    When I visited Old Pulteney Distillery we tasted the 12, 15, 18 and Huddart. The OP 15 was my favorite in the line up.

    Yes! Favorite distillery. OP 12 is often on sale in grocery stores for £25-27. My everyday scotch and this is next on the list. Btw, any chance Benromach 10 is coming up for a review?!

    I absolutely loved this scotch. Complexity wise, it actually really surprised me. Just so unique, kinda like how GM Signet - unique. The richness maltiness with the briny finish. Totally incredible. My favourite I’ve tasted this year!

    The last of the Old Pulteney 17 stock went into closeout recently in VA ABC and I managed to pick up 3 bottles at 50% off. This will probably the last time I will ever see the 17 on the shelves.

  • @agrainofmalt

    Great review guys. Looking forward to trying this one. In stock at a nearby store here in Sweden... about €80-85, while the 12 has remained at €35. Fair price jump from the 12 to 15, but I want it :)

    • @Scotch4Dummies

    • @jasoncoates1835

      Might be an interesting clash between the two most disappointing product reboots in recent whisky history.

    • @trhoads07
      @trhoads07 5 лет назад

      @@jasoncoates1835 I wouldn't say that just yet. I want to taste the new offerings before passing judgement. Maybe you have been fortunate enough to sample both distillery offerings, I have not.

    • @jasoncoates1835
      @jasoncoates1835 5 лет назад

      @@trhoads07 I am fortunate enough to know both distilleries' malts via their outgoing product line but neither of the new lines has appeared here as of yet. My disappointment is (clearly) not with the whiskies but rather with the lineup/pricing/packaging. With OP we're paying more for younger whisky across the board. With Balblair we've lost the USP, and while we can't compare apples to apples on price:age, you know as well as I do that we're now asked to pay more than 3x as much for what used to be the 1990/91 vintage release.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  5 лет назад

      We haven’t had a chance to really try the BalBlair reboot. I like both distilleries and I’m trying to keep an open mind.

  • @wtharris2343
    @wtharris2343 Год назад

    one man's opinion... it doesnt begin to compare with the old 17. The 17 transported you right to the scottish coast on an early winter day with heavy reminders of kelp, seeweek, mollusks, violent waves, ocean spray and briny pools of seawater waiting for the next high tide. The 15 is heavy on toffee sweetness with a strong finish of what I can only describe as sea oats. Perhaps there is a bit of the ocean but it has to be searched for. For what it is... well OK, but as a replacement for the old 17 forget it.
