Thanks, notice all the bear vids, each one has different info, or perspectives ... That's just in bears...lol! Trying to cover the bases, then get into other subjects...
Thanks alot for the work u put into these Video’s Any chance u can one about tuning the chains ? I been cutting trees fore about 16 years And ure vids about taking of the backs of the chain blew my mind 😂. Gows agains most of wat i learnd but hel it works great
Trimming the backs is against normal chain use needs. It not only shortens the usability of a chain, but it let's the cutters wander, meaning the chain can cut well straight, if held straight, or it can cut well in pinch, and twist situations. The drag of the tail of a stock chain helps it to stay straight, on its own. So the theory in carving is reduce drag, and you increase leverage, and torque, and reduce heat build up. So you may be litterally cutting the use life of a chain in half, but you actually are prolonging it's life, and the life of all the connected parts, bar, sprocket, and saw, when you cut down on heat build up.
I've tried making a few chain vids, I'm just so bad at explaining it, and making it not be a six hour long video, lol... I need to do short videos, focusing on one part, and getting good footage. Takes me a long time to do iether well. Lol...
Great question, this one is not pine, its spruce. I some times use spruce because its readily available...I have many videos on wood curing, and choosing good wood, processing wood, I touch base on spruce wood, and will be getting more into showing hard wood videos, but so much to get through just with one wood, I wanted to cover pine first, as it's such a common, easy wood to work with.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I've not been happy with my bears, until now! Helped me out ALOT!!
Is the Stihl MSE 170C a good saw to buy for carving. Thanks

Well done man, you are a master with that power saw. Learning lots from your vids. From Newfoundland.
