As a Nikon shooter, I would totally watch the Nikon Japan episode- seeing the museum would be super cool, and I'm sure it would be fun to watch you all try to get the Nikon miniatures and sampling the local delicacies lol.
That was great! A Nikon Japan Podcast would be awesome. It would be a wonderful adventure to see the headquarters. Being a Nikon user for ten years I would be very interested. I started with a Nikon D5500 then a Nikon D850 and now a Nikon Z9.
I honestly can't think of any other channel that can get me to watch them driving and chatting for an hour, from a rather awkward camera angle no less. Love you guys to bits.
I can’t believe you guys are driving with the dome light on. I was told repeatedly as a child that the car would crash if the dome light was on while the car was driving.
I was in the Salinas area in early May. Endless fields of lettuce! I went to Moss Landing to hop on a boat to photograph wading birds, harbor seals, and otters in the Elkhart Slough. Definitely going again next year. Also, please do the Nikon Japan trip. I'll definitely watch. Auction some of the miniature Nikon toys!
I would watch a Nikon history video, especially if it means Chris and Jareon have to do all of their photography on the trip on their F series cameras.
I remember driving through Salinas at night. (SJC to my sister's place in Templeton.) I'm glad you didn't do this in the hills before Gilroy because that always felt like a roller coaster. I bet someone would've turned green from car sickness.
I really really like that Apple is adding more buttons to the iPhone. It is a great way to add additional functionality on the fly to an area of the phone that just wasn't used before at all.
I know you guys are focusing on the Pro model, but there is one detail on the non-pro model that I was hoping you would discuss. The standard iPhone 16 uses a 26mm f1.6 as a main camera, As opposed to the 24mm f1.78 on the Pro. I much prefer 26mm to 24mm as a main camera, Curious what your thoughts would be here? Is the image quality of the Pro main camera different/better than the standard main camera? The slower lens aperture makes me think the sensor size may be bigger. But say Im cropping my 24mm to get to 26mm, maybe I’m not better off?
Are you honestly suggesting that some portion of your audience would not want to see the Japan visit video that you're proposing? Hell yeah we want to see that!
Pixel 9 was probably the biggest hardware update in years, it was just not prominently featured in the launch event. They fixed a lot of issues people had, like new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, new vapor chamber cooling, better modem. They upgraded the camera sensors, all of them are 40MP+ even the selfie camera, bigger memory (mostly because of AI), new design, etc.
And yet still only managed to put in a chipset that is slower than an Iphone 12. The Pixel launch wasn't about hardware AT ALL. It's all software. It's the same camera from last year. A low-mid-range processor and a modem. They spoke more about Gemini than hardware, an LLM that is woeful compared to it's competitors and will require a monthly subscription.
got the SL2-S packaged with the 24-70 and also had the sigma 24-70 at the same time to to an A/B test. Image wise there is a subtle difference in color and sharpness. handling wise the focus ring was a bit more tactile than the Sigma. most in RedDotForums tend to chalk the price increase up to tolerance/sample testing, enhanced coating, and the overall after sales support from Leica. I've since sold the SL2-S but kept the lens. As a standalone lease I'd definitely buy the sigma over the Leica (due to cost and the minimal differences). though I would understand why someone would want the Leica lenses if price was not of concern..
Is there a sensor size/qualityh difference for the ultrawide between the standard iphone 16 and the pro? That's quite a jump from 12mp to 48 mp. Not sure that I need the many megapixels or a telephoto on my phone.
Good video guys but I'm really diggin' the light emanating from those dome/courtesy lights. Noticeable when they become the dominant light source later in the video, just look at the light falling Chris's face back there. Forgive me but I notice these things. Very cool!
That was really useful to get the phones brightness compared by brand. My Samsung note is slowly declining, it’s about 4 years old I got it as good for photos along side my Sony cameras and use the Sony transfer and tagging app to get shots off the phone onto a 1 gig micro sd card. I’d like that feature in my next phone but does any brand still have the possibility to have microsd cards?
55:21 I definitely want to see that Japan trip happen! That’d be a great video. Also RIP to Chris’s bum; sacrificed so that we could have this week’s podcast.
Im curious why you chose to use those big microphones for recording. Wouldn't something like a headmic work better in terms of audio quality and freedom of movement?
Show me another photography show which begins with an admission of a previous lifestyle of unprotected sex. I'll wait. Actually, don't... I don't need anyone uncovering a lost podcast where Ted Forbes goes into detail about his previous life as a swinger, living free and loose. Who am I kidding... Of course I do. More than anything. What are we meant to be talking about? Oh iPhone, new button or something. Just keep my 14 Pro Max. Got it. Excellent show, fellas!
Tamron released a 28-105mm F2.8 in 1997 arguably as an update to their earlier 35-105mm F2.8 from 1992. Sigma released a fairly compact 28-105mm F2.8-4 a year earlier in 1996.
Yes, please do the Japan video of the new Nikon HQ + Museum. And of course we want to see some video of the Gachapon endeavour to get all four Nikon variants.
PetaPixel are usually quite even handed, but I didn't get the impression they have tried using a C70 or C80. Do I miss an EVF? Yes, but it is not life threatening. Would I prefer to have a camera that is both an R5 C and a C80 (R5 C Mark II)? Yes. Also: Most of the time you don't need RAW, as the compressed files (XF-AVC etc) have plenty of data for grading.
Now that Panasonic has a more reliable autofocus system, I would love to see Chris and Jordan review their S-Pro lenses. Curious to know how those lenses have held up through camera improvements since launching several years ago (especially compared to recent Sigmas). I don't think they've looked at them previously...?
100% would watch a Nikon history video from you guys, that would be great Also question you will probably answer in your iphone 16 pro full review, do you feel like having the camera button made you take more control of the pictures you took? The option to tweak how an image looks have been available on the iPhone for a while, but it was so inconvenient to use them in the moment that I almost always just snapped it the way the phone suggested and then edited after if I really wanted to try and make it look right rather than just “getting it right in camera.”
The gap between the 1x and 5x lens is just too big. I regularly need 3x to 4x "zoom", so crops on the iphone. I would have much preferred a 3x lens. If they even increase the 5x to a higher value like 8x or 10x in future iphones, I would pray for a fourth lens in between. If I could choose: UW, 1x, 3x, 8x
Note that the 2x crop is optical quality, since it then uses the Quad-Bayer sensor natively. It truly is incredible, the difference between 2x and 5x is okay!
Hey, don't forget the Pentax D FA 28-105mm... f/3.5-5.6. It's actually a good lens from what I've heard (admittedly, just after it was released). But yeah, that aperture and focal range combination is a bit limiting.
Cordless ear buds - if interested in music quality like camera quality, the only choice is corded ear buds. Never mind Astel & Kern vs using a phone (I am a long term iPhone user).
Apple would be silly to not take advantage of the faster readout speeds in the 16 Pro to improve photos and video (and maybe slow motion mode will look more accurate too!), please test this for us. Especially when recording 4K at 60 FPS, that requires very fast readout speeds to do any kind of multi exposure frame combining or similar
I think the obsession with only buying leica lenses is more of a thing with the M than the SL. I mainly shoot with Sigma and lumix lenses because they're better/cheaper/lighter.
I have the series 5 and still don’t feel like it’s a major upgrade. I do want the ultra but I don’t feel like I would get the full use out of it. I have done sprint tris, ocean swims, pool stuff but I don’t really dive or do climbing/hiking and not interested in the price tag. 😅
We need to hear more from Jaron who appears to be the most articulate and knowledgeable of the grouop. Jordan needs to turn the volume down and really we already know more than we want to about all of you. I much prefer the parts where you actually discuss cameras and the industry.
Dear Nikon, Please invite these guys to Tokyo to get some miniature Nikon cameras and review the museum. That will be awesome.
As a Nikon shooter, I would totally watch the Nikon Japan episode- seeing the museum would be super cool, and I'm sure it would be fun to watch you all try to get the Nikon miniatures and sampling the local delicacies lol.
Hey Nikon - bring the boys to your new mothership. We are dying to ride along with them!
I would love to see a 40-60 minute special Nikon history episode with you three. Would be an absolute blast 😊
The intro was so chaotic I loved every second of it
That was great! A Nikon Japan Podcast would be awesome. It would be a wonderful adventure to see the headquarters. Being a Nikon user for ten years I would be very interested. I started with a Nikon D5500 then a Nikon D850 and now a Nikon Z9.
Thank you Chris for sacrificing your comfort for our entertainment!
Chris' past could be an HBO show
I honestly can't think of any other channel that can get me to watch them driving and chatting for an hour, from a rather awkward camera angle no less. Love you guys to bits.
I can’t believe you guys are driving with the dome light on. I was told repeatedly as a child that the car would crash if the dome light was on while the car was driving.

