@@wriri well, from what i’ve understood, he didn’t fail at reviving her. to be exact, he changed the past and it created a separate timeline. nothing was affected to the people in the present. if you’ve fought Otto with Bianka and Kiana, he says to them something along the lines of him needing an outer power to get away from the “responsibility” of the Imaginary Tree and that indirectly, Bianka and Kiana gave that outer power for Otto to become free from the Tree and achieve his real goal, which is to save the Kallen in the past. i may or may not be wrong so if someone knows better, feel free to correct me. but yeah, that’s what i’ve understood

Well, it's not so surprising. People who rush in to "sacrifice themselves" usually don't think too much. What about people who care about you? What about all the good you could keep doing if you were alive? I mean, yeah sure, sometimes the situation calls for extreme measures, but generally it's a much better idea to think twice before playing hero.

This was the journey of a very sad, sad old man. That went against the entire world. To a Hero they would sacrifice one to save many... But to a Villain they sacrifice everything to save just one. Otto was tragic and well-written character. For others he might be a SIMP that couldn't let go. But I see a MAN atoning for a mistake he never intended. Saving a person that was his only light in life. In the end... He managed to do it. He had the last laugh! He might be not worthy of forgiveness but he is worthy of RESPECT. If I have a bottle of wine beside me. I would pour one in a glass, not to celebrate but to leave one to you Otto. I like how they did 2d animation kallen's part and 3d animation for Otto to show that they are in truly different dimensions. It also indicates which one is the past(2d) and which one is the present(3d) and, there's the future which is the mix of both.
the most detailed thing about this exact part is also that the moment otto breaks "into" the past to save kallen, he himself is turned 2D to show that he is now part of that timeline instead of his old one.

One of the best parts is that you can unabashedly root for Otto in this. You want to believe that all the sins he's stained his hands with, all of the betrayals, manipulations... it can't have been for nothing. Thus, when he struggles in this, when he falls, you genuinely want him to get back up, to _win._ Otto willingly chose to play the villain, all for this one moment. He doesn't look to be forgiven, nor does he expect it. No matter what he has to do, it is enough. He's such a brilliantly written character, and it all culminates here. Safe to say, Honkai Impact's story is gonna feel a whole lot emptier without him.

Truly... One of the best written character of Honkai impact. The amount of Complex feelings I have for Otto after act 3 is.. I can't even explain it. Good bye Otto apocalypse you were a really good villain. I don't forgive you for the crimes you did, but I do respect you for what you did for Kallen even though she probably didn't wanted this and giving the Kiana and the others the chance to win against the Honkai.
Don't want this, maybe, but when it really happens to her, I am sure the new world Kallen in Act4 will not want to kill herself anymore. She loves Otto more than the world not means she ignores his heart. They are both weak in different ways hundreds of years ago. The cost its too heavy no matter Otto is good or evil. She must live a bright better life and become her time's new hero.

I remember when I started my journey with Honkai, I wasn't a fan of this character. At first I thought he will come out as somewhat quirky villain, but nothing really special. Back then, at the very beginning, I didn't know how emotional I would get over him. Talking with friend I used to joke about how I "hated" this man. I wasn't that serious, he was a neutral character for me... man, how wrong I was back in the day. His self-awareness made me realize how good-written he was, whole this time. I'm not about to say that he was the hero of the story. He never was supposed to be one. He did loads of very, very horrible things and yet...he became one of my forever-favourite characters in this story. I'll miss you, Otto. Thank you, miHoYo, for such a great character, and the voice actors for amazing job over these years.
For me, the beauty in Otto's story lies in knowing how it feels to love someone as deeply as he did Kallen. The lengths you would go... The sacrifices you would make... The evil you would become... The mountains you would move... His was a journey of determination beyond what most would know. All for the sake of giving the love of his life her fair chance to live. The very same chance she gave to him. As unforgivable as his actions were to achieve this... It will never take away how human his desire was. Something we all have felt, or will at some point... I despise what he allowed himself to become, but I don't hate him for it... If anything, I always understood him, and could at the very least respect him for seeing it through to the end. Hands down, some of the best writing in gaming this generation... And from a waifu collector lul
4:52 I never thought that that scene from Second Eruption of Sirin explaining how even if she recreates her mother with her DNA, it wouldn't be her Mom due to the body not having the correct soul, would actually teach Otto that no matter how perfect the clone he makes it can never be "Kallen" due to it not having her soul... Mihoyo really uses every little detail from the Mangas to give more detail to the Game's story...
Honestly, I have a sneaking suspicion that Sirin just didn’t know how to locate her mother’s soul at the time. I mean Otto was able to revive Sirin. What if the imaginary tree was set up so that Kallen had to die in every time line to turn Otto mad. While we see him as a villain his actions have a huge net positive. He never directly tries to revive someone else. What if he could but he just couldn’t revive Kallen. So as to drive him to carry the world to the point where it didn’t need him no more? What if the most heroic thing Kallen did in her life was to die so her follower would become the villainous hero to the timeline.
@@imaidot481 because Sirin's consciousness was stored in her herrscher core. That's why she was able to be "resurrected" as Kiana. Her original body died many years ago but her consciousness was still "alive" in the core.
It also explains even if you do manage to get the perfect body and the correct soul, you still can't bring a person back to life because they don't have the same mind

