  • I was targeting kings on this outing, instead the sharks were there in numbers. Dusky whaler sharks pull hard, great eating when there smaller up to about 1.5m and are in good numbers up and down the coast. In Sydney Australia the peak times are between November to late May. #shark #rockfishing #feelalive

    Great bit of action there, Alex. It all adds up - fading light, overcast conditions and hungry predators on the chew!

      That's exactly right mate. Low light period or at night the sharks are in the chew. Thanks for watching again mate 😎👍

    Mulloway hotspots always produce whalers as bycatch and small whalers are absolutely delicious to eat. Only keep the little sharks though - that last one was a perfect keeper size. Whalers are superb sport and if you bleed them as soon as you land them - and get them straight on ice - they are sensational. Better still, they freeze well, keep for many months and are just as good to eat once thawed. Fillet them, skin the fillet so it's just pure, boneless meat and try not to wash the fillets for best results. (You don't wash your steak - don't wash the fish fillets either).

      Hi Rosario
      May do a Bait presentation in the future.
      Boots are steel spike adrenaline brand low or high cut. Alternatively snow spikes are popular as well.

    Hey Alex, off topic a bit but what is the actual name of the dog shark? Been catching them for years and always wondered what they actually were.

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  Год назад +1

      Hey Adam
      There called Blind Shark but are also known as dog shark as well. Matter of fact there not blind at all their eyes are in a slit shape enabling them to forage for food in really tight weedy/rocky areas. Cheers

    Tip for anyone chasing Jews off the northern beaches…..
    Fishing into the night from dusk, if the Bronze Whalers are thick, just use pilchards on cheap gang hooks.
    Once the Sharks disappear, break out the yellowtail fillets or whole Squid….
    Its Jewie time.
