  • Join an insightful discussion between Andrew Holecek and Ken Wilber on integrating spirituality, science, and human development. They discussed Wilber's new book "Finding Radical Wholeness" and how it provides a comprehensive overview of waking up, growing up, opening up, cleaning up, and showing up as vectors of transformation. A major topic was distinguishing between waking up experiences and growing up stages, as well as clarifying the pre-trans fallacy around interpreting early fusion states as enlightenment. They also dialogued around expanding notions of matter and consciousness, with Wilber arguing that interiority exists at all scales from quarks to humans. Overall, the discussion provided valuable insights into integral theory, stages of human development, and how to apply these concepts through integral life practice to facilitate personal and social evolution.

That's a good point about the pre/trans fallacy! A surface interpretation of the Bible can lead to that. With a more esoteric interpretation of the Bible the fall as I see it was a necessary step for humanity to go from undifferentiated oneness (much like an infant) to a state of sin as in separation for the purpose of the development of unique and sovereign individuals. The next step is not back to the garden of Eden but to paradise where the individual is transcended and included.

If I'm not mistaken Ken was saying something about Ultimate reality NOT being Ineffable that people only say that when they haven't gotten it... this writing from Anam Thubten seems to contradict that..
"Yet there are no assertions that truly capture the ineffability of the ultimate truth. It is impossible to find the perfect word or concept that can describe zhi. The only way we can be awakened to zhi is by leaving the thinking mind - the intellect - behind and using a non-conceptual state of consciousness Here, this verse says even Buddha's tongue has a hard time expressing it. This is a kind of humorous but shocking statement. Often in the minds of Buddhists, buddhas are awakened, have extraordinary wisdom, and are able to express the ultimate truth. They are like divine experts on ultimate truth. It would be like saying Einstein has trouble describing the theory of relativity. However, the ultimate truth is beyond words, such that even Buddha cannot express it."
Or as the spiritual teacher Anthony De Mello used to say "What is ultimate in the human knowledge of God - to know that we do not know God."
What are your thoughts on this Andrew?

One of the greatest minds of our time??? How far the bar has fallen. His “hair” suggests a deep narcissism … and inability to live with how he has arrived on the planet in this incarnation. The level of fawning is incomprehensible and uncomfortable

The real question is: is he consciously playing with this seeming personae via the wig? I mean it's even hanging over his left eye. Quite peculiar. Not quite sure I'd jump to the conclusion that it's narcissistic

I do get it re the wig peculiar thing
I know his take at the begging of wig was he’d shaven since late 20s as part of Buddhist path.
And at that age now fancied a new look.
I would say it’s faintly like a zen teacher buying an Austin powers type suit on occasion

I remember just after trump 2016 Ken wrote his post truth article…then done a couple of interviews.
He did have a couple of almost Pro Trump parts about evolutionary potent aspects to it all etc.
Then he said in 2020 (almost as if it was a one off) that ‘we will have to ditch fossil fuels immediately.
I mean….there’s no shame in never leaving your loft but cmon……lol

Isn't Wilber promoting transhumanism and ahrimanic merging of man and machine?
Also, would anyone disagree he turned rather 'woke' the last two decades and by that lost a significant amount of support by those who didn't swallow that bait?
