Since this is Otto's final departure, i want to give him a proper closure and tribute by clearing some misconceptions. Theres quite a number of people out there that thinks hes doing all these just for Kallen's "love". Thats just not right. It started as a meme but people joined the bandwagon without context and took it seriously, spreading it like wildfire. In order to understand his motive, u have to put urself in his shoes and look at his past. This animation becomes way more emotional and meaningful if u truly understand him. Otto was bornt and expected to be the next heir of the Apocalypse family. However, the heir was handed over to his brother cuz he was physically weak and naive as a child. Instead of exhibiting characteristics of a noble warrior and leader, he wanted to be an inventor but nobody believed in him. As an Apocalypse, he was a disgrace to the family and shunned. One day, while he was being shunned by his older brother, a girl named Kallen from the Kaslana family, helped him and believed that he would become a great inventor in the future. She was the only one who believed in him. They talked and quickly became friends. They spent a lot of time together as they grow older. Otto gained self-confidence that he isnt useless and unwanted by being around her. He even proved that he was a great inventor by inventing a cure for the Black Death disease that was running rampant in his time. This leads to him gaining the trust and respect from the public. Some times later, he gave a present to Kallen as a token of gratitude, the Sixth Serenade. Otto really admired Kallen as his saviour. Without her, he wouldnt be where he is at now. To him, the world was a cruel place and humanity are of barbaric species but Kallen was the beacon of hope for humanity. Heroic and caring, throwing herself head first into saving people. If only humanity could be similar to Kallen he thought. Gradually, the Schicksal government eventually become corrupted, Kallen along with Otto helped the common folks by stealing from the rich and distributing it to them. The government also waged war against other nation to gain more power even when under the crisis of Honkai. Seeing this, Kallen and Otto planned a rebellion against the current government. During a battle against the other nation, Otto accompanied Kallen, who was a front-liner, as a medic despite Kallen's concerns over his health. He didnt want to seat back as a spectator and wanted to be of help. Unfortunately, they lost the battle and retreated. Years later, the Schicksal government, under Otto's father guidance, declared that Kallen to be executed publicly due to treason. Otto was confused and begged his father if there was another way. His father told him that he would let her go if she promised to marry Otto and become an Apocalypse. This will make them gain control over the House of Kaslanas who was gaining more power than them. Otto was shocked since it was his dream but was hesitant since its not truly love. However, her safety takes priority first. When Otto told Kallen, who was in a cell, the proposal, she refused since the Kaslanas should uphold their oath and save people. Instead, she wanted to have one last drink. Otto, not accepting Kallen's injustice execution, made a deal with his sister, Risa Schariac, to free Kallen during the execution. His sister accepted the deal under the agreement that Otto will get his hands dirty as an Apocalypse who had always seat at the sidelines. During the day of the execution, Otto released Honkai Beasts into the town which distracted the guards. He freed Kallen but was slapped by her as he endangered the townspeople. She then went into town, saving them but ended up getting killed in doing so. Because of Otto and his family's doings, Kallen ended up getting killed. He felt guilty and devoted his life to find a way to revive Kallen for her to live once again without worries. He thought to himself that its natural to give his life for hers as she was the one who saved his. He purposely played as a "villain" role cuz a villain is the only way a world can truly change from his perspective. This perspective came to be due to the "evil" world taking the only "hero" which was Kallen away from the world, unfair and injustice. He then rebelled the Schicksal government along with the people that believed in the Holy Maiden and eventually took over as the Overseer. He lost a lot of people he held dearly in the rebellion, namely the children in the orphanage like Voila. However, he became the very thing he swore to destroy. Under his rule, he uphold Schicksal under corruption for his goal. His obsession got over him. During 2nd Eruption when he met WoH, Otto wanted to strike a deal but WoH didnt deemed him as worthy and basically took a form of Otto and stabbed itself. Over the timeframe of what Otto did, WoH finally deemed him as worthy and accept the deal with Otto to help him with the connection to Imaginary Tree in chapter 25-Ex. His sole dedication lead him from a frail young boy to what he is capable of now. He went from a hero to a "villain". He did what others couldnt. He walked on a thorny path of no return and made a deal with God itself, WoH and Void Archives. He did all these without expecting anything in return. Just like everyone else in the honkaiverse, hes part of the tragedy the world inflicted upon. Thats why i like him as a character narratively but hate/pity him as a character in the honkai universe. He represents the humans' obsession and the inability to let go. He truly embodies the quote, "U either died a hero or live long enough to see urself become a villain". "When the world's demise is nigh, strong desires and obsessions can make one go further. Like everyone else, I too have obsessions." - Su, the 7th Flamechaser. Farewell, Otto Apocalypse. Next, Void Archives in APHO and Kevin Kaslana in WS.
"A hero would sacrifice you to save the world, but a villain would sacrifice the world to save you" I salute to you, Great inventor, not because of your actions, but because of your determination.

