I love lamps that cast a decorative shadow around it. Beautiful. I think I'll modify this to make a hanging lamp.

@@Lokesh_Reddy_ maybe something to defuse the light? Maybe a piece of clear plastic, and painted white for example. Might be able to recycle a fast-food salad lid?

This is a truly easy DIY. No fancy tools, nothing. Every other tutorial I saw was using a metal lampshade frame which completely misses the point.
Edit : I also love how you showed the little imperfections because that always happens in DIY projects and great choice of music !

  • @bellesmom2012

Very beautiful! If you are too lazy to roll the magazine you could use colored drinking straws from a party store! Another viewer mentioned putting beads in between, I think that would be much easier to do with straws. String a head & then right thru the straw. It would be interesting to see how the light would look thru translucent straws.
I love the way that one creative person sparked creativity in the rest of us! Not only did she make the lamp but she shot a video too! A very creative person lit 3 creative sparks!!! Great job!!!

WOW! This is the 1st video of yours I've viewed and I have to say I'm impressed, truly. So many others which I've viewed, where the crafter talks us through the process become way too bogged down in unnecessary chat so the fact that you choose to just print, (concise and easy to follow), instructions on screen is a bonus. The soundtrack is enjoyable too. I love this craft idea, it is uncomplicated and inexpensive and the finished result is quite amazing with how the light radiates. Well done, I have subscribed and look forward to viewing more of your videos.

Clear colored beads would be nice as spaces for the tubes. You can also just twist the cord between the tubes like a sushi roller. You might be interested in a very nice sculpting epoxy like material called Magic Sculpt and Magic Smooth - for hard coating foam. The Magic Sculpt is a two part epoxy like material that you can hand manipulate and it cures really rigidly for a lot of purposes.

I'm sure she appreciates your tips but a wise person said "Before I care how much you know, I need to know how much you care." Did you like her video? Did you like her ingenuity? Did you like the music? Because seeing something cool and only saying what you feel, in your personal opinion, could improve it sort of makes you not cool. Plus it's not healthy to always look for the faults in things, especially since no one and nothing is perfect.

I like this but I think if I were to make it I'd use wood for the top and bottom and bamboo skewers instead of paper. Or maybe use a poured resin outer wall that is different colors and different opaque levels. Of course I need some practice with resins before I would try that. If I was going to do something I'd want it sturdy so it would last awhile.

I'd keep the cardboard base and tube idea....but as for doing those rollups of paper....Yeah, I can see me using skewers for that part. Much easier....lol My brain wouldn't let me sit there long enough to try and roll those paper things....I'd go CRAZY!!!!! Plus, having OCD makes things like THAT very HARD. 😕 But this is a VERY unique lamp...love how it throws the light around!! 😎🖒🖒
