Chuck, I admire how gentle you were with this news about local industrial farming reducing their production. You showed how integrous you are. Thank you for setting an example of civility when discussing an industry you do not see eye-to-eye. We need more of this in the USA right now. Thank you.

Chuck and Sondra, if you are willing to teach the local displaced farmers, they could learn to farm more regeneratively. If they want a more formal training in regenerative ag, Understanding Ag has training events in regen farming.

When I saw that dump trailer, I wondered why you didn't hold the lighter logs over the trailer bed and stand inside it to cut the 16-inch pieces off. Handle once, not twice? Well, you were talking about needing practice using the mini-excavator.

Just moved to Clemmons NC in May from OH, I'm struggling with how hot and humid it is here, you don't need to do much and the sweating is on! 😅 Also, I get ate up soooo bad by the mosquitos, a dozen bites in less than 30minutes. We have 1 acre of land and I want to grow veggies and next year get a few laying chickens :). I want to learn as much as I can about taking care of chickens BEFORE I get them, I want my chickens to be happy and healthy, and I don't want to be fly by night louzy chicken owner 😂 I also want to know what to do if they should get sick. ... I only want 4 chickens and keep away from "chicken math" 😅

We have to stop buying from them at some point anyway. Support them small local farmers. It's time to turn it around. There was a brand of bacon on sale at the store, I don't recall the name, I looked at the back of the package and it was a Smithfield owned company. I didn't buy it. Plenty of good brands online that have pasture raised meat.

I live in southeast Missouri and the same thing happened to the town just to the south of me. it's Dexter Missouri, it has ruined our economy here in our area. the local farmers have filed a lawsuit against said plant. this is getting real folks the risk is very high in not having enough food to survive. The chicken plant that closed here has farmers in so much debt that now it's in the millions of dollars. Chuck you're a huge advocate for farmers please look into the Dexter Missouri Batlle with a popular chicken plant. let the people know what we are truly up against.

As far as that local processing plant closing, are there no other processors/buyers who local chicken producers can sell to ? This seems to be happening more and more. Signing up for a monopoly that controls you and can dump you is just asking for trouble. I've seen examples of farmer co-ops being formed where THEY own the processing facility. Not easy, but almost required to stay in business these days... Send these folks positive vibes.

My husband is VP of manufacturing at a recognition company here in Oklahoma, and he said they just can't find anyone who wants to work in manufacturing anymore. Young people want to work from home from the computer, so they've moved some jobs to Illinois and Mexico, unfortunately. I would hope that the reason the big poultry houses are having to dowsize is that more people are just growing their own chickens, and smaller farms like y'all are where people are choosing to buy from? Personally, I'm raising American Bresse for my family even though it's not smaller cornish (veal-type) quality. It's good enough.