Its fitting how Otto chooses the Judgment of Shamash as his last weapon. It symbolizes his dedication to sacrifice himself for the one he loves, which is ironically a Kaslana weapon and motif to risk their lives for the ones they love. Its also a weapon notorious for killing its user for the price of its destructive power. Otto knew that this would be his final moment and he defiantly charged forward.
Yeah Kallen’s father also used it to save Kallen’s life before. It’s quite sad that two of the people she loved sacrificed themselves using basically the same weapon. If Kallen is the world then Otto is her Kaslana. Also before I get hate for saying Kallen loved Otto she did love Otto, the letter she left him proves it. Her Great Inventor. It’s so sad that Kallen made Otto promise that he wouldn’t die for her. But Otto spent the next 500 years breaking that promise.
That wasnt an utu tho that was just the cleaver of shamash i dont think void archives can replicate an utu since an utu is the zeroth power of the cleaver but the symbolism u mention still stands.
I find it poetic, how Otto's final moments were utilizing the full power of Judgment of Shamash, a tool he always hated with a passion because of the Kaslana oath to use it to sacrifice themselves, a fate destined for Kallen that he had always fought against with his every breath, and used it to save her and break that cycle of tragedy.
Seriously, what a time to be alive. I have never cried for an antagonist, yet somehow Otto made me, definitely one of the most well written characters. Years later even when the game shut down, I might still be telling my kids about the lore. Great work MihoYo
Same, i never shed any tears in this game other than The Day You Vanish With The Stars, and Himeko's Death short animation. Otto's death is something good, but i can't rejoice, he is just a strong willed person who do anything for his own goal.
Otto’s story is literally, “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain”. Respect to otto and Mihoyo one of the best characters i have ever seen.
Now I see this as this: Himeko's sacrifice is like one for all, herself for Kiana, and for the future of their world and making it a better place, as Kiana would live on carrying her legacy. For Otto, it's for Kallen to live a better life, knowing damn well it will create some problems for the future in their world, but he did it all for her to live fairly, like all for one.
From what I understood he won't create any problem for the future in their world, what he did was break the 4th dimension (time) and create a new branch, meaning, a new timeline where the one and only her is alive and well, after all the imaginary tree, being the source of all life and its universes, being in constant growth, it should be able to create the world Otto wants if he can reach it and manipulate it.
@@N7-Soldier yeah ,its just the process and his own doings that got him to finally succeed making a new branch, all for the person he loves, for her to live a life she deserves, it got me thinking on how it’s all for one, he knew what he did was wrong, he’s fully aware, yet he proceeded forward for a new branch. I pretty much respect him as a great villain troupe that sacrifices all for one person.
@@chlo9123 Actually, there is a reason why he won't just rewind time in that branch (their timeline). Because as otto mentioned, a vessel couldn't gather a mind (soul) that already gone. So, even if he rewind the time, the 'world' wouldn't allow that. For reference, zhunge kongmimg story. So instead, he create an 'empty' branch then comeback to the time where kallen soul still in her body and then save her. With this method, he rerouted the flowing of time to the new branch thus creating a new timeline. Pretty much otto yeeted kallen to new timeline.
@@jennyann2748 He kinda did, since he put her on a pedestal, and even Kallen herself didn't want Otto to do that, and doesn't see herself worthy for his praise and obsession.

Yeap Zhao Lu 赵路. He is a constant figure in otome such as Mhy own tot as Artem, and an impressive resume as many characters. Apparently he mentioned he do want to have more villain roles but most roles he received is otome (do note that he is excellent as otome male lead too). (Not so) fun fact: The two bright stars at 8:18 are likely Altair and Vega, one brightest star in aquilla and another the second brightest star in northern hemisphere. In chinese folk lore, Altair is known as "niu lang"(cow-herd), and Vega as "zhi nu"(weaver-girl). "zhi nu" is the daughter of the jade emperor, king of gods, who lead a boring life of weaving night afterglow in heaven. She grew bored of this life, and one day snuck out of the heaven. During her time in mortal realm, she came to love the ordianry farmer, niu lang, and married each other. The jade emperor found out and was furious, condemning both to become stars in the night sky, seperated by the milky way so they can only met each other once per year. Here mihoyo is likely using this reference to ackowledge the relationship between Otto and Kallen, yearn but never meet.
Although I am not a fan of stargazing, I am not sure whether 8:18 is true or not. However, the story of Cowherd and Weaver Girl is widely circulated among Chinese. Hope someone can give a more detailed answer, please
You might hate him or not, but you guys cannot deny, Otto is a man of focus, commitment, sheer freaking will, and on top of that, his eternal love to Kallen is undeniable. Mad respect, Otto Apocalypse!
Is Otto's desire finally fulfilled? Yes. Was he able to see Kallen one last time? Probably. Does Kallen knew he 'saved' her? No. Did he die? Most likely. If they ever meet and circumstances were known, he would only receive disdain and utter hate from her but this he understand. The moment that he started his 'journey' of 'saving' her, he never once hesitated. He knew that when he made 'that' mistake, he lose the right to become happy and yet he never grieved. He immediately set out to find a way to correct such mistake but unfortunately only by pilling more of it was what he can see. Such is not a tale of love but of a man blindly seeking the only "right" thing that he believed to exist in his world. The "Apocalypse's" crest became the sorry existence for this tragic dream.

3:30 Judahbeing used by Otto felt so refreshing and cool, He didn’t see himself as a savior/Hero but as a villain that can only create destruction but was willing to use that destruction to destroy evil. 7:43 And the moment that was shown in chronicles of Theresa fighting the other Theresa , showing how he started to change a bit of how he wanted to create a vessel for Kallen, eventually to a Grandpa who wanted to spoil his granddaughter forever (Giving her allowance, and when she is going to cook and fell asleep, He cooked for her while she is asleep, telling her that when you prepare the right ingredient the nice cooking fairy will cook you the best foods forever, when this happened in the Chinese New Year event, he even asked if Theresa could have a win from his food, Though it tasted the best, it couldn’t happen since it wasn’t cooked by Theresa, He still cared about her asking not just once twice at least). Applying her for the idol contest, saying she will definitely win since she is the cutest Girl in the world, and even with the rules of her being too old, she will win with a landslide.
This also act as biblical reference of Otto carrying the cross of his sins unders his shoulders, and as well symbolizing his treacherous yet sacrificial nature towards his mission on saving Kallen --- the one who was killed unfairly.

@olivia same to me this is him trying now to rectify his mistakes he made in the past and to redeem himself for his recent actions, in chapter 28 he made it sound like that the imaginary tree was just using him, that he was just as much a victim as everyone else. which means that otto was not necessarily himself throughout the story but being manipulated and controlled by this tree, if it means dying to give Kallen her happy ending then he will do so or at least from what i seen so far

