I have been following Ian for years now and if you get to see him live, you will be blown away. I believe Lexan nailed it when he said "This is so next level".
seriously? These new kids blow me away. Its rare to see the commitment needed to get to this level. I do have an issue with the title of this, this is not an 18 string guitar, it's a double neck guitar. I'm not trying to take away anything at all from this artist, it's just that it's a misleading title. An 18 string guitar would mean 18 strings on one fretboard, this is a 12 string and a six string combo known as a double neck guitar, not all that rare. Jimmy Page, Rik Emmett & other classics used double neck axes, predominately in the seventies, mostly Gibsons. Great video thanks for sharing!
Hi Ian, How do you control the pickup bleed through......... one neck / pickup being used and the other from picking up or causing strings to ring out?
neat the A D and G strings don't have their octave string counterpart on the twelve string neck. That explains much of his tapping sound. I'm thinking this is actually 15 strings.
nice work. A little redundant but I really appreciate your talent. Very good tapping and harmonizing between both necks. I'd like to have seen the song move away from the tapping at some point. I give it an 8 out of 10
The title of the song is Centrifuge, which is by definition a machine with a rotating container that applies centrifugal force to whatever is inside. I don't think he's trying to communicate a set message in words, but instead convey a feeling. The part at 3:07 and other parts like it where he gets extremely meticulous and technical to the point of feeling mechanical, but still convey a sense of movement and a machine-like feeling. Admittedly, those same melodies might convey that message better with a more mechanical sounding instrument than a natural acoustic, but that's also just my interpretation. It wasn't as ambient as his usual work, but I don't think that takes away from it having feeling.

This is so next level..
is really amazing, sounds like a fusion band but on the guitar, incredible Ian ethan!
Wonder what the sheet music looks like from an 18-string guitar. This is just mind-boggling.
Mind = blown. Awesome performance and skills
Absolutely crushed it!
I know there's a like button, but where is the "holy fucking shit I love this" button?
Great job as always, buddy! Looking forward to touring with you!
Nicely done. Man, that guitar looks fun to play
Some really cool sounds/ideas in this one.

Fabulously enjoyable... BTW: is it just me or were there some discernible tuning issues?
+Streets of Vancouver i don't hear it being out of tune.
I've played guitar for 8 years.
wotsit294 I do think that that is it... THANK YOU :)
Nice to see someone using a CSE225. Don't get to see too many of those. Especially after Ovation went under.
Tap on.

Reminds me of Steve Reich somehow
Esse aí é devoto de "São Stanley Jordan" protetor dos guitarristas impossíveis... hahahahaha
Someone needs to put a drum track behind this.

No decaf was consumed in the creation of this video...

aaaaaaaaaawantiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I don't feel any ambiance, what are you trying to communicate?
