We were just talking about the crappy shower/toilet block at Camaret Sur Mer 😂 We also stayed at Audierne one night on a mooring buoy but a few nights inside the main marina. Nice town. Glad Ywey got to share that enormous steak. She deserves it!
Enjoyed watching this , you sailed past Wor Hoose (Douarnenez) and my local surf spot the Baie des trépassé, loved seeing your Northumbria flag , all the best
Just a thought on sticking main halyard, I have similar issue on my 473, however I’m sure it’s because the previous owner fitted a 16mm halyard and I’ve realised the jammers and blocks are designed for 10-14mm?-SV Crazy Daisy
@@maesy6730 thank you! Yes, passage planning does get a lot easier when you’re doing it all the time. And you do get used to navigating in unfamiliar surroundings, just always play it safe. Don’t be taking shortcuts or straying from the buoyage! We are indeed on the way to the Med. We’re 2/3 of the way now, it’s been an adventure!
Aye Aye! I do believe the main should go up first? Then the fore-sail?? but with roller furling it seems easy to unfurl rather than hoist the Mainsail. The main is supported by most of the mast........ the genoa only by the forestay.........
@@mattanderson9029 it does help when there’s wind! When there’s no wind and loads of swell like we had that day, the sails just flog around making a right racket. By the time the wind really filled in, we were nearly there! Our main sail is a big old heavy thing and it just wasn’t worth putting it up for the last 45 mins to then take it back down!
You should not be in the channel its restricted area for small craft to allow big craft acces. There is loads of space just outside the channel depthwise. Zoom in your charts 'See French sailing directions'....
@@sailinghjem its on Navionics. Can't post screen shot here. I can maybe screen shot it to you, bit late now and not a big deal really these days. This is why you see most boats (most French) outside the channel. My understanding is because it used to be a very heavy military traffic area from Brest but not as much now. The ferries need clear passage through the narrow sections as you did and moved over for the ferry.
Hi , just found you ,, great stuff , we live in Brittany so know the sea area well , ( little fishing boat in Portsall just after Aberwrach ) I saile for a few years and also did the Raz the opposite way in my 1970 s 21 ft outboard ( 6hp ) powered Dufour Sylph lol ,, wrong time wrong conditions ! Followed a 13m yacht thinking it looked fine ,,, omg ,, never again lol ,, so well done on your planning ,, have a look at « the cowboy fishermen of the point du raz « videos ! You will see the conditions it can produce , incredible men .. any way looking forward to following you now . Neil.

Beautiful part of the world. You look more relaxed in general, navigating unfamiliar territory I mean. Are you on the way to the med eventually ?

Shouldn't you put a bit of main up for stability?