@@dratinibrah Well, she kind-of refused to marry Otto, and that's basically it. Either she gets hanged, or marries into the Apocalypse family. The Apocalypse elders only want her to marry into the family because she can be better controlled if she did. Otto wanted to marry her because it would ensure that she'd live. Kallen refused because it would mean that she'd be submitting to the people she was trying to defy.
The ending with young Otto and young Kallen leaning on a tree while holding hands with those lyrics was what did it for me. "Just a drop of water suffices" Its like Otto is finally content with accomplishing at least one thing right in his life. And its a thing he truly desires the most. Even if its just the tiniest bit of assurance, for him its worth it.
From "Will of the Herrscher" till "Thus Spoke Apocalypse" such an amazing story, Honkai impact bring us "captain" unforgettable experience, we are proud to be part of this journey, thank you Mihoyo... 🙏 Can't wait for the next story
I hate Otto, but I just realized one thing. His goal was to save humanity, and Kallen was the pure, perfect, beautiful embodiment of it. He caused a lot of deaths, destruction and suffering, but in his eyes, he never harmed the humanity, because it was not there anymore... it was gone with her. And I think that is why I need to chase away those onion cutting ninjas again.
"Every night brings a dream but the day, relentlessly, keeps me awake." Honkai is so imaginative, yet resonates with many because of its profoundly human story. As a captain with over 1200 days on Hyperion, thank you to everyone delivering this powerful experience.
They took some elements of Everlasting flames, Cyberangel and Final Lesson, arguably the most beloved shorts in the entire series, and woven them into this one... Except this time the main character is the villain (maybe anti-hero would be a better way to call him after this short). I love the way they directed the fight scene in a way that heavily resembles Everlasting Flames, it creates this sort of unconscious contradiction that makes you think "I should not feel pity or sadness for this man, why am I almost crying?". It really highlights that after all, Otto is also fighting for what is beautiful in the world, except in his case the only thing worth fighting for is Kallen. Absolutely masterful execution, genius direction, and as always a fantastic musical score to tie everything together. Ten out of ten Mihoyo, one hundred percent deserved.
Kallen is his only light in this world and what I love about his character is that it reflects Kiana's. She fights for the beauty in the world while Otto fights because without Kallen there is no beauty In the world. So regaining lost beauty.
The relationship of Otto and Kallen slightly reminds me of Gilles de Rais and Jeanne d'Arc. The holy knight who was discarded by the world, and the person beside her becoming insane, hating the world for what they had done to her.
The recollection of Otto's life and deeds at the last part just show that after all, Otto's still a human. A human with sheer will to save the one that gave meaning to his life. I hate Otto to the core for what he's done but still I can't deny it at the end, he just a dude tried to save the one he love. He even dare to make a deal with the devil and defy God for that.

