whatsoever.
I'm so desperate to watch this movie that literally just watching this video I started crying, it's killing my wait
I cried my eyes out literally! It felt the way we all feel when we are in love and devoted to that one person... Gosh great series, I highly recommend it but do take some tissues next to u!
I started crying from just imagining the scenes.... Cant wait to see the movie on netflix, i hope it will come out this year
Even thou it ends with the future scene I can still peacefully sleep knowing that they have reunited :)

Lmaoo it’s romantic
I honestly wish that this story just received slice of life seasons. Each episode giving her more life to her character as she grows older over the years, progressing the world and her characters understanding of the world and overall human emotion.
This anime is just so good, this is one of my favorite anime of all time.
I realize that. I was saying that if they did do that they would have to make stuff up since I think there isn't enough material to use.
It’s time to rewatch and recry, especially the “Infamous episode 10” that sucked my eyes dried.
I do love hearing spoilers for every anime but this is the first time i stopped watching the spoiler section because i don’t want to be spoiled.
I don't even watch the movie yet but I'm already crying by imagining the scenes.

Just watched the movie and wow. My emotions are all over the place. I really hope there is more to the story.
i love violet, to hear that this is the end of her journey makes me sad
Literally i loved this movie and omg i cried my ass off with those two scenes and when I saw the ribbon in the tree I felt empty inside and when i saw the credits rolling I felt this bittersweet ending
Yurith stole the show. Damn Ninjas blending some onions.
i deadass bawled in the theater like an hour ago
I just got home from seeing it in theaters. I cried enough to drain all the water in my body.
I loved season 1 when I first saw it. Sad to see it come to a end but I'm happy I was able to experience this beautifully animated story.
Thanks for taking the time to do a quick review on Violet! just wish i didnt have to wait so long to see it ...

i watch this last night so it means violet passaway in the end of the film i thought shes grown old woman .... which is im quite sad.. i did not see her one last time... just for credit scene ...
The end credit where shes walking in a darkpath is just beautifil and sad. Sooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I would say I want to see the both of them together, but the age difference is wide since she was a child when he met her. He probably will die a lot earlier than violet will.
Violet Evergarden
Its every ep was tearing..every ep was trying to teach something..every ep was so heart-warming..every ep was like a little sad story...
In every ep she got to know what love means..
In each ep she was realizing what love is!!
Great story but I find it SUPER weird how Violet and Gilbert's love turned romantic... He basically raised her
ikr why is no one questioning thiss
I cried during the movie knowing that its the end..and also cause of one scenario
Just seen it at the Cinema, A masterpiece and fitting end to the series. Well done Kyoto Animation.
I'm not even half way in the video and I'm already tearing up
It's one of those series that I'm happy and sad that it's ending. Violet and Gilbert deserve the best
when is the movie released? and where is Gilbert for God's sake
(btw I watched the beginning of your Video a few hours ago and finished it now after watching the movie a few minutes ago and am typing with swollen eyes and a lot of tissues next to me and with my bad english...sry for that)
Nevertheless, I just wanted to say how I absolutely love this movie. I am definitely going to read the novels as well one day.
I‘ll take my leave now and thank you for reminding me to watch this and the great video overall (sry for being cheesy)
Have a nice day/night!
Man, I'm already crying. 😭😭
Thanks for the review. Who knows if I'll ever watch it.
been waiting for a year to watch it's En subed and oh boy its painful to say goodbye to the girl.
The spoiler made me feel like crying already. I could feel the frustration there. I want to see it so bad😭
It optional yet it one of the side-quest that us human can't seem to ignore. Many has completed or think they has completed the quest and many still trying to figure it out... this is why we love this story so much. Because many of us still don't know what love is.
