Once again another great review Andrew. Godox has really been stepping up their game with the Knowled line of lights. I'm interested in two of their KNOWLED F600Bi 4x4's. I hope you do one of your thorough reviews on that. Saw Luke Seerveld review comparing it with a Aladdin Mosaic.
@@gaffergear Wonder if its the firmware and want to make it perfect for you. Saw Johns review from @GaffersSalon. He was saying they were doing final firmware tweeks.
I just tested this last week (video coming soon) and we pit the 2 foot against an Asteria 4 foot. I have to say this is the closest yet to an Asteria that I have seen. It's pretty impressive. We found that it ran much better with DMX rather the phone app. My gaffer said that he would all together skip the phone app and just use DMX. We also thought the fx were quite rubbish.
Does the clamp truly block the ability to plug in the DC cable, if you attach the clamp at the end, even if you open the cover before clamping it on? Or is it just a tight fit?
Great review! Currently looking at kits, Quasar Rainbow 2 but these Godox seem like a bargain although Quasar has quite a reputation. I believe prices are still falling and Quasar may be in for some heavy competition not to mention I work at a college studio and we just cannot justify the Titan prices. Thanks again!
Is the app capable of setting addresses and profiles for multiple lights at once like the “Magic Wand” in the Astera app? Or would each light need to be individually programmed on the unit?
Hi! How do you go about rigging a 4ft tube like this to a C stand knuckle? I was originally thinking using a spigot into the clamp and then into the knuckle, but a single clamp on a 4ft light seems fairly precarious, would the balance have to be perfect? The Pavotube clear plastic clamp has a wider clamping area which seems to make this conundrum simpler...
@@gaffergear thanks Andrew! What do you think would be a good clamping solution for these to attach to a C stand? I see the smallest mounts they make are for 2 tubes. And the clear nanlite clamp is too big for these items seems.
Can you help me change the language on one of my tubes. I just purchased 4 tubes TP4R kit. We hit the wrong button on one tube and cannot get it back to English... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and Thank you.

How well do these dim at low outputs? For example, my older Quasars fall apart at outputs below 10%. The newer Quasars have a low output mode that drastically improves usability if you want low levels.
I've been trying to push manufacturers to have low modes, so often I'm below 20%. The dimmer is set to liner in the DMX tests so the last second of the 5 second test is 20% to zero in 1 second, that might give you some idea.t I think I'll start doing 20% to zero cues as part of my reviews now
@@gaffergear how do the amaran pt4c hold up as a rental item . Do they come back damaged easy since they are not made as robust as nanlite Pavo tube ii ?

Hi Andrew I really appreciate you providing such a detailed review on the Godox TPR and Amaran Tubes. I am in the market for one of these products and torn between choosing one over the other. Having used it for some time now, in your professional experience, would you choose to purchase the Godox or Amaran tubes? One of the primary differences I can see is that the Godox is more weather and shock-resistant as Aputure has published no information about this on their Amaran tubes. It is probably safe to say that the Amaran tubes will not be able to take the same level of beating.
Both tubes are very good, I actually think the godox is better but I've gone with Amaran because of the phone app. I don't like the app but so many people only rent Aputure because they have the app
yes you can clamp over your ports, but that's what the 3/8 on the end is for. Besides, you can clamp it on the other end and it wouldn't make a difference.
I did a bad job explaining. You are correct with the 2ft. But if you want to mount a 4ft to a set wall in shot, and run power, it won't be as clean a look as the clamp has to be in the main body of the light source at one end.
20:00 i think titan tubes just have different switch/dim curves, that don't work in every situation. This should be editable in the software by now, idk why its so hard to implement. Every update Astera breaks something in the app.
Thanks for another great review. Do you consult for any of the light makers, telling them what's wrong with their prototypes? If not, you should. ;) Cheers.
Odd that a simple GRID accessory is not included or even available. It's great to see Godox making truly pro gear, but the price point is a little too close to the Astera industry standard. These are a good value for owner/ops but they'll be harder to rent out.
Agree, I can't help but think maybe they should have made a cheaper, non pixel version. 1/2 the price of a Titan, IP 65 rated with CRMX may have had more apeal
@@sebastianFZE The Astra app has way better FX. The major difference is colours, the godox are only RGBWW where as the titan have a wider colour gamut of red, green, blue, mint, and amber. The titan can also receive power and wired DMX over the one cable.
The website shows that they do actually make grids for these but I cannot find any information on them at all other than a picture within all of the TP series ‘accessories’. Maybe they just started making them but I have reached out to inquire why they aren’t available. This is definitely a huge issue.