I would love to see that Japan road trip to the Nikon headquarters with a tour of their history museum.
Go to Japan I want to see the new Nikon HQ…….long time film and digital Nikon user.
I am super down for that Nikon exclusive!!! So much history. It would be awesome!!!
I would watch a Nikon history video, especially if it means Chris and Jareon have to do all of their photography on the trip on their F series cameras.
Remember when Chris almost burnt his house down with decorations on his fireplace in a video? Good times
Those were the days.
Still waiting for the drinking game. When I found out what my last mirrorless cost I opened a few to forget.
Thought that was Chevy Chase 😂
Jordan too excited to be with his friends and forgetting to talk into the mic during the start :D
Chris didn't get the memo on wearing the similar shirt!
This is awesome podcast on the go. Loving this
That potential Nikon Japan video sounds interesting. I'd watch that.
Nikon+ PetaPixel Podcast while in Japan = Awesomeness!
I want to see the new Nikon HQ!
neat episode. I'm looking forward to learning more about the updates. I'm glad you guys aren't hyping the new camera button. Needs more testing.
Chris’s Crotch … a future podcast.
It’s been some places!
Hell, yeah! Nikon history Japan tour thingy! Can't do good word stuff cos exctiement!!!
I'm in for the Nikon in Japan vlog, make it happen guys 👍
I'll watch this Nikon video.
I’ll watch the Nikon Japan trip videos!!

