Tammy Peterson welcomes guest, Jonathan Pageau, once again to have their last serial discussion on matters of Catholicism. They speak on the significance of Christ’s wounds and how the glory there can be applied to the lives of spirit-led believers. They also touch on the nature of conversion (metanoia), joy found in suffering, and more.
Jonathan Pageau is a French Canadian symbolic thinker, RUclipsr, editor of the Orthodox Arts Journal, an eastern orthodox icon carver extraordinaire, and explorer of how (underlying) symbolic patterns emerge, develop, and finally manifest in religion, art, pop culture, etc.

I've returned to my Catholic faith thanks to Jonathan. And thanks to your husband who introduced Jonathan to many of us. God bless.
Have you considered Eastern Orthodoxy that Jonathan practices? Just wandering...
Welcome back home.
@@Orm-zn6fl I love Jonathan Pageau's work, and I really like a number of Orthodox thinkers... What keeps Orthodox Christianity at arms length for me is how rarely I see Catholicism accurately described by Orthodox Christians. I don't love genuine disagreements between Catholics and Orthodox Christians, but strawman arguments hurt the worst. I don't think it's usually intentional, but it's frequent.
@@FrJohnBrownSJ Jonathan to his credit never did this as long as I know, and I watched and read plenty of his videos and articles. Despite having some problems with catholic doctrines and additions to creed and recent inventions like immaculate conception , I don't have an authority to argue with them.)May God bless you
@@Orm-zn6fl Yes, Jonathan is pretty good about it. He mostly talks about Orthodox Christianity in distinction from Protestantism, and is usually spot on. And Jonathan gives a lot of Credit to Catholic tradition post-schism like medieval piety, the works of Dante, and Tolkien. Let's pray through the intercession of the Early Church Fathers for each other!
She just sounds like one of the sweetest Ladies in the universe I appreciate Your families work bless y'all
Talk to a good priest, Tammy! And consider next year's Easter Season (Lent for preparation) a possible time for RCIA if between then and now you feel the strong pull towards receiving the Living Christ. However, don't feel pressured; with God, as long as you are breathing, it is never too late. He is always waiting with open arms and He knows your path better than you do. What matters is the loving, and the choosing. And that is what you are doing, day by day. Well, you know....talk to Queenie! ;) Bless you and Mr. Pageau. Thanks for the episode. xo
This’s so wonderful! Thank you for sharing.🙏🏼
A new subscriber, I am delighting in your conversations with Jonathan Pageau (new to me) but, contrary to him, I want to assure you that you CAN continue the “magical” in everyday experience. I refer to your bus-appearing-when- you-were-hungry story. Decades ago my husband and I were struggling financially as I ghostwrote in secrecy. I was bitter about the seemingly silly prayers and complaints of other parishioners while I could not publicly share mine. One evening as I prepared supper I felt the rage you describe and I shared it with my husband when he arrived home. Why can’t we even have a decent sofa!?, I exploded, and I described to him the perfect model for our ‘20’s home. Maybe, he responded, you should walk around the corner -the folks who just moved in were dragging out to the curb one just like you describe. . .
These happen everyday. A wise old lady told me God loves a childlike spirit
I gotta say Tammy, I just finished your videos with Jonathan and they are my favorite! That might be because he is one of my favorites! He and Jordan helped open my eyes and renew my faith. Its been amazing. The wonderful feelings of joy and gratitude that wash through me are amazing!
Interesting conversation. Fasting and suffering leading to creativity and spiritual abundance is so counter-intuitive to our modern and post-modern way of thinking yet it is something we really need to hear especially today.
Love Tammy and love Jonathan
I love how all the Petersons are starting a RUclips channel 💪
Hey Tammy!
I met you in Minneapolis this year and it was truly an honor. This was a wonderful conversation, Jonathan has so much wisdom. I especially love it when he talks about fractals. I also especially enjoy your calm energy and insightful and quizzical nature. ❤
During Vespers last week when we were singing the 6th Prokeminon, “the Lord is King! He is robed in majesty!” I looked over at the large full body crucifix and I understood that His Blood that was pouring out and covering his body IS His robe of majesty!!!
Sometimes while holding the Eucharist in my mouth for a moment while standing right under the crucifix, I gaze at his wounds which do look like jewels and sometimes it seems like God is looking out at me from inside the wounds…🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻 peace be with you!
💛💛💛 Wow! I stumbled across this conversation and your channel, dear Tammy, and was actually about to go on, due to prejudices I had, as to what spiritual depths I would possibly encounter in this video. ... BUT God had other plans, because I listened! And God forgive me!!!! .....I was moved to tears and joy, at SO many places in this conversation and am so humbled (once again) on how and where God is moving today, by His Holy Spirit, in this world!!!! Oh dear, it's so beautiful to hear what God has been doing in Tammy's life .....and I've just discovered Jonathan through this! The conversation was so, so uplifting!!! It's just so obvious that God is doing something in both your lives! That is (still at least) rare today....so many hearts are still so hard and closed towards God.... but God has His ways ...💛
As someone who's come out of and been raised in traditional evangelicalism, and been led out of the institutional church ca. 12 years ago, by Jesus Himself into ab alone- time with Him (wilderness period), I've wondered where else, in what hearts He's been moving - well I see it here!
As to 'churches' / buildings which are labelled 'church' - So many institutional churches / gatherings are spiritually so dead! Unless God specifically leads anyone to go to these institutions, I would recommend seeking Jesus daily alone and growing in this core relationship, reading the Bible, learning to pray ... learning to be led by the Holy Spirit.... until Jesus connects you with His true followers. Not everyone that attends a so called 'church' has a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ, or even wants one. Discernment is greatly needed as to where a sincere seeker of Jesus Christ, should go to receive spiritual food or spiritual advice! There are enough wolves, clothed with sheep's clothing, willing to lead Christ's lambs!
Jesus will show the right way, if we listen carefully! It's just so important to stay by His side, learning to abide in Him.... forever 💛
May God bless you richly Tammy and may you grow IN JESUS CHRIST and knowing Him 💛 HE is our most beautiful King, saviour, councelor, lover of our soul!