@@RA-ux3fu I seriously think it makes no sense for Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact to have such big gaps in storytelling. The qualification you need to have to understand the lore of each are vastly different. Genshin Impact: You have to have finished Elementary School to understand it. Honkai Impact: You have to have a PhD in Physics and Philosophy. Most of the time I have not idea what is happening, then you have Tesla and Einstein droppping some whole paragraphs about their theories and I am there right: ''Oh yeah.... words!''
What he feels for Kallen isn't something something as cliche and simple as love, she was his light, hope and savior, that's why i respect him for it, he's truly the most perfect villain, we hated him with passion for everything he did...for everyone he hurt and were pleased with his downfall, He's just the perfect representation of a person's desires and how far one is willing to go. Just how i hated him and felt disgust with every action he makes. every story needs a villain and he was just the right person. Goodbye Otto. Forever.
Late but the better term for him would be an anti-villain: he has all the characteristics of a noble hero towards his goal of saving Kallen, but the methods and acts of a villain.
While I do agree love is beyond what Otto feels for Kallen, you'd be surprised what people can do for and/or in the name of love, both in fiction and real world.
I keep forgetting that this a game, and not an anime or movie. This much dedication goes into a game, that too one that was originally a mobile game. Otto is a very well written villain. He represents human desires that are too selfish to be suppressed very well. There is a lot of realism in his character. I only admire his dedication towards Kallen, who he believed was generically wronged by the world and deserved and ending where she could continue to do what she enjoyed. But then there's all the other very messed up shit he's done, he might have a strong will but his obsession with delivering "justice" satisfied him in the end, but the process arguably did more harm than good for the others around him. Eitherway, it is a fitting end for his character.
From the start, years ago, standing on Hyperion's bridge, I never really find myself hating the overseer, in this matter, Otto Apocalypse. I found him as a man who had his goals, knew every little step he would take. He did wrong things, he did stuff we found evil. I'm not here to defend him, but to commend him for his dedication. Getting Sixth Serenade as my first S rank valkyrie, growing and fighting the Honkai with her, knowing she died in the past, hahah... at some point, I can't lie and say I didn't want to see Otto succeed with his plan reviving her. And he did. Today. He didn't lie when he said nothing will change with the outside world. He revived the woman he loved the most, not for living his dream marrying her, but to give her the future he believed she deserved. He sacrificed himself doing so. I found that very selfless of him, yet at the same time, that is the most selfish thing one can do. :) I'm looking forward for what is next to come.
I met Otto in the manga before I even met him in game and knew his backstory before I even knew Kiana's backstory so upon knowing his motivations, I couldnt bring myself to hate him even with what he has done. His actions are not justifiable but I have sympathy more than hate for him. He really is a well-written character and I was really rooting for him to succeed. I'm glad he managed to succeed in saving Kallen though it may be another worldline. I'm also excited of what's to come next.
Otto is literally the embodiment of the second part of the quote: "A hero would sacrifice you to save the world but a villain would sacrifice the world to save you."
@@maosama3695 yeah Kevin is more similiar to Kiritsugu, sacrifice few to same many. While Otto is more closer to Miyuverse Shirou, sacrifice the world and became a "villain" to save the one he cared the most. They are basically the opposite of each other.
"Once their soul dissipates, one cannot be brought back to life. The world allows the mind to find another matching vessel, but does not allow the vessel to gather pieces of a mind." While I'm sure Theresa herself would be heartbroken, damn...I couldn't help but imagine the part of Theresa which was Kallen crying out for Otto to stop. It truly was "the most selfish thing one could do."
DAMN YOU MIHOYO FOR GIVING ME GOOSEBUMPS AND TEARS AGAIN!! Seriously tho, huge respect for Otto for his dedication, even though I still won't forgive him for many things he has done. All his plans until his death always succeed, he is no doubt a determined genius. Now the question is, based on this animation, will Kallen be back to the main story? Will she get a new battlesuit? Will she be a Herrscher?
I believe Otto wishes her a best life which shouldn't lead to another 500 years of dedication. It'd be disappointing to see her appearing in the main story in present times. Respect a man's dying wishes. That said, it wouldn't be a suprise if we see a new Kallen playable character. She will still continue to devote herself into fighting Honkai after being saved.
A huge 'Press F to pay respects' to one of the greatest antagonists of all time (imho), one who went against the Imaginary Tree as well as the protagonist crew, and fulfilled his lifelong desire of rewriting the possibilities if the past to save Kallen, against all odds. Requiescat in Pace, Otto Apocalypse. You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain, but you have become both at the same time, you madlad.
In my opinion, there are few villians that are well written like Otto. To save one person, he was ready to kill a lot of others. Even though he understanded it well that those people that he killed are also someone's beloved, just like Kallen to him, he chose to ignore them. Because if not, he would not have enough will to bring back Kallen, he would never be able to save her. I think that's also the reason why he called himself selfish. The reasons behind his action are fitting with his character, an intelligent and strong-will man but selfish. Moreover, the way Mihoyo demonstrates him, his life and his death is absolutely beautiful. I cried listening to his song and seeing his will and action😭😭😭
I only knew about the general plot surrounding Otto and Kallen when I searched him up (courtesy of Kamisato Ayato's VAs), and although I didn't get into Honkai, Otto was definitely my favorite character because there was clearly so much potential in him. Tbh I was quite disappointed when I found out almost every Honkai player hated him. Which is understandable ofc, but I see ppl saying stuff like "Otto simps for Kallen" and mocking him for his one-sided love. I was so confused because even as an outsider, it was clear that Otto's love for Kallen is pure. Like, yes he still loves her, but he also knows that she doesn't love him back that way, and he accepts it. That's just who Otto is. He's very clear about everything that's going on. He knows the consequences of his actions, he knows he's the villain of this story. But despite what was undoubtedly a lonely, despairing journey, he continues to push forward, toward his one and only goal. Putting his all into it, not allowing anything to waver him. And it is that determination, that sheer willpower, that is so stunning and striking, and undoubtedly one of the biggest reasons why he's such an attractive character. I'm glad that now we finally get to see his truest self, the one behind all those sarcastic remarks, and with that we can see how he's just human afterall. There's so many ways we can describe him, yet none can tell the full extent of his beautiful complexity. Just like how a few letters and numbers cannot fully represent ourselves, represent a human. I'm glad that after a long, gruesome 500 years, he's finally achieved his one goal. And he did it without destroying the current Honkai timeline, whilst creating a new timeline where humanity undoubtedly has the highest chances of survival and advancement since he's passed all his knowledge to Kallen. That new timeline will be interesting for sure, with loads of potential in store. Yet, we will never see another Otto Apocalypse ever again. He is now erased from existence as the price he had to pay, one that he was willing to, because he never wanted, never needed anything back if it meant he could save Kallen. I can see how he gets easily misunderstood since he was a big villain in the MC's perspective, but now that we've finally got his own perspective, I hope the fanbase will now try to understand the many facets of this beautiful character. Congratulations to our one and only Otto for doing what was nigh impossible and finally achieving his goal. This story ended in your victory. Rest well now, Otto Apocalypse. 永别了,我的大发明家。
Well, i shed a tears a bit for him i can't deny that, but people Hate him because he killed the Main Characters Friends and families, it's understandable. And even till now the Community still hates his Guts but Love him as a villain and salute to him with the most Respect, he is a really amazing character but Love can't be an excuse for what he did to the innocent people he killed especially the Main Cast's Family and friends. we'll miss him for sure though, Honkai won't be the same without the Iconic Otto Apocalypse.
His love wasn't pure, if he loved her he wouldn't have released those honkai beasts at her hanging, killing innocents. Of course she couldn't run away. And then she died, because of him. Instead of embodying what she believed in, he did the very opposite, spitting upon her ideals and legacy. Such love, such empathy for Kallen, disregarding one of the key aspects of what makes her HER...
@@ArthurianIdeal i would like to disagree a litte bit, yes there are some obsession from Otto. But if you think about it, if you notice they only had each other. After Sir Francis died nobody in their era cares for them anymore. imagine, your love ones were the only person that you can trust not even your family is trusted they're sus asf your sister even killed your father for his throne. It can't be helped that this love turns to Obsession along the way because how Important Kallen was for him, if she dies then this world is not worth living, no matter how pure your love is Human is still Human There is no 100% pure love in Human emotion there is a little of other Elements like Lust, Obsess, and many other, it's just Otto made a mistake, His love blinding his heart, after Kallen Died that's where his Obsession start to Grow massively but it's the obsession to bring her back not to be lovely dovey with her. like his theme song "Everyone has their own desire" even in a pure relationship you have your own selfish desire, what makes him diffrent from any other human who claimed that their love is pure?. Nope nothing he is as selfish as everyone else, but how much you willing to go for that desire is another matter, which makes him respectable imo. But It is all started from Pure Love, a simple desire for love from a small sickly boy he was.
@@moores4415 I get your angle, but I mean to say that his goal of preserving her life has become more important than her. He no longer listens to her, no longer cares what she might think, no longer admires who she is and what she fights for. If that’s the case, why save her life? He’s not so much obsessed with her anymore as he is with fighting her fate. The secondary objective has become primary. And even though “the ends justify the means” is never good, but is great villain material, I believe Otto stopped short of that greatness because it wasn’t love that he was chasing, but rather proving himself right and the world wrong.
Despite what the fandom thinks of Otto, he knows that his one-sided attraction to Kallen will never be requited but he no longer cares about that and is willing to accept hatred and disgust from her as well, all he wants to achieve is to give back her life that was taken away cruelly and he also felt responsible for not being able to stop it so he took it upon himself to bring her back despite the whole world opposing him, the world turned it's back on his one and only best friend who cherised and showed him love that even his family never gave to him. He's a madman and he knows it and has accepted it, all he wants is to make it up to Kallen for not being able to save her when she needed him. So thus is the end of Otto Apocalypse, an amazing antagonist of Honkai Impact.
The fact is that Otto is one of the scariest antagonist for me since he is the most human out of all the characters. He was born ill, he dreams, he loves... He does everything to achieve the goal in his mind even if it means destroying the very essence of why he has done it from the first place. He suffered and endured just like anyone. That is why I think he is much more scarier than other antagonist who are idealistic, since peoplw like Otto are living in all of us. I love this game XD.
@@chassiek3955 Yeah, this is the guy who planned for Kiana to master her HoV powers through the "Power of Friendship". Honestly, I was surprised when I discovered that fact. Few villains directly exploit that attribute to their advantage.
Theres also another scary fact is that he is aware of all his actions and honestly admits that he is a villain to everyone, even himself for all of the actions he has done yet most of all is that even when he is going up against the root of all evil to save the one he cares about he has never, not even once considered himself on being a hero and still maintained as a villain, not for redemption did he fight but he fought against an evil for a single, selfish goal, that is why he is the most dangerous antagonist, someone who is aware of the consequences of all his actions and is not afraid to admit it nor is he willing to regret it as long as he accomplishes his goals, whether it be helping the ones against him subtly to grow stronger or sacrificing anyone all in the name of his goal, and even more so when the moment he has obtained his goal he has not once regretted it even at the cost of his life and has accepted it as long as the goal is finished in the end
Returning to this masterpiece after three weeks to say I am still in love with this cinematic, this world, this game. Otto Apocalypse, wielding the mimicry of the judgement of shamash as his last weapon. How ironic that he ended up following the Kaslana oath better than all. He protected the one he loved at all costs, even from death itself, and never yielded. He ended his own story the way he wanted, and he fought for what he believed to be all that is beautiful in the world. He villainized himself, not only to others, but to himself, making sure to remain grounded, aware of his own evil, but didn't let it stop him. Otto was, tragically, a slave of his own desires, more than any other. And yet, on his goal to accomplishing those desired things he gathered the heroes of the world, raised them, and gave them a purpose, to make sure the world doesn't crumble after his departure, on the contrary, Otto set up the heroes to flourish. None of his rights can EVER justify the wrongs, but all he really wanted, in the end, was his friend back. Did he really have to go so far? Was that really so much to ask for? He traded his life, image, sanity, legacy, and love to accept the malice of the world onto himself. All to close the distance between his love, Kallen, and the tomorrow he'd never reach. The perfect character to save the world, perfectly written... But not a hero.
@@c0rruptedmov Should be, but it's not specified. It's possible that every Otto ever died for that decision. Though yes, I think it's more likely that only our Otto died, and that other Otto ACTUALLY got to be a "Great Inventor"
So when Bianka asked him “What would happen to our world?” If he reversed to the past. He wasn’t lying when he said *”Nothing”* And the price *”doesn’t concern you in anyway”* because it was his price to pay, not theirs.
People hate villains because they see them as evil without feeling like one and I'd say, Otto's probably has the most will out of all villains I've seen so far in my life. Respect for this one
@@ladymacbeth6211 Not really, Mobius was in path of evolution, it won't end. Oh.... It already ended millennium years ago, the only one who's left was the remnant of self proclaimed Mobius. But, Kevin is doing this for some purpose of annihilating Honkai. If the Honkai was already gone, i doubt he would continue to live, he would kill himself as such scum like him don't deserve the peaceful world he created by soaking it with blood. Otto is jealous at him because Otto also wants to think himself as lowest the low being and deserves nothing but eternal damnation but he has value to himself, he values himself until the day he achieved his goal. Since he achieved his goal, then he can think of himself as scum and lowest of low. Kevin however has no one to stand by his side. He's........... so otto tricked everyone that he ruined the whole humanity for 500 years of honkai but actually saving the whole humanity by making new possibilities that they can fight back Honkai in a world with Kallen. LOL this makes me thought he was the hidden main protagonist of all time
Several weeks later, and I’m finally here. This is by far my favorite cinematic for this game. Just a year ago, I never would have imagined that I’d be crying for Otto Apocalypse. Time to finally rest, Great Inventor.
He did it... He actually did it. 500 long years and he managed to save her. I despised Otto for so long but damn... I can't believe I cried for him. This last arc and this short made me change so much of my opinion about him. This is how you make and kill a great villain. All Honkai shorts are amazing, but this one... You outdid yourselves Mihoyo, thank you so much for all the care and love you put into this story and characters.
@@dragonballandhonkaiimpact1022 if you remember kolostein is supposed to also travel with him, so that means either kallen is alive in a universe and we won't see her, OR the main cast of the game is back in time when kallen was alive, at least i think so.
I love the little details like the bondage marks on Kallen’s wrists after she breaks free and Otto sweating after a fierce fight. Impressive attention to detail like always
Ironically, Otto resembles the quote, “ if rescuing you is a sin, then I’ll gladly becomes sinner” even more so than Mei who said the line… well maybe for now.
Now that i think abt it, I'd like to see the public's reaction if mei does smth akin to what otto did, were all very aware he symbolizes that quote and a lot of people hated him for it, i wonder if the same reaction will happen if mei did smth like that.
What I noticed is that in the present (Otto), it is made by CG meanwhile in the past (Kallen) it is made in 2D animation. The same type of animation used for Honkai Gakuen (basically early Mihoyo). I really like that choice.
I swore that I would never forgive Otto, but I changed my mind. Seeing his determination really changed my view on him. From the moment he gave his message to Theresa, and then, when he finally reached Kallen and deliver his final words. God freaking heck do I cried. Seriously crying. No other Honkai cinematic ever did this to me, and why it must be you, Otto, the one that we all despised so much? I can't believe it, but you did it, you absolute mad man! We might not ever could condone his crimes, but the least that we could do is to wish him peace. He suffered hundreds of years just for the one that he loved. He dedicate his life, willing to play as the bad guy just to change history, to undo his wrong, to save her that he cannot save. Otto is human just like all of us. He was a fragile, wounded soul, tormented and twisted into a wretched person that he was... But deep inside, he's still human. He cared, he loved, and he's willing to sacrifice himself for others. He's even willing to sacrifice the whole world, just for she that saved his childhood. Otto live long enough to be a villain, and survived long enough to die as a hero. Many heroes willing to sacrifice themselves for saving the world and those that they loved, but very few could sacrifice themselves and the whole world for the only one that they ever truly love. Rest in peace, Otto Apocalypse. Best written villain, and one of the best character in the whole series. The one that we hate the most, and the one that we respect the most.
Well Otto never truly loved Kallen, if he did he wouldn't experiment on children and kill so many innocents. He'd know she wouldn't condone it and aspire to be like her. He spits upon her memory and values every time. Exactly when he let the honkai beasts rampage that would eventually kill her, she hates him for it and runs to save a child. He never deserved this heroic ending. He's a selfish bastard through and through.
Well when we hate something to the core then we knew it's was just one view of ours then we saw another view that's kinda hit like a truck, so it's pretty much normal.
@@ArthurianIdeal Silly. Love does not mean you want to be a copy of the other person nor does it mean you want to follow the same path or even abide by their moral code. That said he saved far far more people than he killed or wronged. He was single-handedly responsible for the survival of mankinfd for centuries. Without him humanity would be extinct, and at the end he left leaving as a gift the means for his earth to survive after he is gone. He did some horrible stuff, but there is no one in the story who could really judge him, because there was no one who could have done his job.
@@conelord1984 That’s twisting my statement and then attacking that. I was merely saying that without appreciating her wishes and dreams he displays a lack of care for the object of his affection. Even he calls it an obsession, not love. And you are wrong that no one else could have aided humanity as well as he has. The story literally goes out of its way to explain this at several turning points: - Anybody who had gotten void archives and not be so wholly corrupyed by its influence would have done better. - Fighting Anti-Entropy, when they should have been fighting Honkai. - Developing a cure for Honkai corruption in the shicksal labs, only to order its destruction and have the personell killed except one vial as a failsafe which was used by Himeko to save Kiana. - Letting Himeko believe that she was going to die anyway because a lack of mass production of said cure. - Not killing Sirin, but instead contacting the Will of the Honkai during the Second Eruption, causing her to survive and destroy 1/3d of the earth’s population. Ruining Fu Hua’s sacrifice in the process. - Shooting Fu Hua in the head, humanity’s longest active defender. - Trying to nuke New York for petty reasons. - Nuking Cecilia and Siegfried, literally his best valkyrie and another high-tier one. - Killing many past S-rank valkyries - Creating hundreds of Kallen clones that fought each other to the death until Theresa broke the cycle by sparing Amber. The list goes on! There were many times were a better strategic decision could have been made. So no, he did not save more people than he wronged, that title goes to Welt Yang.
You see on 4:39 Otto is crucified like Christ. He takes on the sins of the world (by literally committing all of the crimes), then sacrifices himself so that the conscience of the world (Kallen) and the new world may live.
He also developed so many anti Honkai weapon which sacrifices alot of people but also keep the humanity alive. He really takes on the sins of the world.