Keep fighting the the FiPS Chris. If you don’t, who will?
bless the editor of this 😂
I think that's Jaron!
another classic podcast guys love it!👍
I will watch your Nikon Japan video!!
Please make the Nikon vid!

Yes on the Nikon Museum video!
That's odd... one of the selling points for my 2001 Honda Civic EX was the *lack* of a hump in the back.

Chris and Jordan, you were here in Cupertino!? I wish I knew, because I would've requested a day off to meet you two.
Let’s get that Nikon vid
I'll watch the Japan Nikon Vending Machine video
Man, I wish those miniature Nikon cameras were available back when I visited Japan in late April of this year.
got the SL2-S packaged with the 24-70 and also had the sigma 24-70 at the same time to to an A/B test. Image wise there is a subtle difference in color and sharpness. handling wise the focus ring was a bit more tactile than the Sigma.

I love the carcasts 😄
And Chris with his talk of raves - creasing
Great video
I wonder if you will still be able to use the volume button to take a photo/video in addition to pressing the new camera buttons.
You indeed can!!!
Is there a sensor size/qualityh difference for the ultrawide between the standard iphone 16 and the pro? That's quite a jump from 12mp to 48 mp. Not sure that I need the many megapixels or a telephoto on my phone.
Next time you should invite some live guests to your car-cast :)
I always knew Chris was wild. He could never fool me🤣
Love these "Car-casts"!!
Good video guys but I'm really diggin' the light emanating from those dome/courtesy lights. Noticeable when they become the dominant light source later in the video, just look at the light falling Chris's face back there. Forgive me but I notice these things. Very cool!
now I wanna photograph raves with Chris lol
even on tech professionals the non replacable batteries still gets people to change to a newer model
I feel like a rode wireless go pro 32bit audio recording would be better in a sit like this instead of shures and mic stands.
What a hoot guys! So much fun.
Fips might be Chris' greatest bit yet

lol why wouldn't you use a rode wireless or Hollyland mic
yea I mean I'm watching 3 dudes talk in a car, I would totally watch them in Japan
55:21 I definitely want to see that Japan trip happen! That’d be a great video. Also RIP to Chris’s bum; sacrificed so that we could have this week’s podcast.
Chris is a rave guy! Love it. Any shots with Phat Pants my friend?
Luckily there weren’t any digital cameras around then to document my majesty!
@@niccollsvideo love your work Chris. Don’t let anyone bring you down mate 👍🏻
Chris is just lighting up on Leica gear ‘ he’s not priced out yet .. 45Grad of sun ..⛅️ Chris nickles from the camera store 😅tv .

Nikon museum sounds fun
This one was hilarious. Loved the intro.
Yes Lets do that video
I will watch the Nikon video!!!!!
Yes go to Japan would be a great video and liked this video great change of pace.

@@janbonne thanks for the encouragement! We're taking a long climbing trip next month and will hopefully get a lot of good footage, uploads to follow

105mm is such an underrated focal length . Sigma is 105 1.4 still amazing
A visit to Nikon hq with a museum would tour be amazing to see!
Car-casts are great. Feels like you sit in the car with them.
I don't know anything about Nikon, so an episode all about Nikon could be nice...
Yes, please do the Japan video of the new Nikon HQ + Museum. And of course we want to see some video of the Gachapon endeavour to get all four Nikon variants.
Welcome to our neck of the woods! Make sure to take a selfie with Lettuce Balls on Highway 68!!! lol
C80 is gonna be GREAT. I do however wonder if we will see DGO again . Probably in a new c300 or c500 ? - ow and c80 will have raw over hdmi.
