Old Pulteney Huddart is a nice gateway for people who haven't tried peated whisky before. Plus, the peat is Highland peat, which is a sweeter smoke as compared to Isla peat.
Stuart Baxter the Inver house brand manager picked the Huddart as one for his perma shelf when interviewed on the “V pub” by Roy 7 months ago, he confirmed that it was non chill filtered and natural colour, matured in 100 % ex Borboun casks and finished in ex An cnoc peated casks, like you Alan I can’t understand why they don’t put this on the label!
Cheers buddy!
GOD LOVES YOU, WHISKY FRIEND!
Thanks my friend, your support really does mean a lot....
I love the briney malts.
Me too my friend... Was a massive OP fan boy... But its been too long.....
Had this last night Alan. Great unique whisky and natural presentation. Winner. 👌🏻
Thnx. for tasting and featuring the dram ❤ I've not had this btl. 4 ever and a day! Nice to know it's still a great pour, Cheers 🥂 from ETn Smoky Mtns area, mate!
Thanks for reviewing Alan.
Have had the Huddart and thought it to be a decent whisky, though it did not blew me away.
Slàinte mhath
It is a wonderful dram 👌
It's very nice... Pricey though...
@@thewhiskyfriend It cost £50 here. I think it is worth that.
Just picked up a back up on amazon... £39...happy chappy....
I managed to pick up the last bottle of Old Pulteney Navigator though, 😁
I have a bottle of Navigator... Its been sitting on the shelf for around 4 years and still remains in opened... Need to get into that one soon... Cheers...
Good one Allan! I find the Huddart a bit too young and harsh and the 12 underpowered so I generally mix them at 3 units of 12 and 1 unit of Huddart which makes for a better dram in my opinion. Slainte!
Hi Al ..great review as always mate 👍
I usually pick up the 12 and 15 but will give this a try , I’m not a peat / smoke guy but I’m thinking / hoping this is not too prominent .
Cheers 👍🥃
If you like the 12 & 15 you will like this... Its finished on peated casks so it's not to peaty... £39 on amazon right now.. Cheers fella
Presently £39.45 on Amazon. Have a bottle in my stash but not open yet. Great review Alan. Thanks. Doon the hatch mate.
A fine review Alan thanks for your thoughts on this whisky 🥃I have not had it but it sounds interesting. Ciao 👋 S.
is Old Pulteney getting back onto my shelves....? lets find out folks....
I've really been enjoying the 15 year old. I'm nearing the bottom of my second bottle. It was my first and so far my only Old Pulteney. My local shop has a Signatory Cask Strength OP but I can get two more bottles (almost three) of the 15 for what they are asking for it. The 15 really delivers so I will probably just stick with that.
It's been a wee while for me with Old Pulteney Mike... Need to do more that 15 I'd defo on the radar.... Is it worth picking up buddy....?
@@thewhiskyfriend I'm really getting on with it. I've only had a sample of the legendary 17yo so I can't really compare them, but its a lovely dram. It's not shouty or super complex but it's delicious and easy drinking. The second bottle disappeared even faster than the first. I'll be replacing this second bottle very soon.
Currently £38 at Drambusters, picked up a bottle from them a few months ago for the same price, definitely a step up from the 12yo imho.
Now that's the right money buddy... Cheers
Haven't tried this one, but the 15 is nice, although not nearly what the old 17was/is (still have one bottle 😁). Nice review if I find this for a good price, I'll snap it up. Thanks Alan. Cheers All
I envy you! We don’t get many whiskeys like you in Oklahoma, USA!
We are very lucky here, however, the same must be said for you guys over there with the access to all those fantastic bourbons and Ryes....
This sounds (and looks) lovely Alan! May have to pop round to the shed for a sample swap
Your welcome anytime fella...
Oh, I noticed you're tasting the Huddart, I was speaking about the older 12 yrs. Only expression I ever tried 🤔
Its very nice the huddart but the 15 is next level my friend...ruclips.net/video/O9oNOsN4rYo/видео.html
@@thewhiskyfriend I've had a few nice 15's-- my absolute favorites (aside from the magnificent Glenfarclas 105, Mac 15 Triple cask and the stunning Corryvreckan, are my collection of 18 yrs. -- Glenfiddich, Highland Park and a Glengoyne 15-- have a great 1!
I still haven't brought myself to buy the new OP line. Dropping the 12 down to 40% (while raising the price) and then knocking some age off the 17 and 21 (while also raising the price) really hasn't done wonders for my sense of brand loyalty. I did, however, stock up on old 12, 17 and 21s so I continue to drink them. Love the distillery. I just don't see the value proposition in the official lineup anymore, which is sadly becoming the case for nearly the entirety of Scotch whisky.
Hey Jason long time fella... I felt exactly the same buddy this is the first OP bottling I've bought for four years... Your right with the pricing however everything else now seems to be catching up... Its still good whisky fella... Thanks for dropping in my friend...
@@thewhiskyfriend Yeah, the market is definitely catching up. And the 15yo, I just noticed yesterday, is actually down a few $$ from where it was priced last year. So that's nice to see.
Opened one of these recently and am enjoying it. Shame that the statment about NCF NC are in very tiny writing on the bottom of the back of the box where you have to hunt for it and need a magnifying glass and flashlight to read.
Hi Alan. Has it Happens have had this in the hand a couple of times( didn’t buy though)but it’s the price, a lot of good malts in that price bracket. Slàinte Alan, Doon The Hatch ( responsibly of course)👍.
Hmm 🤔 maybe I’ll just stick to good old 12 yo
