Enjoyed learning about the history of the two of them. As a young girl in the 1970's my family and I visited the graves and town of Deadwood. Happy to see a video of it.
I am such a fan of story and of the movie series. Summer of 2018, I took a solo trip from Rockford, IL to Deadwood, SD to experience the legendary town for myself. It is intriguing history.
I was there last week. We stayed at Cadillac Jack's. We went to that cemetery. Potato creek johnson is buried with them too. While we were there we went to Seth Bullocks grave at the top of the hill. Deadwood is a great place to visit.
It's odd because to all accounts at the time Hickok couldn't stand Calamity Jane. Jane played up the fantasy her and Hickok were very close and even had an affair in order to get attention.
I was told they were only wild bush story’s I’m so glad they aren’t. It warmed my heart to know a woman like Calamity Jane lived, her story ment the world to me when l was young l had a similar life and I loved that another woman even if it was only one knew how I felt, and that goes for Wild Bill and all the rest I love their story’s I meen, thank you so much for your video
They met once in Hay Camp (Rapid City) when a pack train came through and Jane was a muleskinner piloting a freight wagon. The story about riding into Deadwood together is only true as far as Hickok rode along with the wagons. The romance etc was Jane's fantasy story she told people. They had nothing to do with each other in Deadwood. I live 32 miles South of Deadwood.
So sad to see this Humans are so disappointing . Why would you tear up a grave so disrespectful. These legends deserve better . We all do as human beings
What kind of Idiot would vandalize a Grave marker? Let alone a Historical one! At least there are old photos of what the earlier grave markers looked like for historical reference 🇺🇸
Like many of the old West characters of that era, it can be difficult to separate the real person and the myth. What is known is that Wild Bill Cody was a very good shot with his pistols, killing at least 7 men (one was an accident) with them in gunfights. He was also pretty tough, he served as a lawmen in a few frontier towns. He was very well liked by some, disliked by others, and feared by many. He enjoyed the semi notoriety of his reputation and was said to embellish his many exploits. Calamity Jane's fame came mostly from her behaving more like a brash man than what a women was supposed to act and dress like in that age. First her mother, then her died by the time she was 14, she then took care and charge of her 5 younger brothers and sisters traveling about the west. She was an alcoholic, sometime prostitute, and was known for her kindness and generosity. Just pure speculation on my part, but I think that had she been born in our era, she would of identified with the LGBT community. Living that lifestyle back then would have caused her to be shunned by almost all of society.
Wild bill cant see why people honor a man who killed buffalo for sport and let the indians starve.Doubt if he repented his sin wont look for him in heaven.
He most surely is mistaking Wild Bill for Buffalo Bill. I hate when modern day humans judge the deeds of frontiersnan and woman and earlier settlers. It was dog eat dog and you did what had to be done for survival. Buffalo Bill did what the US govt paid him to do along with thousands of others. Kill bison to the point of extinction. Why? GO TO THE LIBRARY AND READ WHY.
We've been there at the grave sites of Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. Yea, I don't believe he cared for her in the same regard for him (infatuation). He was married to another woman named Agnes Thatcher Lake. Marriage was short lived when Bill was shot in the back of the head in Saloon #10 in Deadwood, South Dakota where Mt. Moriah cemetery is located.

Nice little video, much enjoyed - thanks for that
Good video! Who is it that was such an empty life that they feel the need to defile graves?
@@David-rq6yu What kind of mind would even think of such a thing? You need help.
i knew about him being moved to Mt. Moriah, didn't know about the head stones. thank you.
I simply can’t believe people kept vandalising the graves, what’s wrong with people?
It's odd because to all accounts at the time Hickok couldn't stand Calamity Jane. Jane played up the fantasy her and Hickok were very close and even had an affair in order to get attention.
It may of been Calamity Jane's wishes, but it's been said Hickok rolled over when they planted her next to him.
He wouldn’t have let her ride to deadwood with him if he didn’t like her
@@jimmykray9583 Jane was actually one of Al's girls, later recruiting girls, lying and giving false hopes.
@@erick-manuelsanchez8071 i know
That's probably as close as she ever got to Bill

You have to be a really sick individual to vandalize a grave. Those people responsible are pure scum.
We just visited the cemetery a few months ago. Lots of folks still leave little things on his grave like pennies, bullets, and even a bottle of booze.

Never judge a man until you walk in his shoes more than a country mile.
“…because then when you do judge him, you’re a mile away and you’ve got his shoes.” -Jack Handy
What an insult to Wild Bill, to commemorate his murderer on his own grave.
Yeah I know they don't mean it that way but it's almost like they honor the murderer for downing this prey
Could do without music.
Es nostalgico
Who would vandalize these head stones

@Deplorable Covfefe why?
Two points. A, Hickock, not Cody...two different wild bills.
B. Who gives a shit? When truth and legend disagree print the legend.

Calamity Jane and Wild Bill only met once.