Thank you for your comment and encouragement
Tammy is a wonderful embodiment of the archetypal feminine. We often associate her with her husband, but operates in a plane of her own.
I had a sort of vision at the beginning of the pandemic wherein I saw myself nailing Jesus to the cross, and He was smiling down at me. I immediately saw that gratitude must be my core motivational source of embracing and living according to His love. Just as I do things for my wife because I love her because I'm grateful for her, I should also live a life that is evident of my love for (founded upon my gratitude for) Christ and all He's done for me.
Wow thank you for sharing such a powerful experience with Christ. Indeed it would be love emanating from Jesus towards the people who nailed him to the cross, because they were acting in accordance with the wishes and will of the divine... I too had experiences in lockdown so I'm with you brother xxx❤
Dear Tammy,
Thank you for your openness and honesty - qualities that provide valuable insight into many questions I have and serve as excellent teaching.
The way you communicate creates a sense of intimacy and familiarity, both online when watching your dialogues and in person - just like when we met in Stockholm this June. Even though I had not been very familiar with you before the event, you left me with a profound feeling of connection; that, coupled with meeting your husband, was an experience that took me a few weeks to recover from.
I sincerely wish you all the best and hope to see you again.
Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated
Love these conversations! I've been thinking much about suffering and partaking in the suffering of Christ. I think suffering in our lives is often no more part of, or obstacle to Gods will than a stage is part of or obstacle to a play.
What an incredible and merciful God to come in flesh and share in our suffering...
To many people (and at times myself) it’s ‘too good to be true’ that God loves us that much, lived as one of us, and suffered for us. It’s an obstacle for many, the Good News being ‘too good to be true’. But it is true. As Dr Scott Hahn said, “It is too good to be true, unless it is true… and it IS!”
“For the first time my German nationality felt wrong, like something I had to apologize for. Luckily I was well camouflaged-thanks to my dark skin, nobody suspected I was German.”-My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me(Chapter 1)
I experience these little wonders every day! As I cultivate prayer and stillness and connection with Christ! I feel that I constantly live in a Kingdom of miracles! Praise God! 🙏🏻☦️🙏🏻
You guys are awesome. I love that your thoughts lead Jonathan into a realm he might not necessarily tap into due to his eastern roots, but he’s as eloquent as if were steeped in that world anyway. I particularly loved him speaking of the rosary (in your earlier podcast) from the viewpoint of the smaller prayers being fractals. Keep up the good work!
Praying for the whole world is very important! Read St Sophrony’s book on St Silouan and read other books by St Sophrony “We Shall See Him as He Is” and “His Life is Mine.”
Yes! We all need more bouncieness for shure.
Great thanks
thanks
This is really consoling. Thank you so much for making this video.
My understanfing is that taking communion when you aren't ready is like a betrayal. Almost like taking in the spirit of Judas. At the Last Supper, Satan entered Judas when he consumed the holy host... so if you aren't in a state of grace, receiving the sacraments can harm your soul.
Mrs. Peterson, if you find yourself in New Orleans, please visit liturgy at St. Nicholas Myra. St. We're an Eastern Catholic mission church, and the only Ruthenian church in the state. We're small, with only 20 or so regular attendees. We would love for you to join us some Sunday.
We're actually quite lucky, as well, our priest teaches at the Notre Dame Seminary, so the conversations afterwards are always so wonderful.
My husband (Matt) and I met Mr. Pageau in Chicago at St. John Cantius. He may remember us as the couple who married on our first date (Dr. Peterson's debate with Zizek, April 19, in Toronto).
I am spending most of today listening to your content while cleaning. Thank you for standing up as a public figure and example. 🙏
Keep these conversations going....please!
Wonderful interview. What a wealth of knowledge Jonathan has. It is very special that your Faith has had such a positive impact on your husband and daughter's Faith. Their platforms can reach millions (and I see yours is steadily growing too)! To hear Dr. Peterson speaking about the crucifixion of Christ on Joe Rogan was awe-inspiring. Keep up the great work. God Bless.
I wish Orthodox churches were open during the day! I miss that from when I was Roman Catholic from 2006-2014 when I came into Orthodoxy…
I pray for the Peterson family 🙏
Thank you Much appreciated
Brave to have continued on the meat diet despite being potentially scared off it by the doctor's advice, I know how good that diet and variants of it can be but most people would've been swayed by that. Very easily. The doctors are good for what the doctors are good for, but they do seem to very regularly transgress the boundaries of their field of expertise. In my opinion anyway. It seemed like only a few weirdos on the internet knew about the ketosis diets so when I found out the Petersons do it i thought that was brilliant, and all three of them have come back from serious health troubles/the brink of death which also lends a lot of credibility. Especially as all this vegan wishful thinking is pushed our way.
Love that this has revealed more of Mrs Peterson having pushed through this spiritual experience & given us all a new angle on these interesting conversations. Well done fam 🦋 seriously brilliant 🤍
Thank you for your comments ❤️
Beautiful! I learned so much
I’ve seen the Uncreated Light coming out of peoples eyes when I’m in the Spirit. Last week there were sparks of light coming from my priests lips as he gave the homily. Sounds crazy but the more I continually spend hours in the day in prayer repenting with tears the more light I see!
Excited to find your channel. I’ve been praying for you and Dr Peterson. Makes my heart happy for your desire to receive the Eucharist. Please look into RCIA. Maybe you can do a distance formation and find a parish who can administer the sacraments at Easter even though you travel. If you need help with formation I’d be happy to help. 🙏✝️❤️🔥
God bless you Tammy!
Tammy I love the way your faith is growing. I was an atheist until 12 years ago. It has taken me all of this time to really feel His love to the depths. Your exploration into the deeper spiritual side is valuable to me. Have you studied Fenelon and Guyon? They are such a blessing! If you ever have a chance, my faith journey was recently featured on the Late June edition of the Side B Stories podcast. We are nearly the same age by the way. Stacy from Michigan
Thanks for your reply. I will look up your podcast and give it a listen