Otto may not have lived a good life, but in his final moments he shone so brigtly just to light a path for his beloved. Mad respect for Otto for actually outplaying all the cast and God itself just so Kallen would live. I don't want to admit it, but he's probably now one of the coolest characters in the game for me
This bastard is who I would call the villain that did the most evil in hoyoverse, and yet I can't help but respect him. Obsession and love are both understatements of what he has for Kallen. He doesn't even care that Kallen doesn't love him back, he just wants Kallen to live. To have a chance. Other simps WISH they can be as much of a simp as Otto. And he suceeded. He actually tampered with the imaginary tree, and won. I don't think anyone else has ever done that. Well done, you psychotic fucker, Kallen survived in this new timeline.
You're a real one if you understood him before or without experiencing it yourself. When it does happen... it hits just as strong, no less no more, alongside the old damages.
If you haven't noticed it already: Otto and every scene in the Imaginary Space is depicted in 3D, while every scene within the Imaginary Tree is depicted in 2D (with the exception of Otto when he saved Kallen) It's very fitting considering that Imaginary Space is a higher dimension/reality. Mihoyo artists are genuises.
the one thing i can agree with him is 1 thing. Heroes don't get the ending they deserve and they sometimes gets punished for doing the right thing. Kallen dedicating her life for Schicksals only for her to be hanged because of she can't stand how Schicksal is starting to become a tyrany has the same vibe as how Jeanne fought for France in the 100 year War only to be burned as a public display disregarding all of what she has done to France. One of the best parts is that you can unabashedly root for Otto in this.
You want to believe that all the sins he's stained his hands with, all of the betrayals, manipulations... it can't have been for nothing.
Thus, when he struggles in this, when he falls, you genuinely want him to get back up, to _win._
Otto willingly chose to play the villain, all for this one moment. He doesn't look to be forgiven, nor does he expect it. No matter what he has to do, it is enough.
He's such a brilliantly written character, and it all culminates here.
Safe to say, Honkai Impact's story is gonna feel a whole lot emptier without him.

Truly... One of the best written character of Honkai impact. The amount of Complex feelings I have for Otto after act 3 is.. I can't even explain it. Good bye Otto apocalypse you were a really good villain. I don't forgive you for the crimes you did, but I do respect you for what you did for Kallen even though she probably didn't wanted this and giving the Kiana and the others the chance to win against the Honkai.
Don't want this, maybe, but when it really happens to her, I am sure the new world Kallen in Act4 will not want to kill herself anymore. She loves Otto more than the world not means she ignores his heart. They are both weak in different ways hundreds of years ago.

I remember when I started my journey with Honkai, I wasn't a fan of this character. At first I thought he will come out as somewhat quirky villain, but nothing really special. Back then, at the very beginning, I didn't know how emotional I would get over him. Talking with friend I used to joke about how I "hated" this man. I wasn't that serious, he was a neutral character for me... man, how wrong I was back in the day. His self-awareness made me realize how good-written he was, whole this time. I'm not about to say that he was the hero of the story. He never was supposed to be one. He did loads of very, very horrible things and yet...he became one of my forever-favourite characters in this story. I'll miss you, Otto.

For me, the beauty in Otto's story lies in knowing how it feels to love someone as deeply as he did Kallen. The lengths you would go... The sacrifices you would make... The evil you would become... The mountains you would move...
His was a journey of determination beyond what most would know. All for the sake of giving the love of his life her fair chance to live. The very same chance she gave to him.
As unforgivable as his actions were to achieve this... It will never take away how human his desire was.

4:52 I never thought that that scene from Second Eruption of Sirin explaining how even if she recreates her mother with her DNA, it wouldn't be her Mom due to the body not having the correct soul, would actually teach Otto that no matter how perfect the clone he makes it can never be "Kallen" due to it not having her soul... Mihoyo really uses every little detail from the Mangas to give more detail to the Game's story...

Honestly, I have a sneaking suspicion that Sirin just didn’t know how to locate her mother’s soul at the time. I mean Otto was able to revive Sirin. What if the imaginary tree was set up so that Kallen had to die in every time line to turn Otto mad. While we see him as a villain his actions have a huge net positive. He never directly tries to revive someone else. What if he could but he just couldn’t revive Kallen. So as to drive him to carry the world to the point where it didn’t need him no more? What if the most heroic thing Kallen did in her life was to die so her follower would become the villainous hero to the timeline.
@@imaidot481 because Sirin's consciousness was stored in her herrscher core. That's why she was able to be "resurrected" as Kiana. Her original body died many years ago but her consciousness was still "alive" in the core.

Otto may not have lived a good life, but in his final moments he shone so brigtly just to light a path for his beloved. Mad respect for Otto for actually outplaying all the cast and God itself just so Kallen would live. I don't want to admit it, but he's probably now one of the coolest characters in the game for me