I want Genshin to have this god tier level writing/animation so bad. I thought I was watching a damn anime for a second then remembered this is a GAME. Mihoyo has come so far with this game, I swear. I love Otto, yes I know he did fucked up things but his passion, his drive, his ambition to save the one person in his life that matters to him is too commendable to hate. I can't forgive his actions, but as a man, he has my fucking respect dude. I actually cried during the flashback scenes at the end. It hit hard knowing such a greatly written character went out with a bang.
I wonder how Genshin will be able to create a story of this level with a significantly larger cast of characters. I think one of the reasons Honkai's story is so jam-packed is because of its relatively small cast, allowing Mihoyo to be able to put a significant amount of love and care for each and every one, while still having enough juice for that juicy, juicy worldbuilding. I'm excited to find out.
Please Mihoyo, we all want an anime adaptation for this amazing story. I never would’ve thought in a million years that a waifu gacha game would move me to tears this much. Its time to show the world what an incredible story you’ve created.
@@m0ldy_cupcake honestly, id like to have the consistency of the CGs to carry through into a full anime. Thats part of what made honkai so special imo.
The concept of someone who would bear the sins of the world so that others become stronger seems incredible to me, although Otto's original plan did not seem to be this, he decided at the last moment to leave his world to those he loved as well as create a future for Kallen and her other selves where they can possibly be together.
Otto you are the best villain that I've ever seen. Your actions maybe unforgivable but your drive and motivation is undoubtedly pure. You only wanted to make a future where Kallen lives and you actually did it. You have my utmost respect.
This ending made me cry so hard. It took Otto 500 years to do something everyone believed was impossible, but he did it and that's truly what matters. Honestly, no matter bad or good Otto was, I will always miss and sympathize him! This guy is a definition of strong will and determination! P.S. damn, I think none of us truly realize how difficult it was for him. Imagine to spend hundreds of years to save someone you truly love even tho you know in the end of the day you will never be there with her and will never see her again with your eyes… truly heartbreaking… update: a day passed, but I still can't believe Otto died. Now I can truly sense the feeling honkai story slowly follows its logical finale 😭😭
Otto's goal changed over the years. When he realized that reviving Kallen was impossible, he set his sights upon the Herrschers, but we never really had a glimpse of what he wanted to do until now, his grand finale.
Just to clarify a point : he didn't do it by love, he did it because he felt guilty and had a life-owe for Kallen who saved his life and got killed because of him and his family. He started by overthrowing his own family and become the overseer, then passed his entire 500 years of existence trying to find a way to make Kallen live. But it doesn't matter if he could live with her cause at this point he didn't even think himself worthy of her. In fact, he wanted to exchange his life for hers since the very beginning.
He doesn't look to be forgiven. He doesn't _expect_ to be forgiven. But if it's for her... to force the universe to give her another chance, he'll do whatever it takes. No matter what happens, no matter what he is forced to do, what he has to sacrifice, as long as she lives fairly, that is enough. Let's be honest, it takes some really masterful writing to both make you hate a character so much and still make you feel and understand why he does what he does.
Best part? He left a f*cking legacy for those he had confronted in person, got into deadly battle with Durandal and then Kaslanas siblings before pinned Dante Style. Fought his way to the tree so Kallen have another chance(I know Samsara saga is wonky in timeline placement, but if Kallen lived, she would make her way to Sakura regardless? I think?) to save the world as she wishes. Passing Shicksals under Durandal's hand for entrusting their fate, humanity's fate, for a better path than he could ever achieve. He really is a well written character than a typical villain who joined us because of power of friendship, or mutually aligned under united goal with the heroes, but no. Otto stayed as the man who moved them to topple him down in the end.
@@fazadhikarizqkoswara9429 Late but for your second paragraph, Yae stays dead in every timeline Kallen is alive. This is post of her journey to the east and after the shit that happened there Kallen returned and is sentenced to death. Not only she went against Schicksal the Apocalypse family (during her trial) will also label her a spawn of satan or something for being homo. Kallen openly told her love for Yae during the trial. I guess that's a win for Otto? LOL!
@@dadian803 its still a win for Otto. He never cared if Kallen loves him at all as a lover. He no longer see Kallen in a Romantic light either, it became more of an unconditional love for his only savior and friend during his childhood. Her surviving or living is his only goal, and her loving him back only sounds good in paper but even he knows that is impossible and irrelevant for him.
The only regret everyone has is that we only realised he has his own justice and goodness within him after his death, which is of course it's too late to realise. Kudos to mihoyo for bringing such a wonderful, well deserved end for a well written antagonist/anti hero
I think most kinda knew that already, the reality is that the crimes he committed for his justice is something we as viewers cannot accept. We can understand him, we just don't agree with him.
yep.....he realized that himself but by the time he realized it he was already too far into his quest but now he altered events he altered Kallen's death he effectively created a new timeline split from the current one that APHO takes place after he pulled a Legend of Zelda lol i cannot believe i am gonna say this but...i am gonna miss him...
Something I have not seen anyone mention in the comments: the song playing when Otto is approaching the Tree has a type of dulcimer playing during the 2nd half in the background. The dulcimer would have been a very common instrument in Kallen/Otto's time and region. Brilliant subtly that takes the audience to that point in history.
@@xi8abidsaefullohyusuf690 Since he abused thousands of children, manipulated a lot of people, etc. He has committed many, unforgivable crimes to achieve a rather selfish sacrifice. Genshin has Yae, Mei and Kiana. Ayato has the same voice as Otto in JP and I was told his CN is too. He may yet be the first Honkai male character to end up in Genshin knowing very well that despite still being hated, he is now appreciated as a character. It would do good for Mihoyo to release a playable Otto now since many Honkai players will attempt to get him after all this. There will most likely be a tease of him sometime through next update or late this one. I'd be more surprised if Ayato is not Otto.
@@DKOIsoul I really hope they make him look a lot like Otto - as you said many Honkai players will try to get him if that’s the case and it’s all because of this animated short. It was so good.

