    Despite what people said about this entry of Final Fantasy I think they did a absolute incredible job with this one. If you need any prove for that if any game could make you feel strong emotions its generally a great game and this game DEFINITELY delivered that.

    FF16 had some lows - like every FF in existence- but some of the greatest highs in the whole franchise. It’s so rare to play a triple A game that feels like a genuine work of love.

    Small bit of perspective on the whole "Dion blaming himself" thing. The reason he's so happy and content is that he finally feels like he has the ability to take accountability for his mistakes and do good going forward. He's always been a man without power despite being incredibly strong. First he was controlled by Sebastian, then Olivier. In spite of it being because of Ultima's machinations, it was HIS choice to lash out at Olivier in anger. Not only his father, but his people paid the price for it. By taking accountability, he's acknowledging the role he played in that tragedy and taking control of the situation from his perspective.
    "You should make your own choices," is the central theme of the game. "Choose how to live," is Clive's take on that theme if you recall. "A bad choice, no matter how catastrophic, does not negate the meaningfulness of your good choices," is Dion's contribution to the theme. You should take responsibility for your bad decisions, even if the setting for the choice wasn't within your control. After doing that, you should make sure not to repeat your mistake, and try to make better choices. This is why Dion constantly reminds himself of his guilt towards the people of the Empire and why he took action to gather his Dragoons and come to Byron's rescue.

    It's still crazy (and sad) that the VA for Uncle Byron had two VA's. The first VA was the VA for Edmont Fortemps in FF14, but halfway through recording 16 he passed away so they had to replace him. Also Yoshi P was producer not director.

    The Difference with Dion Crystal is that he is a Knight, Chivalry is his Calling!
    And Ultima used him as a pawn to kill his own people. That is a pain to him and an offense to his honor. If he is trying to please everyone, that is because he wants to do that. It is his nature. To atone for the power he has.

    I feel sooo much for crystal when she said she was going to let out a good scream because I couldn’t do that . And let me tell you way i don’t play a lot on ps5 as mush since i got my pc so when 16 come out i immediately bulldoze my brothers room where the PS 5 is and I told them I’m going to start playing the game. so I started playing the game we had a week vacation because of holiday so my brothers were at the room a lot of the time so when I reached the last Bossfight, where you have to do the whole shebang with the last boss I had to pause because dinner came and then I went to eat dinner with my family.
    Then my brothers immediately fell asleep after dinner and the PlayStation was still on on my safe and I swore I would not fall asleep until I finished the game so I put my headset on open the game and finished it while they were asleep and I had to hold onto all of my screams cries, my frustration until I finish the game and saw the credits in the end credit scene close the PlayStation went back to my room, scream to hell and back, and then immediately open Discord, and went to crying again with my friends to finish the game so yeah.
    and then fell asleep around 7 am from exhaustion, so I feel you CrystAAHHL 😭😭😭😭

    Here's my thoughts - Clive lived, and Dion lived - unfortunately Joshua probably did die.... but what I think they tried to set up here was a spinoff with Dion and DLC with Clive. They built up Dion's character way too much to have it end there, and as for Clive, well, we saw the book at the end, so we know either he or Joshua lived, and it makes way more sense to suppose that Clive did.

    Aaaaaaand now we have the ending that absolutely broke my heart. It's perfect, 10/10, would cry again... Okay, did cry again rewatching it, lol. FF really needed a big hit after how 15 launched, and they nailed it. This game took all of my expectations and knocked them out of the park and almost topped FF7R for my favorite FF game, and it probably would've if Ultima was just a bit more interesting. And even that's me nitpicking, I absolutely love this game.

    If Square was Atlus we could see a remade version/relaunch with more character development, but that ain't happening.

    I think people are harsh with FF in general : XV royal edition story was great, XIV is amazing, XIII trilogy could have been better but is not bad. I mean if you compare FF with other franchises like Fire Emblem, imo there are less bad titles in FF than in FE for example. As for XVI, i liked it a lot but not my favorite for two reasons : the female characters lacked depth compared to their male counterparts (Annabella is just evil, Benedickta is not enough used and i wanted more for Jill cause she is so interesting but her role fades away in the second part of the game) and the pacing could have been better. But there are Cid, Dion and Joshua who are probably the best written FF sub-characters since FFX ones, maybe even FFIX.

    • @TarundiMC
      @TarundiMC Год назад +3

      Yeah I agree. IMO Benedickta was the strongest written female character in the game and they killed her off too early. Jill was shaping up to be one of my favorites in the first half, but turned into a damsel in distress trope after she got kidnapped *twice*, and then basically got sidelined as simply a love interest instead of a central character.
      I think for me, it's hard because the highs of the game are so high, that the lows felt so much worse by contrast, compared to if they did the same things in a game that didn't have the amazing highs. It's an amazing flawed game that's like a 8.5/10 when it could have easily been a 10/10 with some tweaks.

  • @Renoistic
    @Renoistic 10 месяцев назад

    I liked the game overall but it was about 30 hours too long so at the end I felt more numb than emotional. It didn't help that every single major female character was either killed or sidelined so they could give the blacksmith 3+ sidequests. And the gameplay simply wasn't good or deep enough to support such a long game. And why did everyone talk so slowly all the time? It's like they thought the story was written for 5 year-olds so they told all the VAs to speak as slowly as possible. I DO appreciate how fleshed out alot of the NPCs were, but that shouldn't come at the expense of the major characters. Honestly while it's a better game than XV, that game's ending actually made me more emotional, especially with the last campfire scene.

    Ugh, I have so many mixed feelings about FFXVI.
    What I liked:
    Most of the story.
    Most of the characters (not the Hoddor clone).
    The battle system.
    What I hated:
    The side-quests are freaking awful to do because it's just the same thing over and over again, 50 times.
    The endless suffering with no real reward in the narrative.
    Dion's death was unnecessary. Mostly because it didn't have any impact on the overall result. He went there, saved no one, prolonged the ending scene, and died. Clive could have got the power of friendship (brotherhood) without him dying and he didn't do any real damage to Ultima.
    The whole scene of Clive using the Phoenix power on Joshua was extra. I know these games love to push an ambiguous ending to get fans theorizing, but the whole scene was just there to keep the legacy of Final Fantasy games refusing to have a proper resolution. Squall, Zidane, Tidus, Balthier, Noctis, and now Clive... Can't they just stop? It was interesting at first, but now it feels like they don't know how to conclude a story without ambiguity.
    While I liked most characters I ended up liking side characters such as Martha, the Dame, and Theodore waaaaaaaay more than Gav, Mid, Jill, Tomes, or other NPCs from the base... And that feels wrong. They were all charisma, with almost no development.
    Either way, better than XV, but nowhere near the best 10 games of the year for me.