It's always fun watching you and Jonathan. May I make a suggestion?
I've been thinking about it for a while, and you have an unused strength.
It was kind of hard to believe, because there's so much talent in your family. Between Mikhaila, who is a podcasting natural, Jordan the doctor, Julian the musician/IT guru and all your family is already stacked.
That's why I was blown away to realize you have such a gift. In an age when those in the highest halls of power can't even define what woman is, you exude femininity. Whenever I see a video with your gal friends I get a feminine vibe that makes The View appear generically butch.
And, in an age where strong feminine role models are just as in demand as strong masculine ones, you have credibility in the full range of expression.
You've been a single woman, a wife, a mother to successful children who have overcome incredible challenges to succeed, and a grandmother. You've also been an entrepreneur in various fields and successful in your own right. Your husband comes from a female dominated field, making him a positive resource you can pull from. You're hitting the credibility ball out of the park with your embarrassment of riches.
Women have only recently come fully into the public sphere in a lot of ways following the invention of appliances. With advances in production the classical division of labor to survive no longer has the hold it used to. I can think of no one better than yourself to explore what it means to be fully woman today.
I love this comment. I’ve been listening a lot to Marion Woodman, trying to learn about positive femininity, and you’re so right, Tammy exudes it! You can even see how her presence changes Jonathan from how he usually is, bringing out another part of him we don’t usually get to see. It’s really special, all the way around.
Excellent!
Hello Tammy, that was so in lighting you sharing. What a beautiful journey like the saying goes. We cannot undo God ( our Father ) in generosity. We also become so much more aware that the longest journey is from the head to the heart. Look up the word Metanoia it is where the transformation happens, the mind finally is able to slip into the heart and we then start seeing differently, feeling differently and loving with the mind and heart of Jesus. The encounter of the flaming, loving furnace of Jesus Most Sacred Heart, His purifying love which you describe beautifully. So very grateful that you are reaching to your sisters in Christ. So much more to say.. Shalom, Pax in the Risen Lord always
"The West was marked by centuries of a tradition of the word, but the Word can only live through experience in the Holy Spirit. Experience is a name of the Holy Spirit. When Christ says "Come and see," he invites us to an experience of the Word. It is said that the disciples 'remained' with Him. That is the spiritual experience. Silent prayer, inner prayer, liturgical prayer, this is where the Word becomes experience, for a transformation, a transference to His Presence always there in our depths. So when there awakens within us that which is unique, the Person, there is also the grace of a community where this experience can be pursued, the human being on the way to deification (theosis)....The experience is fundamental and foundational for the New Man. Orthodoxy is this very person who little by little gives glory (doxa) to God in an authentic way and is able to stand in the midst of all the distress we see around us. I never considered Orthodox Christianity as just another church. It is a return to the Source where all Christians can rediscover themselves without betraying their traditions."