Otto's dialogue (so people can analyse them a bit easier): When you truly want to change the world, you will discover how pitiable your own strength is The Holy Maid gave her all to the people, and was repaid with merciless shackles and nooses The world is at chaos, It is neither fair nor sensible It wrongs heros and breeds scum It is rife with ugliness without a trace of beauty The malice of the world shall be sundered by the villain This is the distance between her and tomorrow This is the world taking revenge against her But her believer will never give in Once their soul dissipates, One cannot be brought back to life The world allows a mind to find a matching vessel But does not allow a vessel to gather the pieces of a mind To save the one and only her, I can only create new possiblities in the past The other future will belong to her Kallen, Live
Theresa: Grandpa, I mastered Oath of Judah.. we just deploy the cross and light spear will drop to the enemies. Neat! Otto: but, Oath of Judah is a shotgun Theresa: eh? EHH!!??
Otto had to teach Theresa Oath of Judah's Elysium Perdion in the 2nd Eruption manga, so, not too out of place :P Theresa's use of Oath of Judah in the manga is already, however, versatile enough to be a meme.
This animation is wonderful. Regression is a masterpiece ! Such beautiful gifts for Otto! I hope we can have the soundtrack from 4:08 to 5:30 as well please ^^
Who would have thought that after so many times of hoping so desperately to see Otto lose hard because of the damage he has done, we ended up wanting to see him win at the very end.
I don't really know about the story of Honkai Impact, but this animation left me feel so... empty and on the verge of tears. The visuals, soundtrack, voice acting... Truly wonderful.
I can't believe how Otto did his farewell..... throughout the entire game he was a rotten to the core villain...but at the end he bid farewell to the world like a real protagonist.....hats off Mihoyo you made me cry for Otto 🥲🥲
He is a man with grey morality in my eyes.. same like kevin, and the former HoR. Mihoyo really did a good work on writing those characters, wether playable or NPC
The best animation hands down, it also animate every moment of Otto's Journey, as he's has been the one who observed this story from its early stage. Now, its a complete journey.
One of the times, if not the only time, we see Otto being sincere. He was really giving his all, no schemes. He did many terrible and unforgivable things. But this time, I’m just happy for him. His five hundred year journey has finally come to an end.
I actually think Kallen might be alive in the main timeline. If you noticed before he touches the tree its clearly at night yet when he falls through the air its clearly day. As well as the fires are put out. And he talks about the mind needing a host that it can transfer indicating you cant revive someone from the dead but you can MOVE them mind and soul into a new vessel at the time of death. I think Otto overlapped the Eras and used the clone bodies to host all of the lives covered by the overlapp. Wonder what the truth will be. Good job Mihoyo
I feel bad for Otto and Kallen they both have done everything for the people but in the end they betrayed them, Otto and Kallen is the hero we need but don't deserve.

