- A speedrun of Half-Life: Source by Maltemller and actionstorm in the time of 16:47:88 on Easy difficulty.
Runner notes:
Presenting the segmented speedrun of Half-Life: Source.
Upon inception of a Half-Life: Source speedrun, very few strats or glitches were known within the game. Within a few months, Maltemller and actionstorm had found enough new glitches and routes to bring the final time of the run down to under 17 minutes! The run started mid-2018 and finished in February 2020, with a time of 16:47.88; much lower then the original estimate.

I like to think that Half-Life: Source was just Valve saying "Look how easy it is to port GoldSrc games! We did this over the weekend!"
I'm pretty sure that half life source was specifically made to demonstrate how easy it was to port games
But valve doesn’t work over the weekends!

Picture this. You're an HECU soldier stationed at a base in New Mexico. You're sitting in the barracks, listening to some music. As you think about your wife and kids, you get the inclination to look up, only to see your squad mates up and rushing. You take out your earbuds to hear a voice screaming over a megaphone. It's hard to understand, but that doesn't matter, you know exactly what's going on. You think to yourself, "Hell yeah! Some action!" 30 minutes later, and you can see the massive complex that is black mesa from your helicopter. You swear you just saw a faint glimmer in the distance, dancing around strangely, accompanied by a hint of orange. As you arrive at the base, everyone seems a little disoriented regarding the time. Some swear they just got here a minute ago, like you, while others swear they have been here for a day,. You do, however have a small bit of knowledge regarding the situation, so you and your fellow grunts assume it has to do with the anomalous on-goings here. As the area buzzes with the action of soldiers preparing barriers and supplies, you are ordered inside the facility. You make your way up to where they tell you you're stationed. Not 10 minutes after arriving, you hear a sudden, brash noise. First, the screaming of 2 of your best mates as they are pulverized and stepped on. Then an explosion. You turn around to see a theoretical physicist wielding a .357 magnum flying at you, and your commander rushing away. Before you can so much as let out a shriek, you feel a sharp pain followed by a blinding white light. You sit there in utter shock regarding what just happened and where you are. After a good minute of sitting, and looking around you, it hits you that you just died. What? How? Why? Who? When?
It doesn't matter. You just got freeman'd.
"Hell yeah! Some action!" 30 minutes later speedrunner actionstorm flies past you and teleports through a wall :)

Even the speedrunners are so hard-hit by the quarantine they're running the worst versions of good games. Half-Life 2 Japanese Arcade edition when?
I don't think you've ever played the PS2 port...
@@VinVonVoom HALF LIFE SOURCE ON PS2?
Well, the japanese arcade version is just original but with different UI. That would be similar to original speedrun
Yes, Please That port is actually pretty good. There’s an option to use a USB KB&M if you don’t like the controls. There’s enhanced graphics, 16:9 (WON didn’t have this at the time), a new game (Decay), new multiplayer maps for the DM mode, and some level tweaks that enhance the game.
@@theobserver4214 Wish someone would make a PC port of the PS2 port, so we can rake in the benefits that port has.
I'm so glad this vod made most of the songs continue to play after loads, makes the viewing experience 10 times better.
yeah I spent a lot of time adding in the songs at good times to make it smooth. it really improves the vid
