Your over thinking this whole process. Get the $200 oil pan and you won't have to cut a single thing and the make brackets that will let you mount the a/c compressor on top of the engine also so you won't have to cut the frame where the idler arm bolts up. What they don't tell you is if you do that your going to throw the whole front steering way out of wack. Their is so much aftermarket support for these swaps now that all the cutting isn't necessary

They make kits where u don't have to cut anything and they also make plug and play wiring harnesses then all u need to do is get I believe it's a gto oil pan to clear the cross member. And also will need different headers. The ones for a 350 swap the steering shaft goes in between the header tubes or the ones I had did.
Can't wait to see it finished doing a similar project myself
Summit sells a S10 LS kit.. headers, oil pan, mounts, crossbar etc
You can run a high mount ac bracket instead of notching the front part of the frame.
We got snow down here in Tucson over night too

Yes I have the same Blazer those wires that go through the firewall right there one of them has to do with the speedometer if you're going to keep the 700 R4 do not mess with it I could not for the life of me figure out why my speedometer was not working and then I realize it is that smaller plug that goes to that box that's on the ECU that goes straight up in the dash on the passenger side I want to relocate those wires as well I'm probably going to convert it to the non-air-conditioned panel or make my own panel because I want Heat
I've done one in a 94 blazer and did not have to notch the cross member BUT did have to notch the air box and the frame for ac
Get the hot rod oil pan from a holly don't cut the crossmember they make everything to install
