Lovely. The triplets remind me of when my aunt used to feed her turkeys out of her hand but there was always at least one turkey who took three quick bites while the others just took one.Triplets are a bit like that😂
Waoow! Sarah hadn’t uploaded new stuffs in 2 months. Glad you have Paul 😎 My favourite version so far would be from Johnny Connolly, but yours can come in my top 5-7 :) Seen John O’Horan doing a strange version with Emma O’Sullivan brush sean-nós dancing on it too. Cheers Paul! Hope there is not too much flooding in Northern England.
Hi, Paul! You're a great player. We at Zeke & The Kiddos in the US are looking for somebody to record the accordion parts for an original Irish song in our production. The arrangement is already written. Dare you become a session musician? Let us know! Thanks so much in advance.
I love the videos Paul, but I'd especially love to see you show us how to get those triplets. I really have tried, and I just about manage to fake them with a combination of jerky bellows movements and double tapping the button. But how on earth do you do it with two fingers so accurately?
You have got to rely on developing muscle memory. So start the triplet real slow until you can do it without thinking, then build your speed on that good foundation.
Hey Paul I’m from Newfoundland and taught myself to play when I was 14 (now 30). I learned by ear and have never been taught anything and find my playing has sort of hit a plateau. I also do not know how all of the base buttons work, I tend to use only the outside row as none of the inside row seems to sound well with any of the treble keys LOL. Do you have any advice for how I can improve my playing and understand the instrument better?
I must have watched each of your videos a hundred times, I love them. May I ask why you play a lot of your tunes on a D/G and not B/C which is more common for trad music?
As a very basic rule, you can use them to replace any dotted crotchet (dotted quarter note); or any group of three quavers (eighth notes) that starts on the beat and starts and ends with the same note.
Lovely.

Love this, played flawlessly
Brilliant stuff, don’t know why people think the only box that Irish music can be played properly on is a BC box that DG sounds brilliant.
Don't forget the C#/D box. BC is not the only system in Ireland. ;)
I play concertina
That’s Awesome
Living proof that you don't have to stick to Morris tunes on a D/G,I think!
Lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Superb! I love it
Gorgeous! ❤❤❤❤❤
I can imagine my father playing the accordion 🪗 which he played real good

Lovely !!
Great accordion music

Thanks again paul. Brill.
Fabulous grace notes and triplets. 👍

True virtuosity, you intrepret everything as it would wish to be played, thanks.

Class
Almost an 'Oakwood' sound from that box. Super reeds (and playing, of course).
Nice. Interesting what you do with the rolls.
😊👍😊😊❤
Lovely version of the Maid Behind the Bar too.
Shall work on some guitar backing with it :)

Brilliant! Is this a standard D/G tuning?
Very enjoyable listen. Nice strap - where can I get one like that?
It came with the box. It's fairly similar to most good leather accordion straps I've seen available to buy separately.

Yes! I would really like this too!

Just made a video about that stuff here: ruclips.net/video/aBgYfjSO0w0/видео.htmlsi=riKFqj1z2l3EgsSf
But the short answer is because I got into English music first, and DG is more versatile for stuff other than Irish.
Good lord that's pacey! Did you drink a lot of coffee beforehand?
Im actually often wondering why some people play so slow. Guess it's because I'm used to rock music. ^^
How on earth do you do triplets as good as that?
Hey I was curious on how you chose to implement roles? I’ve never actually done them myself and was wondering if you have tips for where to put them
As a very basic rule, you can use them to replace any dotted crotchet (dotted quarter note); or any group of three quavers (eighth notes) that starts on the beat and starts and ends with the same note.
exelent ! Is it possible to play Joe Cooley's reel with à B/C accordion ? Thx !
Of course - you can play anything on a BC.
Do you know where I could find the notes to this tune by chance?
thesession.org/tunes
Can you post a lesson to learn this song
What key are you in please?
The box is a DG. The tunes are in Em and D.
Sharing something new with the accordion community. Followed my heart to Europe to do so… waiting for feedback 🪗
Played brilliantly but the buttons clicking was horrible 😫
I disagree. It makes it sound even better and more natural
@@maciejmagiczaworonek2452 fair enough 👌🏻
