I, too, learned of this extraordinary musician's recent demise, thanks to a cousin of mine mentioning it on his Facebook page. This tune - along with Mythoea Movement 1 - are among favourite tunes of mine that were performed by this man. He will indeed be well remembered.
In this chaotic world, where noise often overshadows melody, you have emerged as a guiding light, a custodian of the harmony and intrinsic beauty of life. I would like to express my deep gratitude for your unwavering commitment to translating emotions into notes, landscapes into melodies, and dreams into sounds that touch the soul. Your music has the power to transport us to distant worlds, to make us dance among stars and galaxies, to make us feel the sea breeze on our skin and the warmth of the sun on our faces. With every note, you manage to paint a vivid and vibrant picture, allowing our minds to wander freely and our souls to embrace the infinite. You are a visionary in the truest sense of the word, a painter of sound who creates with such intense and meaningful strokes that they manage to penetrate the depths of our being. Your artistic sensibility and your ability to grasp the hidden beauty in every corner of the world are an inspiration to all who love music and art. Thank you for gifting us with timeless masterpieces that will continue to resonate in our hearts and minds for generations to come. Your contribution to the art of music is immense and indelible, and for this, I will be eternally grateful. With respect and admiration, Michele Bortolotti

I have loved this piece of music since I first heard it. Goodbye to the man that gave us so much wonderful music. I hope his works continue to be celebrated.
When my ANZ flight took off from LAX bound for Fiji in in pitch black darkness on my first time flying over the Pacific, I put this on my iPod and it helped me calm down ❤️ RIP to a genius. More people should know this album
I can't get enough of listening to these beautiful songs. This musical style is my favorite. I love to travel in time to try to better understand the meaning of life!
Magistral !!! Maravillosa !!! Excepcional !!! No me alcanzan los adjetivos para calificar la que a mi parecer la obra mas grande del maestro Vangelis !!! 💯
Agreed! it evokes the sound of a ship's bell, waves, and wind, with a sense of sadness in what happened in the story. Vangelis is a complete genius, and nobody since has been as good. His music in Blade Runner made me love it!
You close your eyes and you are there on the bounty totally helpless with no salvation in sight all the emotions are transferred to you through his music. A great musician indeed, a true artist.
@Aristeidisf Yes, me too... Vangelis has this unique ability to transport us to worlds filled with spiritual serenity. I never get tired of hearing "Closing Titles". Vangelis is the god of music, no question about.
What beautiful music this man creatded. It is one thing to me a keyboard whiz but this is way beyond as it is heart and soul. The albums he created with Jon Anderson (YES) and others (Aprhodites Chiild) are equally fantastic. He gave his soul into this music and all he got. RIP my keyboard hero.
Of all of Vangelis’ wonderful themes, this has to be his greatest. It evokes sadness, elation, triumph and defeat, and as others have commented here, you can hear the sea and the wind in this wonderful piece of music. Pure genius…
Much underrated film with great actors Hopkins Gibson neeson but vangelis captures something that only he could do rest in peace Jon Anderson must be devastated! X
Music for a 18th century sea voyage. Music for the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Music for science fiction. And all the studio albums and work with Jon Anderson, Irene Papas, Demis Roussos and others. Evangelos Papathanassiou ❤
Egy olyan érzést indít el bennem, ami azt idézi elő, hogy önmagamat fedezzem fel. Hiszem hogy életünk legnagyobb feladat, önmagunk meg ismerése. Ez a zene, térkép hozzá
Before I heard this music I had never recognized Vangelis and known Bounty film, despite so many years. I did wonder that many judges had underestimated and marked too low.
I live in dublin and have always seen this actor about, looks very like john hurt but I couldn’t place him. Turns out finally it is Brendan Conroy he played Robert Lamb in The Bounty, being a massive fan of this movie I couldn’t belive i didn’t realize it before, next time i see him im going to ask him about his time on the set.Info like this from actors in smaller rolls should have been included on making of dvds etc,if i meet him i will try and video him as he talks about it. Seems like a cool guy anyway. He would have seen that amazing scene between hopkins and Daniel day, insubordinate being shot. Wow imagine.
If this track from the album Themes & the same track from the movie track are compared side by side, I find the movie track has a stronger bass & percussive sound, which I like better! I don't know how the remix engineer for the Themes album could have missed this unless he/she was tone deaf!
The movie mix of a song is always going to be different than the mix of the same song for a stereo recording. You have at least three other channels to deal with other than left and right. The bass you heard in the theatres was its own separate channel. That had to be folded into the left and right and balanced out. Nowadays it would be a lot easier because now you can have a 5.1 version that could reproduce the theater mix, but back in the 80's that was nearly impossible
RIP, Vangelis. Your music will never be lost. It is pressed between the pages of the minds of every person that has heard it. Thank you.

Such power from so few notes.

The bounty is brilliant film. At the end of the movie when there stood on cliffs watching the ship burn and this piece of music plays, marvellous.
You close your eyes and you are there on the bounty totally helpless with no salvation in sight all the emotions are transferred to you through his music. A great musician indeed, a true artist.

A Legend is no more. He will for always be in my mind. I owe him so much.
This totally sums up 80’s soundtracks…slightly dark and foreboding yet a distant eternal light. He was a master of it!

I always imagine the Bounty, seen from a great height, a spec in the mamouth ocean of the Pacific, leaving it's wake, but lost and alone.