When we're young, we are taught the distinction between a hero and a villain, good and evil, a savior and a lost cause. But what if the real difference is just who's telling the story?
And then Kevin and Otto are opposites. Probably why Kevin did the trade quite a few chapters earlier- seeing Otto wanted to do what he could never bring himself to do. One gave up the one he loves to save the world, and the other gave up the world to save the one he loves.
The difference is Kiana, Mei and the other gals didnt kill, manipulate and abuse innocent's for her goals, and sacrificied themselves instead of the world, Otto on the other hand is the contrary.

I cry when I realize that, the name of Shamash in CN is literally "divine judgment of sky fire", so it is 100% fit the last hit from Otto.
That’s beautiful
Kallens lesbian
I find it poetic, how Otto's final moments were utilizing the full power of Judgment of Shamash, a tool he always hated with a passion because of the Kaslana oath to use it to sacrifice themselves, a fate destined for Kallen that he had always fought against with his every breath, and used it to save her and break that cycle of tragedy.

@@ever-changingbeing Now,Genshin is a pretty recent game compared to Honkai, give it some time.
Now I see this as this:
Himeko's sacrifice is like one for all, herself for Kiana, and for the future of their world and making it a better place, as Kiana would live on carrying her legacy.

Kallen is his only light in this world and what I love about his character is that it reflects Kiana's. She fights for the beauty in the world while Otto fights because without Kallen there is no beauty In the world. So regaining lost beauty.

@@Personat0r yes, indeed.
While I do agree love is beyond what Otto feels for Kallen, you'd be surprised what people can do for and/or in the name of love, both in fiction and real world.
Absolutely love how they animated Otto’s journey throughout the story. He’s the drive of Honkai’s story. I’m glad that he won and succeeded.
I agree, but I wanted at least Tesla to punch him. xD
@@ArthurianIdeal LOL hahahaha🤣🤣

Yes, yes and yes. Now that's how you write a villain. Props to Mihoyo for making such a great antagonist.
I never thought I’d be crying over an Otto cinematic you’ve done it again Minho
True end of Otto Apocalypse? I think not, my fellow captain :(
The fact is that Otto is one of the scariest antagonist for me since he is the most human out of all the characters.
Yes, and Otto sincerely believed in the power of love
@@chassiek3955 Yeah, this is the guy who planned for Kiana to master her HoV powers through the "Power of Friendship". Honestly, I was surprised when I discovered that fact. Few villains directly exploit that attribute to their advantage.
The scariest villains are ones who are born out of pure love, and believe that they, more than anything else, are in the right.

I really like that choice.
omg that’s why the early art style looked so familiar
He made others suffer way more than he did, and sometimes it was for legitimately no reason...

The story literally goes out of its way to explain this at several turning points:
- Anybody who had gotten void archives and not be so wholly corrupyed by its influence would have done better.
- Killing many past S-rank valkyries
- Creating hundreds of Kallen clones that fought each other to the death until Theresa broke the cycle by sparing Amber.

