      agree, I find myself in the same situation, but after a lot of research, found out that Dell S2719DGF to be the sweet spot or best-buy (even though it's TN panel) or S2721DGF with IPS panel if you have more money . Haven't buyed it yet, I hope it will be available on Black Friday in my country. From my experience, Dell has a lot of advantages and good quality control over other competitors, even though the prices are a bit higher.

      @@demoxcro786 All IPS panels have poor black level, black always looks gray if your ambient light level in the room is fairly dim. I've tried LG GN850 (1440p) and GN950 (4K). Sent them both back because they can't produce proper blacks and have horrible IPS glow. The best 27" I found is Samsung G7, but it has an extremely curved screen which is fine for games, but annoying when on the Windows desktop. I'm now looking at the high end FALD models from Asus and Acer, but they have a noisy cooling fan right at the ear level. There really isn't one monitor that does it all until we start getting OLED monitors at smaller sizes.

    • @MisterTonyG
      @MisterTonyG 3 года назад +3

      I wound up getting the HP Omen 27i which uses the same panel as the LG 27GL850. It's a big upgrade over my decade old 19 inch 900p TN panel at 60 hertz.
      I've been using it for the past week and the colors are a lot more vibrant and my game play is buttery smooth with g-sync. Best Buy gave me an extra 10% off for my birthday discount. I know Black Friday is coming up, but I didn't want to deal with unpredictable stock and my job prevents me from being online during the correct hours when it kicks off. After all, time is money.

    I bought this monitor a few months ago and it’s been great so far no issue and the colour looks great, I can’t notice an screen ghosting or anything like that. At the price I paid for it it was overpriced but it’s gone down now in Australia and it’s an easy recommendation. I small problem which isn’t really a problem but it’s that the small light in the corner of the monitor flashes when your pc has been of for a bit and it goes into sleep mode which is super annoying because I have the pc in my room and I’ll have to get up when I realise the light on. I’ve been using it with a 1080ti but soon a 3080

    All the ghosting stuff, and with 'overdrive' basically being crap at different refresh rates, just kills my interest.
    Manufacturers need to get their shit together, nobody is going to be changing overdrive modes game to game, that's just not happening. Make something that works across the whole range from demanding AAA titles that can barely hit 60fps on ultra settings to indie games that can run at monitor maximums no matter the settings. Any sort of ghosting is a complete dealbreaker and an automatic return.

    Thanks for the review! These monitors are now being sold-off for around $360 AUD and are one of the few still left in stock.
    I appreciate the in-depth review but as someone who works casually in IT Sales (mostly the Infrastructure side of things) I think your price comparison at the end was unfair against the fixed stand monitor. I know even with bog standard business panel monitors that an adjustable stand/base and tilt add at least $30 AUD to price tag usually $50. However nice you pointed out it is a bit of a clunker of a stand too for people interested in that side of things.
    Yes not everyone cares about an adjustable stand but in Office Settings with someone who does casual multi-media this could be a decent monitor for them (especially with a penny pinching CFO).

    So, I've had my G27QC for only a couple of hours, but I'm liking it. HU's price comparison is WAY out of date since I usually see AOC's monitor in mid-300s on Amazon, while Gigabyte hovers at 300-320, making it the lower price. And for Black Friday, I nabbed mine for $260. I'm not sure how noticeable the ghosting is to non-professionals since it hasn't been an issue for me, maybe it's just a bigger deal for people who are used to looking at high-end monitors. I was not particularly confident in AOC's weak backlight and longer input lag, anyway.
    I think Gigabyte spruced up their firmware/defaults over time, as besides color temperature (which HU's recommendations did improve) and brightness (personal preference that varies based upon room lighting; 49 is WAY too low for me since I work under fluorescent lights) basically every other setting was defaulted anyway.
    That having been said, while I love the hardware of the G27QC, the OSD Sidekick software frequently refuses to work (yes, the USB is connected), so get used to that joystick control. The installer isn't well designed either, as it works COMPLETELY in the background with no visible status and also includes some RGB program I didn't want.

    What's the differences between the G27QC and the G27Q? I went from a VA 24" 1080p 144hz curved 1ms monitor, to the G27Q which is a 27" 1440p 165hz (I think 4ms) IPS flat panel, and I cant say that ghosting is hugely noticeable. Maybe it's just because I've only owned these 2 monitors when it comes to a PC display, but it seems like an upgrade in every way from the 1080p panel I was using. I would love to know how to properly calibrate a monitor though, but I could likely do that on my own if I just tried.

    I have this display and it’s actually amazing. I don’t agreed with the same calibrated settings. And at least in my display I haven’t seen any ghosting or bleeding. It just looks amazing. Honestly as good as my Samsung 4K Series 8000 TV. About HDR ready it’s not quite good on PC but on the PlayStation Pro it just looks amazing! I play Destiny 2 on PC and PS4 Pro and the PlayStation can manage HDR great; not so great on PC. Also on PS4 it detects the display as a 4K. Destiny looks amazing on PS4 and other games as well. If I compare this PQ with my older Samsung 32” CF391 in which I thought it was great then this Gigabyte it’s 10 times better! Refresh rate on PC it’s amazing too. I have a 3700X CPU with a 5600XT video card. Lots of improvements from my older display. Another interesting fact it’s that most 1440P displays tends to distortion the image if you play at 1080p games on PC. Well on this display it does not happens. Games looks as it should be at 1080p with no distortion and very clear. Under 1440P looks better and colors are honestly amazing!

    Rtings reviewed both this and the 32 inch model as well and they got completely different results regarding response times. Rtings recommends the balanced mode for the G32QC, and the speed mode for the G27QC, with similar response times for both at these settings. But in this review, the response times for the G27QC are twice as fast at those settings 8:00 what's up with that?

    Im currently have a G27QC, and honestly its not that good for gaming specifically. I switched from a 1080p 165hz AG32C, to this and immediately noticed a significant amount of smearing/ghosting. For your average singlerplayer gaming/movie and video watching this is actually perfect but if you even slightly care about performance in fps you will 100% notice. (good thing memory express has a great return policy for monitors, you can try them for 2 weeks and return them if you dont like em)

    • @Version-ru1mj
      @Version-ru1mj 2 года назад

      Did you try to turn on overdrive to balanced? That made a huge difference for me and many other people in tech forums. Literally the ghosting is so minimal I don't even see it. Also, it depends on what monitor you buy. I had a asus tuf vg32vq with literally 0 ghosting and some dark smearing. It was pretty close to a odyssey g7 performance. The other best VA panel monitor is the dell s2722dgm. Again, very good for fps games. I can vouch for these 3 VA monitors all together. I am immo 1 in Valorant and a senior software developer. My company and I found out that IPS monitors are causing way more eye strain than VA so we switched our monitors over. There is no more eyestrain or headache issues. Many other people claim the same online on reddit or other tech forums. You should check them out. VA panels are changing in a rapid speed. 3 years ago they were trash. But now? We can see some pretty good contenders. Honestly, there are gaming IPS monitors with even 15ms. Compared to these 6-8ms VA panel monitors where the ghosting and smearing is decreased with each model. That's pretty damn good son!