Talented, bright and a joy to experience. God bless you both and your loved ones
This is great. I didn’t even know Tammy had started a channel!
I thought it was pretty cool how Jonathan used the "host" analogy when Christ is called the "Lord of hosts". I know that host has a different meaning in that context but it's fun how language has a way of playing into your hands sometimes

I have a question for Jhonatan and you guys. When the mother of Jesus, Mary says on the wedding: "They dont have wine" Could that be interpeted as that the world did not have the Holy Blood of The Christ?
Many gave their blood before, but the best blood came until the end.
What do you think? Am I talking crazy here?
That's a good question. I always saw that as somehow connected to the wine of the mass.
I have never made that connection. Thats wonderful to ponder upon.
You are INSANE, how could you understand that? The wine is indeed His blood, and yes it was always israelites sacrifices their own lambs (aka try to provide their own wine) till Jesus came and make them realize, if it is not God Himself sacrificed His own life, it was not the best.
If I did not read your comment, i'd never be able to ponder the connection. God bless you!
C.S. Lewis's metanoia experience was articulated in "Surprised by Joy". Something similar happened to the political philosopher George Grant. The template established by St. Paul is not as uncommon as one may assume.
Love your discussions Mrs Peterson! Have you reached out to Bishop Barron, i think he would really like to talk to you, after he made reference to you about the Rosary on a JBP podcast. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

Yeah the combination of Jonathan explain a beautiful principle/pattern. And Tammy’ deeply feeled experiences with the principle/pattern. Are a deadly...
If you are interested in receiving the Eucharist, you should talk to a priest about the Rite of Christian Initiation as an Adult (RCIA). I went through it years ago and I now help lead others through it in my parish. If you have questions about it before talking to a priest, I am happy to help answer any that I can.

Tammy, you really should consider Western Rite Orthodoxy. We have the same faith as Johnathan, but in the Western tradition of Pope Saint Gregory The Great! We say the Rosary, Too. May Saint Olaf, the First Enlightener of your Ancestors, enlighten you further towards the True Church.

I looked up the WRO. My initial thoughts concern the splitting off from the original litergy might impose.