It hit hard knowing such a greatly written character went out with a bang.
keep in mind Honkai got this animation starting from the NINTH chapter. Genshin is currently on its second
@@Schinak Bro imagine how much BETTER Genshin is possibly gonna get then by the time like, chapter 7 is out-
Let's not forgot star rail bois
I wonder how Genshin will be able to create a story of this level with a significantly larger cast of characters. I think one of the reasons Honkai's story is so jam-packed is because of its relatively small cast, allowing Mihoyo to be able to put a significant amount of love and care for each and every one, while still having enough juice for that juicy, juicy worldbuilding. I'm excited to find out.
@@Schinak but genshin will have 7 chapters :c
Another "If saving you is a sin, then I'll gladly become a sinner"
But stronger
Except that he literally did it
Otto in a nutshell
Waaaaaay stronger
"If saving you is a sin, I'll gladly become a sinner" pro max ultra
Except that he first killed countless innocents instead of going as far as sacrificing himself BEFORE her death.
7:32 OMG They animated so many sections of the different mangas!!!!!!
Are they gonna make full animations for all of them?!?!?! HYPE
You can read 7 sword VN
Please Mihoyo, we all want an anime adaptation for this amazing story. I never would’ve thought in a million years that a waifu gacha game would move me to tears this much. Its time to show the world what an incredible story you’ve created.
They won't make it until Honkai is famous enough cause this quality of animation is too expensive
@@Anonymous_Seven Idec if its not this quality of animation. I’d be fine if it was just regular 2D anime lol
@@m0ldy_cupcake honestly, id like to have the consistency of the CGs to carry through into a full anime. Thats part of what made honkai so special imo.
Otto, the man who defies the world, shall be the one to carry the burden of Sin and let the heroes shine brighter than anyone can think.
Imagine to spend hundreds of years to save someone you truly love even tho you know in the end of the day you will never be there with her and will never see her again with your eyes… truly heartbreaking…
update: a day passed, but I still can't believe Otto died. Now I can truly sense the feeling honkai story slowly follows its logical finale 😭😭
So did he die ?
@@ronnachaiaramraks3336 he did... and I'm brave enough to say "unfortunately" 🥲
Otto's goal changed over the years. When he realized that reviving Kallen was impossible, he set his sights upon the Herrschers, but we never really had a glimpse of what he wanted to do until now, his grand finale.
@@illustris. his goal was always one: to let Kallen live. The rest were just steps to accomplish it.
@@fazadhikarizqkoswara9429
Late but for your second paragraph, Yae stays dead in every timeline Kallen is alive.

I just realize that there's two songs playing in this Animated Short, I hope MHY will post the other one. The first music sounds so goooood.

@Passerby - Gamer that's the neat part, they never ever released the song before rubia.

We can understand him, we just don't agree with him.
yep.....he realized that himself but by the time he realized it he was already too far into his quest but now he altered events he altered Kallen's death he effectively created a new timeline split from the current one that APHO takes place after he pulled a Legend of Zelda lol
i cannot believe i am gonna say this but...i am gonna miss him...

I know people hate Otto... but I've always respected Otto for what and who he is. What a spectacular sendoff.
Why ppl hate Otto? Im new player honkai but i know who is Otto but not his history

That's it, im rolling for Ayato in Genshin now. That's probably the closest thing i can have playable Otto
I’d never get tired of Otto’s voice 😭
@@Shoinyy hey some of us liked him even before the animated short
but ye rollin ayato just for the voice lel, akira is chad va, hope he looks atleast somewhat similar to otto too
Man, always hitting the mark with the animations! And to believe we still have a whole lot more ahead of us. Thanks Mihoyo for an awesome journey!
I went from hating Otto to having a love-hate relationship with his character, I always used to joke and say things like "So when is he finally going to die?" and cheering when I saw him getting stabbed in the teaser for this animation, but now that I know that this time he's gone for good, I'm kinda really sad :')
Otto's dialogue (so people can analyse them a bit easier):
When you truly want to change the world,
you will discover how pitiable your own strength is
The Holy Maid gave her all to the people,
and was repaid with merciless shackles and nooses
The world is at chaos,
It is neither fair nor sensible
It wrongs heros and breeds scum
It is rife with ugliness without a trace of beauty
The malice of the world shall be sundered by the villain
This is the distance between her and tomorrow
This is the world taking revenge against her
But her believer will never give in
Once their soul dissipates,
One cannot be brought back to life
The world allows a mind to find a matching vessel
But does not allow a vessel to gather the pieces of a mind
To save the one and only her,
I can only create new possiblities in the past
The other future will belong to her

Theresa: Grandpa, I mastered Oath of Judah.. we just deploy the cross and light spear will drop to the enemies. Neat!
Otto: but, Oath of Judah is a shotgun
Theresa: eh? EHH!!??
Otto had to teach Theresa Oath of Judah's Elysium Perdion in the 2nd Eruption manga, so, not too out of place :P
Theresa's use of Oath of Judah in the manga is already, however, versatile enough to be a meme.
This animation is wonderful. Regression is a masterpiece ! Such beautiful gifts for Otto! I hope we can have the soundtrack from 4:08 to 5:30 as well please ^^

Great Job! The way you guys interpreted Otto is too damn awesome! Thank you so much Mihoyo, another masterpiece
Who would have thought that after so many times of hoping so desperately to see Otto lose hard because of the damage he has done, we ended up wanting to see him win at the very end.
I'll say it again otto is one of the most well written anime villains out there, good job mihoyo for making such an amazing villain.
Otto is not a hero and betrayed many people and friends himself.
@@JustEverton for arguments sake, he only turned that way because everyone in Shicksal (especially his father) betrayed Kallen first. If Shicksal don't do anything like that he'll most likely not gonna turned that way.
@@melonlord5026 Yeah, but other people went through the the same or even worst nightmares than him, all because of his actions. Even so, they still didn't become inhuman like Otto did, that just shows you that every human is build different. Otto fell into the darkness that humanity and Honkai gives to everyone, he just took it in a very different way that was downright psychotic for 500 years, something that most of us will never do.
@@JustEverton Yeah he's not normal in the first place. He already did human experiments even when Kallen was still alive, that's how he can make a cure for the great plague but he hides it from Kallen. Kallen's death is pretty much what made the last screw in his head comes off.
@@melonlord5026 Okay I see now, you're a captain that doesn't try to tie everybody together like we all are the same, that's reassuring since I've gotten into an argument with many of them lately lmao. So yeah; I do agree with you that he wasn't normal from the start, but his methods and tactics became more sinister later down the road, and some of his sacrifices was very unnecessary; since it seem like he just didn't care anymore, and remembers that Kallen is the only goal.
Does not change the fact of how many people he killed, let die or made them suffer just to make his dream come true. But I can accept that his determination is very very strong.
