I've had the game since Christmas of 97' and I'm still finding new stuff. Like I just got Dracula's Tunic a few years ago on accident just by messing with the librarian by boost jumping under him for an extended period of time. Even to this day, I feel like there's more hidden stuff waiting to be discovered. This game is a masterpiece and a heavy competitor with Metal Gear solid for a game I would give everything to wipe my memory of to play for the first time again.

idk about you but back in the days we have this thing called "game magazine", they give you strategy guide, easter eggs in games and other cool trivia stuff I had one where it tells you about the easter eggs in SoTN, even giving the actresses names and short bios(EN and JP alike)
Well since PS1 games were CDs, for certain games like SOTN you could actually put it into a CD Player and Listen to the Soundtrack. I think a lot of people might have found the song that way

One of my favorite "easter eggs" (I'm not sure if it counts) is that there is a distance where you can approach Olrox at his dining table where he will gesture at you offering the seat at the opposite end of the table but not trigger the start of the fight, so you can double back and go take him up on his offer and just sit with him for as long as you like.
Fairie's the only familiar that has a companion feel. Granted shes the only one that heals but she has a decent amount of dialogue compared to the only other familiar that talks, that being the devil.
I didnt have sword when I commented that, I only saw gameplay then but never heard it talk in the gameplays I watched. I standby my point though, especially since I found out that she has an animation where she sits on your shoulder if alucard is sitting down, and on rare occasions, she'll sing while she's waiting. Shes not a good familiar for general use or combat since she can only heal you with potions and thats about all she does, but she is pretty cool for sotn familiar standards outside of that.
@@somefries3101 I remember she does that in the spike-filled room where youre encouraged to use the bat's sonar ability to navigate it without being hit. But there have also been times when the devil familiar has given hints, so I wouldnt say for sure that the fairie is the only familiar that can give you hints. Pretty sure devil and fairie have some shared hint lines too.
That fairy is a very underrated character IMO. She can heal you, buff you, free you from stone, point out breakable walls, and even resurrect you when you die. All on top of being cute, AND being able to sing a whole ass song. She puts in WORK, and she doesn't even have a name.

Considering Alucards backstory, I feel like this song hits home harder than the equivalent hidden song in Ritual of the Night. Nontheless, I think it helps in both cases to paint the protagonists of their respective games as people who have more going on in their lives than just jumping through castles and slaying monsters.

True; but I treat Bloodstained as its own start of a brand new direction and story, and I see IGA's love for his creation in every single piece of it. Is it as perfect as SotN? No... But that's because to compare them, at least for me, is to judge it by what came before, rather than see it for what it is, and find reasons to love it just as much for its own strengths. IGA promised Bloodstained would capture the spirit of Castlevania. From the music to the monsters to the setting... I can't ask for more. If Bloodstained is the next generation, I'm excited to see what's next.

I think FromSoft has done a good job of translating the 16-32 bit eras into 3D format and their games have an air of a clearly defined direction, but they're so blisteringly hard a lot of that can be overlooked

The familiar singing is first included in the Sega Saturn port of SotN, and then added back to the original PS1 version in its update. The English version, however, would have to wait until the much later PSP X Chronicles, which included this new version of SotN.

There are so many secrets in this game. I found a shield that you can attack with that pretty much breaks the game and makes you unstoppable. I think it was the shield rod combined with the alucard shield.

Thanks for the upload, was replaying this game but I think my PSP broke so I wasn't able to view the map, perform a hyper jump or sit in ANY chairs so I couldn't hear her song. I love even after getting 200.6% there's so much more to this game
Explanation: this is only available on the Saturn and post-Dracula X Chronicles (for the PSP) versions. The Saturn only has the Japanese version, the games where you can change the voices between English and Japanese (as is the case with the PSP version, you change this by changing the language in the Rondo of Blood menu first and THEN opening SOTN) have both. Don't know if there are post-DXC versions where voice changes aren't available, please tell me so I can edit this.

that's because it was added in on satern version and psp which then ported to ps4 and mobile version. 360 and ps1 didn't have it.

Iga referenced this in bloodstained. theres a piano miriam can sit and play, but with the pixie/fairy familiar out, shell sit on it and sing while you play
Apparently you have to also level the fairy, it doesn't work at level 1.
