    Coming from newfoundland, it is plain to see our folk music is heavily influenced by the old country, great job, nice to see the 4 stop still going across the pond.

    Great altogether. Eflat puts a nice tone into it. I heard Darren Breslin and Brid Harper play it in Cmajor. That has a nice sound also.

    Hi, there! You're a great player. We at Zeke & The Kiddos in the US are looking for somebody to record the melodeon parts for an original Irish shanty in our production. The arrangement is already written. Dare you become a session musician? Let us know! Thanks so much in advance.

      There are a lot of nice melodeon albums out there today! Johnny Connolly's albums are great - An tOileán Aerach, Driobal na fáinleoige and An Mileodeon Scaoilte. There are lots more. Old-time records has an amazing double CD of Peter Conlon recorded in the 1920s. There are many more!!

    Lovely vision of an old classic, Diarmuid. Is Emanuelle Pariselle supplying the Irish trad market with a specific melodeon?

    • @diarmuidomeachair900
      @diarmuidomeachair900  3 года назад +2

      Thanks! Not sure what you mean by your question. He could build you anything you wanted if you asked him. He's a fantastic maker. His melodeons are the nicest I've played.

      @@diarmuidomeachair900 Apologies for not following up your reply. I'd seen a video of Emanuelle Pariselle leading a residential workshop in the Pyrenees where the participants were taught to make their own accordion in a week. Then I saw the name again on your Devanney's Goat upload and thought that maybe EP was being sold widespread in Ireland. By the mid eighties Bertrand Gaillard was targeting Ireland to sell his new accordion and I wondered if EP had done likewise. This a link to a 1985 video of BG and a colleague observing P.J. Hernon and Brendan Begley playing his accordion at CCÉ headquarters:

      Once Joe Burke had bought a customised model from FB...
      Thanks for replying.

    Lovely!!!
    Is that instrument easier to play than a BC box?

    • @diarmuidomeachair900
      @diarmuidomeachair900  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! It depends on your own personal experience really. Both are very different in terms of fingering, control of the bellows and movement in general. I feel that some tunes suit one more than the other and then there are some tunes that suit both quite well. It's a question that deserves more than a quick reply and I guess everyone will have their own opinion on it. Do you play yourself?

    • @other2535
      @other2535 3 года назад

      @@diarmuidomeachair900 I used to play a BC but I was thinking like yiu that some tunes are more suited to each and some to both, but that accordion sounds awful sweet and you play it brilliantly. I wish I had it.
      What is it and where did you get it? Thanks
