So absolutely brilliant. Difficult yes, but totally worth the trouble. Won't be able to make one myself but it was therapeutic to watch your craftsmanship. Hats off
I'm at a loss .. That was incredible. I loved that it was simplistic in the pieces needed to create that beautiful work. Yet I would never be able to do anything like that. Stunning
This is a truly easy DIY. No fancy tools, nothing. Every other tutorial I saw was using a metal lampshade frame which completely misses the point. Edit : I also love how you showed the little imperfections because that always happens in DIY projects and great choice of music !
Very beautiful! If you are too lazy to roll the magazine you could use colored drinking straws from a party store! Another viewer mentioned putting beads in between, I think that would be much easier to do with straws. String a head & then right thru the straw. It would be interesting to see how the light would look thru translucent straws. I love the way that one creative person sparked creativity in the rest of us! Not only did she make the lamp but she shot a video too! A very creative person lit 3 creative sparks!!! Great job!!!
This looked quite good, and it gave off a really nice glow, and the light created a pattern, threw the magazine shade, it was brighter than I expected, and worked just great, it definately didnt look like it was made from magazines and cardboard, this was a real success and an interesting video to watch and very informative, and helpful. Very cool. Intelligent use of recycled materials. Making art out of trash. Use of LED strips reduces electric consumption while adding the capability to control each light to dazzling artistic effect. I love it! Kudos.
WOW! This is the 1st video of yours I've viewed and I have to say I'm impressed, truly. So many others which I've viewed, where the crafter talks us through the process become way too bogged down in unnecessary chat so the fact that you choose to just print, (concise and easy to follow), instructions on screen is a bonus. The soundtrack is enjoyable too. I love this craft idea, it is uncomplicated and inexpensive and the finished result is quite amazing with how the light radiates. Well done, I have subscribed and look forward to viewing more of your videos.
U r the only crafter to take very minor problems into consideration, which really helps most of us doing these diys easily. Tysm😘 liked n subscribed the very moment I saw the video. Great work. Keep it up. May ur channel grow more successful than anyone’s. Best of luck. Love from India.
Magical!! Plus, you taught me several skills. One, to use papier mache for gluing parts together. Two, the way you used the already coiled lightstrip to help wrap around the core. I would have been a dummy and unrolled the whole thing, laboriously going around and around to attach it. Such a pretty result!
With so much of crap on youtube, this video is indeed very creative and very inspiring. Loved it!. I might use your idea of rolling paper and making tubes in my projects too... thanks for sharing. Its very innovative!
I saw this in my feed and thought it might be interesting. You know what? It was very cool and designed by someone who has serious skills. Bravo!! Liked & subscribed!
Clear colored beads would be nice as spaces for the tubes. You can also just twist the cord between the tubes like a sushi roller. You might be interested in a very nice sculpting epoxy like material called Magic Sculpt and Magic Smooth - for hard coating foam. The Magic Sculpt is a two part epoxy like material that you can hand manipulate and it cures really rigidly for a lot of purposes.
I'm sure she appreciates your tips but a wise person said "Before I care how much you know, I need to know how much you care." Did you like her video? Did you like her ingenuity? Did you like the music? Because seeing something cool and only saying what you feel, in your personal opinion, could improve it sort of makes you not cool. Plus it's not healthy to always look for the faults in things, especially since no one and nothing is perfect.
You could spray paint them and save some time and you could use some straws as well. You could also you your old cd cases as the base. Just few thoughts
lovely ! so many people that waste their money on cheap made yet Highly priced stuff and furniture while it doesn't have to be so damn expensive ! SAVE your money , even if you have not a single cent to worry about ! the next generation you leave behind is going to get it even tougher than we do ! atleast leave something good behind when you are gone , like these things which is for them something to learn and think about !
I am doing this. For sure. I’m ordering my led lights. This looks so fun. I’ve always wanted a use for old magazines. Perfect. Love the twinkling effect.
Wow-so cool! Very clever. Thank you for sharing. Now I know why I’ve been saving all these magazines that are taking up so much space in my house! Lol.
This was a very good instructional video! Your paper rolls were so good, I thought it was plastic coffee stirrers at first glance!! Please make more!!!
Last year, i watched this video, and i tried it, it 'harder' than it looks, literally. But, its a craft, definitely worth SOMETHING 👏🎆🎇🎉 I love ur content, keep it up 💗💗💗
I like this but I think if I were to make it I'd use wood for the top and bottom and bamboo skewers instead of paper. Or maybe use a poured resin outer wall that is different colors and different opaque levels. Of course I need some practice with resins before I would try that. If I was going to do something I'd want it sturdy so it would last awhile.
I'd keep the cardboard base and tube idea....but as for doing those rollups of paper....Yeah, I can see me using skewers for that part. Much easier....lol My brain wouldn't let me sit there long enough to try and roll those paper things....I'd go CRAZY!!!!! Plus, having OCD makes things like THAT very HARD. 😕 But this is a VERY unique lamp...love how it throws the light around!! 😎🖒🖒
This would also be a great use of plastic straws that aren't recyclable, too. I'd love to make some shorter ones to use as sconces to cast that great light pattern on the wall!
So many art and craft projects on RUclips are so tacky, but this is beautiful! You have an excellent eye for design and detail.
I can't decide if this person has the mind of an engineer or the mind of an artist!

I love lamps that cast a decorative shadow around it. Beautiful. I think I'll modify this to make a hanging lamp.
I'm thinking the same, but how to modify bottom to look more attractive.