While the teachings found in the prosperity gospel are woefully insufficient on their own, I believe they have their proper place and aren't necessarily inherently horrid. I do find the lack of space for more of the symbolic deeply unfortunate in many modern churches. I've tried to explain this to some folks in my church (that there may be a valid space for iconography and majestic beautification of the physical church), but it's mostly been met with what I assumed it would be met with: fear of idolatry/misplacement of worship onto objects rather than the Creator. I know where they are coming from (having spent the first 20 years of my Christian life in that frame), it's now regrettable to me that we have such a barrier preventing us from participating in the creation of and appreciation of representations of His glory in the form of iconography, architecture, and the like. We do it with our own houses, but are afraid to do it for the place we use as a hall of fellowship and refinement in His name.
Hi Tammy, what is the name of Jonathan's brother's book? Thank you for your work and I hope Dr. Peterson keeps getting better.

God confronts you with your what ever enslaves you every day; Tammy is on spot to what we must do: Stand stil and ask through prayer for strength so you can take the pain. It can even happen for long periods as a year or so, just like my vpcase and after god transformed my world and I found myself in a way to serve him full of glory in a story I dreamed of serving him on. It was full magic and I immediately knew that it had been god transforming my way to serve him through being a dad and husband of a single mothe. I was asking for responsibility in my world out of it basically and weak in meaning, and oh my god did he fill my world. Now I am trining to live up to what he want in this new world, But it is funny because my soon to be wife doesn’t understand very well how I saw so soon in our story what that I was to want to marry her and be father of her child.
John is correct in that it is dangerous to recieve the Blessed Sacrament of Holy Communion. (He is fully present in the Sacrament.) if you are not Catholic and in the state of Grace (having visited the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession.) Although It does appear to be a wafer and wine and tastes so, the host is indeed, Jesus.)

See Revelation 7:9-17
The wounds inflicted on Jesus, it seems, have been recorded and portrayed in sanitised and minimised form. In actuality, Jesus was horrifically tortured far more than is evident on any of the cross images or symbols that I have ever seen.
It is perhaps thus, because we are not able to countenance the reality without being traumatised.

That mythical story of a savior coming to earth to free humanity from sin, existed long before the word Jesus ever existed.
From the book … The World’s Sixteen Crucified Saviors … Christianity before Christ, by Kersey Graves … first published in 1875.
and finally these twenty Jesus Christs (accepting their character for the name) laid the foundation for the salvation of the world, and ascended back to heaven.

35. Mohammud, or Mahomet, of Arabia.
These have all received divine honors, have nearly all been worshiped as Gods, or sons of Gods; were mostly incarnated as Christs, Saviors, Messiahs, or Mediators; not a few of them were reputedly born of virgins; some of them filling a character almost identical with that ascribed by the Christian’s bible to Jesus Christ; many of them like him, are reported crucified; and all of them, taken together, furnish a prototype and parallel for nearly every important incident and wonder-inciting miracle, doctrine and precept recorded in the New Testament, of the Christian’s Savior. Surely, with so many Saviors the world cannot, or should not, be lost.

can a protestant receive Eucharist in Catholic church?
My understanding is if you are baptised, you can receive the Eucharist
No. If you are not a Catholic, you are not supposed to receive communion in a Catholic mass, regardless of if you've been baptized or not. They practice closed communion, meaning only confirmed members can participate.
Perhaps a better answer would be... why do you want to receive? And if you desire it over a protestant communion service (symbolism) why? And if you can make those distinctions perhaps you may want to consider becoming catholic...
@@jaispera thank you, yes, precisely, I LITERALLY believe in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, which automatically should make me a Catholic. My resistance is to go through the conversion process, which seem to me unnecessary because I`ve been studying Catholicism every day for about 3 years now and in my heart I truly, truly believe in the Catholic tradition, except the need to be converted officially, which seem to me the need for acceptance by farisees...
@@everitadave hmmm. The reason you might want to be catholic is because of how confession, and reconciliation, are linked to our eucharistic Lord. St Paul warns against receiving the body and blood unworthily.... so you need a good confession (which is the grace of forgiveness from God and the church through the ministry of the priest, acting in the person of Christ) before you receive Jesus in holy communion.
What is wrong with Dr. Peterson that would necessitate separation from his wife?

Havent yet listened whole video just intro, but wanted to share my view.. suffering can be aplied to life advancment, but to prise it or incomparate it in daily life would be huge mistake.. better build life from abondance/strenght mindset than 'suffering'.. that path leads to dark place.. just my thoughts.
